**Summary:**
Support the Technical Operations department in generation of protocols, master batch record review, batch analysis, Quality Investigation Report/Quality Deviation Report (QIR/QDR) follow-up, process execution and equipment procurement.
**Essential Functions:**
Technology transfer. Responsible for transfers and launches to the site. Includes process scale-up and process optimization.
Investigate quality issues could include system control, Quality Investigation Report (QIR)/Quality Deviation Report (QDR).
Investigate root causes and recommend appropriate Corrective Action/Preventative Action (CAPA) items for the Technical Operations department (using tools such as FMEA, RCA, etc).
Generate technical documents (protocols, reports, proposals, gap/risk assessment, batch records, URS, etc).
Generate, assess, and approve change controls.
Attend Quality Improvement meetings.
Assist in the coordination of project information between Account Management, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC) and Commercial Operations.
Support Technical Operations team with process execution/equipment trials and design and acquisition of equipment.
Perform batch analysis.
Attend project team meetings, client teleconferences and on-site visits.
Interact with clients daily.
Work closely with Technical Writers and Production supervisory staff to ensure timely completion of Commercial manufacturing activities and attends weekly scheduling meetings (if applicable).
Provide training/support to Co-Ops/Interns and monitor ongoing training (if applicable)
Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards.
Perform alternating and rotating shift work (as required)
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education:**
Post-secondary diploma in Chemistry, Engineering, Science or related field.
BSc in Chemistry or Engineering is preferred.
**Experience:**
Minimum 3 years of experience within Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or Quality Assurance departments
2 years of combined hands on pharmaceutical experience in Production and Development (scale up and technology transfer of solids and liquids).
1-year experience in Master Batch Record/Protocol/Report preparation within the Pharmaceutical Industry, including proven abilities in report writing and batch record preparation required
Previous experience in statistical analysis and data compilation is preferred
Previous experience with SAP enterprise software to source information and navigate business operations is preferred.

Mission of the Position:
The Expert, Business Process Optimization position will work with key stakeholders to conduct in-depth analysis of existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization. The position will recommend, support and/or lead the design, development, and implementation of strategies to streamline processes and improve efficiency and will use data and metrics to measure the effectiveness of process improvements. This role may act as a work stream lead on key strategic projects and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct operational and statistical studies to identify current states and potential areas for process simplification, standardization, and optimization.
- Lead in planning and execution for business process optimization projects. These may include but are not limited to domains such as Quoting, EHS management, Expense management, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), front office digitalization, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, logistics planning, Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), Engineering Change management, procure to pay process, and other similar projects.
- Interview key stakeholders and develop detailed end-to-end process maps, identifying roles and resources required.
- Utilize data to recommend and implement optimization strategies for business processes, enhancing productivity and reducing inefficiencies.

About the role:
The Director of Process Management & Optimization is a critical role responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of organizational processes within operations. This individual will focus on driving efficiency, reducing waste, enhancing quality, and ensuring that processes align with the company's strategic goals and customer needs. The Director of Process Management & Optimization will be responsible for identifying bottlenecks, streamlining workflows, and implementing best practices that drive operational excellence and sustainable growth.
What you’ll do:
Strategic Leadership:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day operational activities, resources, staffing and budgets
- Work closely with the VP of Operations and other Financeit leaders to identify areas for continuous improvement
- Deliver and continuously improve operations strategy
- Manage and oversee the Quality Assurance, Efficiency and training team within operations
- Foster collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to identify emerging trends, service opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
Process Analysis & Design:
- Map, analyze, and document current-state business processes across various departments and functions.
- Design and develop efficient, effective, and scalability future state processes
Process Implementation & Standardization:
- Lead and manage the implementation of new or revised processes, and guidelines ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
- Collaborate with other departments and individually execute process improvements with technology solutions.
- Create and deliver training programs for employees on new processes and tools.
Performance Monitoring, Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
- Define and track key process performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
- Conduct root cause analysis for process failures or inefficiencies.
- Implement corrective and preventative actions to ensure ongoing process effectiveness
- Measure the impact of continuous improvement and automation initiatives through the KPI lens, providing insights and reports to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Documentation & Governance:
- Establish and maintain process governance frameworks to ensure adherence to standards and ongoing process health.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, quality standards, and internal policies.
Requirements
What you'll need to succeed:
- Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategy roles, including time in a top-tier consulting firm and/or leadership within investment management, financial services, or technology operations.
- Experience in process management, business analysis, operations, or continuous improvement roles.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing complex business processes.
- Experience with process mapping and modeling tools.
- Experience in agile development or product lifecycle.
- Certifications (Preferred): Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, PMP, and BPM.
- Ability to analyze complex data, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.
- Strong ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Experience with Looker, Powerbi, or Tableau.SQL and AI competency is an asset
- Experience in driving organizational change and fostering adoption of new processes.

Job Responsibilities
Lead and optimize extruded polystyrene manufacturing processes, including extrusion, foaming, and finishing stages.
Drive plant startup activities, ensuring smooth commissioning and ramp-up of new equipment and systems.
Calibrate and tune plant equipment (e.g., extruders, molds, auxiliary systems) for optimal performance, consistency, and energy efficiency.
Monitor and troubleshoot process parameters (temperature, pressure, material flow) to maintain product quality and minimize downtime.
Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions for process deviations, equipment failures, and quality issues.
Develop and maintain plant-specific SOPs and work instructions for startup, tuning, and production operations.
Analyze production data to identify trends, reduce waste, and improve yield and throughput.
Support capital projects, including equipment upgrades and installations, with a focus on cost-effectiveness and reliability.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, including safe handling of blowing agents and raw materials.
Train and mentor plant operators and maintenance personnel on process optimization and equipment operation.
Collaborate with R&D and Quality Assurance teams to support new product trials and process validations.
Qualifications
Bacheloru2019s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in XPS, polymer extrusion, or foam production.
Proven experience with plant startups and equipment tuning in a single-site setting.
Strong knowledge of extrusion processes, polymer chemistry, and plant equipment (e.g., extruders, pumps, heat exchangers).
Hands-on troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is an asset.
Proficiency in data analysis and process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen, MATLAB, or similar).
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
Direct experience with XPS manufacturing, including blowing agents (HFC, HFO, blends) and foam density control.
Background in energy efficiency and sustainability practices in a manufacturing setting.
Experience leading plant-specific process improvement or equipment tuning projects.
