Job Summary:

The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations in our Woodstock precast concrete facility, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. Through effective communication, determination and self-discipline, this role is responsible for leveraging knowledge and skills to set clear expectations, efficient planning, production oversight, coaching, compliance, and employee management. This role requires hands-on leadership, technical expertise in precast processes, and strong coordination with cross-functional teams.

While the pace of the work is faster than average, quality or safety is never compromised. The work requires technical problem solving and innovation while working within approved organizational systems, quality standards and technology

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents to guide and plan production activities.
  • Coordinate workflow, labour assignments, and material flow to align with production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate shift documentation, including production reports, attendance, and incident logs.
  • Maintain and enforce compliance with workplace safety policies and quality control procedures.
  • Lead and supervise production crews, in a unionized environment, to meet daily targets in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Train, mentor, and develop production employees; facilitate cross-training and skill development.
  • Champion lean manufacturing principles and drive initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues, including equipment downtime and process bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance, for optimal production performance.
  • Participate in production planning meetings and contribute to operational strategy.

Technical Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of industrial supervisory experience preferable in a Unionized environment
  • Engineering Technology degree or diploma, or equivalent is preferred
  • Prior experience in precast concrete or similar manufacturing is an asset
  • Effective leadership and conflict resolution abilities

Business Requirements:

  • Drive, determination, and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet and maintain job standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production management software
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and lean manufacturing principles

Cultural Requirements:

What you’ll be working on:  

Responsible for the overall management and direction of the production process, along with leadership of the team, in accordance with all policies, procedures, regulations and laws. We are moving to 100 Newman St, Ingersoll, ON N5C 3J8, Canada

The target start date in Ingersoll is October 1, 2025, with 4-6 weeks of training in Brantford. 

The primary function is to supervise and direct the production of quality brake linings by optimizing production equipment and team members.  The worker manages the production operation and works to ensure product quality while achieving production schedules.

Replacement Position

Shift Hours: Mon through Thurs (7:00 am to 5:30 pm)

Compensation Range $8k – $6 k

Pay is weekly paid every Friday


Principle Responsibilities

  • Provides direction and leadership in resolving technical and production-related problems to ensure completion of weekly schedules.
  • Supervise approximately 35 production operators.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety and quality requirements.
  • Oversees and performs maintenance work necessary in maintaining machine operations.
  • Trains machine operators on procedures, methods, problem-solving, programming, quality requirements, and safety.
  • Resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delays. 
  • Performs trial and prototype equipment modifications for brake lining equipment.
  • Performs set-up operations for all part numbers and verifies quality by dimensional and process material testing.
  • Maintains daily production output and quality reports for corporate transmission.
  • Maintain inventory of essential production tools and support materials.
Qualifications

Competencies

  • Machine reliability experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management of maintenance activities.
  • Lead/Implemented plant preventative maintenance.
  • Mechanical/Electrical Devices troubleshooting experience.
  • Pneumatic / Hydraulic maintenance experience (a plus!).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of operating experience on mechanical assembly equipment.
  • Knowledge of chemical handling and process control is desirable.

Dessert Holdings is looking for aShift Production Manager in London, Ontario for the 11:00 p.m. shift start (Sunday through Thursday). Reporting to the Production Manager, this role will be directly responsible for leading an assigned production shift by working hand in hand with direct reports production supervisors. This role will be accountable for safety on the production line, maximizing production effectiveness by establishing and maintaining standard work, attaining company KPI's (Key Performance Indicators), and developing continuous improvement methods. This role will be focused on the achievement of zero accidents, zero quality defects, zero unplanned and controllable downtime. In addition, this role will be responsible for sustainable results through the continuous development of our people.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Coaches, counsels, mentors, and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities of first-level supervisors and others within their department.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's safety programs & standards and foster an environment that supports an engaged safety culture.
  • Motivate, direct, hire, coach and develop a diverse, high performing team to meet established goals and build organizational capability.
  • Effectively translate plant goals & objectives to all levels of the organization ensuring alignment on relevant performance data.
  • Recognize potential problems with the production schedule and initiate measures to eliminate or reduce their impact.
  • Help define & implement short, medium, and long-term actions to improve safety, operating efficiency, quality, and productivity throughout the entire value chain.
  • Achieve key performance indicators and drive the necessary improvement for on-time delivery, productivity, project management, quality, safety, and other key process areas.
  • Ensure the team is fully cross-trained and leads direct reports to achieve goals and deliverables.
  • Promote & enable professional and technical development of staff.
  • Assess Supervisor job performance and provide open feedback.
  • Leverages continuous improvement tools to eliminate loss, optimize processes, and improve reliability.

Position Requirements:

  • At least 5years leadership experience in a related industry with experience managing other professionals.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing leadership with process-oriented operations.
  • High school diploma. A degree in a technical, engineering, or relevant field will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing implementation and/or Six Sigma training/certifications with Continuous Improvement tools is highly preferred.
  • PC Proficient in email, reading/writing reports and creating effective MS Excel spread sheets.
  • Have a working understanding of Quality Management Systems.
  • Have a working understanding of Occupational Health & Safety standards and best practices.
  • Proven leadership expertise through previous production management experience with both people management and resource allocation.
  • Sitting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Stooping, kneeling, or bending.
