Worley Canada Construction is seeking a Planner/Scheduler to join our project controls team either at our Edmonton, Alberta Office and/or at our project sites in Alberta.


Position Description: This position will be responsible for establishing Level 3 or 4 resource loaded P6 schedules for EPFC or Fabrication/Module Assembly and Construction projects including schedules for bids/proposal. Candidate is expected to work with minimum support from construction supervision in the development of Level 4 resource loaded schedule using 3D model, Engineering work packages, Drawings and estimating information. The Planner/Scheduler will provide detailed time analysis to the Construction Management Team and Project Manager and will inform them of potential delays and/or opportunities in an expeditious fashion. Able to perform and excel in a fast-paced environment, willingness for site-based positions and, willingness to be flexible depending on departmental requirements e.g. accountability for multiple projects may be expected.


Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain master schedules (Level 2, 3, 4 and 5) based on specific project requirements/needs based on inputs from multiple departments.
  • Development and maintenance of resource loaded project master schedule as per the project WBS
  • Ensure Key activities and schedule milestone dates identified in the schedule basis are captured as part of project master schedule.
  • Development of the Basis of Schedule document
  • Coordinate with Client, Hydrotest group and completions group to develop detail turnover logic
  • Update the schedule with progress tracking information and ensure earned progress in scorecard aligns with schedule update. Knowledge on earning rules of credits, scorecard setup and its integration with regular schedule updates.
  • Determine the quality of schedule using Acumen Fuse and resolve any shortcomings
  • Prior experience on conducting schedule risk analysis using Primavera Risk Analysis (PRA) software will be considered an asset.
  • Assess schedule impacts as part of the management of change procedure and modify the schedule to reflect all approved changes
  • Organize various Inter Active Planning (IAP) sessions throughout the project life cycle
  • Coordinate with Workface planning/AWP group in the development of detailed schedule with FIWP breakup
  • Closely monitor schedule milestones and other key activity/deliverable dates and notify project team of any variances and initiate schedule mitigation. Assess schedule impacts as part of the management of change procedure and modify the schedule to reflect all approved changes
  • Coordinate with sub-contractors and vendors in development and management of their schedule including schedule interface process
  • Organize required schedule reviews with project personnel
  • Assist project controls specialist on updating Quantity Tracking Database (QTDB)/ progress scorecards and obtain progress info to update project schedule. Knowledge on earning rules of credits, scorecard setup and its integration with regular schedule updates
  • Assist project controls specialist in the generation of cash flow curves and other cost forecast for the project
  • Coordinate with CMT on all schedule update, ensure detailed three week lookahead schedule aligns with project master schedule.
  • Review with all stakeholders the variance analysis after every schedule update and address those as part of the shift report narrative.
  • Assist Project Controls in the development of skyline charts for EWP IFC, Module assembly, System walkdowns and Turnover
  • Incorporate approved changes in the schedule and analyze the impact of changes to the project critical path.
  • Provide feedback to key stakeholders as to the overall status of the project, inclusive but not limited to:
  • Critical Path Analysis
  • Manpower Forecasting/Histogram Preparation
  • Provide forecast to Project Controls for generation of reports
  • Provide information required for internal and external reporting
  • Perform progress validation walks of the various sites if requested to ensure the schedule is being met.
  • Generate three week lookahead schedule.


Qualifications:

  • Experience in a heavy industrial engineering/construction environment.
  • Exposure to all disciplines including but not limited to; Earthworks/Civil/Piling/Concrete, Fabrication and Module Assembly, Field Piping and Mechanical, Field Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls, Field Insulation.
  • Engineering Degree or Certified Journeyperson of a relevant trade
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstratable experience with Primavera P6 in an industrial setting, Proficient in development of Primavera (P6) scheduling and reporting.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience within Planning/Scheduling using P6 on Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication and Construction projects including working on Bid Proposals.
  • Ability to read and understand relevant construction drawings
  • Ability to utilize 3D modelling software such as Navisworks
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite, proficiency in English, and excellent skills in communication and attaining information in a fast-paced environment.
  • General knowledge of IT programs used in estimating and project controls.
  • Thorough knowledge of schedule principles in their application to projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work under pressure on complex issues across multiple projects.
  • Knowledge on Acumen Fuse and PRA will be an asset

* Supporting the change management process, preparing agendas for change control, and working with stakeholders to process and approve changes to the project baselines
* Supporting the development, maintenance, and reporting of project schedules including establishing baselines, ensuring completeness, and maintaining accurate networking logic as projects progress
* Supporting the development, maintenance, and reporting of project cost information, including budgets, commitments, expenditures, forecasts, and variance management
* Supporting the contract management team in reviewing consultant work plans and invoices, as required
* Supporting the Document Controls team to ensure procedures are implemented for submittals processing, document storage, and effective use of document storage solutions
* Supporting the Risk and Issues process to ensure that data is accurately documented and aligned with schedule and financial reporting
* Helping review project reporting to ensure accurate and consistent narrative across reporting mechanisms
* Collaborating with the Quality Assurance team to establish the Quality Management System (QMS) and track/report on key quality KPIs
* Assisting the Senior Project Manager, Project Controls (as needed) with tasks related to schedule, cost, contract management, risk, resourcing, quality, business systems, document control, and status reporting
* Leading the creation of presentations and reports related to project controls, as required
* Leading mini-projects and/or initiatives within the overall program to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements**
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, or a relevant discipline, plus 10 years of experience in project controls
* Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a **Project Controls Manager** capacity or similar
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Completion of a diploma or degree in Business, Commerce, Project Management, Communication, or Engineering (or equivalent education, training, and experience)
* Minimum 5 years of progressive experience, preferably in project management, consulting, or transit infrastructure delivery
* Experience implementing project management controls processes to enable project delivery while maintaining effective oversight
* Solid foundation in project management with a strong understanding of all PM knowledge areas
* Project management experience including initiation, planning, execution, closure, and monitoring & controlling
* Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
* Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills to effectively communicate with varied audiences
* Previous experience in a Project Management Office (PMO) environment is considered an asset
* Knowledge of project KPIs including SPI, CPI, and EV; understanding of QSRA and QCRA for contingency analysis is an asset
* Familiarity with construction procurement models such as Progressive Contracting, AFP-P3, DBB, and DBF, and their implications for project delivery is considered an asset

**The Opportunity:**
**WSP** is currently seeking a **Manager, Project Controls - Bridges Highways & Roads** **Ontario** for our **Transportation** business line, located in the Greater Toronto Area.
This position will spearhead a team of seasoned project controls professionals and provide guidance, mentorship, and support. As an experienced team leader, you will bring your demonstrated ability and passion to lead the team internally and support the team's development, performance, and progression. You will be focused on driving the team's efficiency, process automation, and productivity through the adoption of various digital tools available to you within the business. Reporting directly to the Director Operations, the candidate will have exceptional project controls technical, management and financial leadership, and be able to provide operational support to the Director Operations.
This position provides operational and project controls leadership for the Bridges, Highways, Roads, Major Projects, Electrical/ITS design services as well as Construction Administration services in Ontario. In addition to team leadership responsibilities, the candidate is responsible for overseeing and managing the project controls functions for select infrastructure projects, including direct coordination with clients externally. We are recruiting for a Project Controls Specialist for our location in Peterborough, ON. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry's most challenging problems. Today, BWXT's equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

The Project Controls Specialist (PCS) is responsible for the governance, procedures, tools, and best practices to be employed by the Project Management Organization (PMO); including the creation, maintenance, enforcing, auditing and reporting of such methods. With assigned projects, planning or executing, the Project Controls Specialist will collaborate with the Project Manager or be delegated the responsibility for various, project or change, initiation aspects such as: scheduling (structure, logic, resourcing, or any other elements of), budgeting (structure and setup) and administrative organization (directory and reporting set up).
**Accountabilities:**
+ Maintain and control the effective use and administration of the scheduling system(s).
+ Advise and support project organization during planning phases of assigned projects, especially with respect to established governance, procedures, tools, and best practices.
+ Execute and support project and change initiation activities in collaboration with the Project Managers.
+ Advise project teams and support all elements of project execution through the thorough and practical understanding of Project Management Organization governance, procedures, tools, and best practices.
+ Create and maintain governance, procedures, tools, and best practices to be employed by Project Management Organization.
+ Audit and enforce the established governance, procedures, tools, and best practices through routine and periodic checks, tests, interviews, etc.
+ Report compliance to and deviations from established governance, procedures, tools, and best practices with the affected Project Manager and other leaders within the business.
+ Ensure integrity of project and portfolio data across the various systems (scheduling, ERP, other databases, etc.).
+ Create, maintain, and utilize training materials for the scheduling system(s) and Project Management Organization governance, procedures, tools, and best practices.
+ Support and, in some cases, deputize Project Managers as mutually agreed to in appropriate circumstances.
+ Suggest and raise opportunities aimed at improving the departmental governance, procedures, tools, and best practices.
+ Support and sometimes lead the continuous improvement of departmental governance, procedures, tools, and best practices.
**Qualifications:**
+ Completion of post-secondary education in a field such as, engineering, mathematics, or business.
+ Mastery of scheduling practices and concepts.
+ Mastery of Oracle Primavera P6.
+ Mastery of Microsoft Excel.
+ Demonstratable understanding of project management fundamentals such as scheduling, earned-value management, budget, controls, and change management.
+ Demonstratable experience with visual analytic software.
+ Demonstratable strength in organizing, analyzing, and presenting large and diverse data sets.
+ Professional competency of English, in written and verbal forms.
**Desired Characteristics:**
+ 5 years of related project controls experience in a project based organization.
+ Experience in the nuclear energy production industry.
+ Project Management Professional certification.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $73,500 and $116,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
