**Your Opportunity**
The role of an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer is to work on projects of all sizes. You will be required to own the engineering of regular designs and assist work on advanced designs under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Engineer. You will perform a variety of tasks which will include calculations and field work requiring travel.
The candidate may be assigned leadership roles for discreet scope elements on projects where they will be responsible for the delivery of scope, schedule and budget for multidisciplinary teams. Your home office will be either Saskatoon, SK or Sudbury, ON.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
* Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements.
* Assists in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
* Prepares and revises documentation in various project phases.
* Coordinates with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
* Assists in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
* Assists with the development of job specific discipline specifications.
* Assists in the evaluation and selection of mechanical equipment and materials.
* Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members, external consultants and clients.
* Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
* Performs calculations to analyze and design mechanical systems using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
* Knowledge of mechanical systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards for a mining environment.
* Understanding of all phases of engineering document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
* Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions using sound professional judgment.

* Professional Engineering membership, in good standing, with one of Canada's provincial associations.
**Education and Experience**
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* 5 to 20 years of industry experience.
Working Conditions
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Working in a 50/50 hybrid home/office environment is an option.
Field work may include exposure to the elements, underground work and may involve travel outside of normal working hours.

Skills / Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Canadian University, or equivalent is required.

5+ years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering, specifically related to HVAC & Plumbing construction industry or equivalent required.

Substantial knowledge of pertinent codes and standards (O.B.C., CSA Standards, ASHRAE etc.).

Experience in the design of mechanical systems commonly used in multi-unit residential buildings, or similar, is required.

Experience in private sector works, specifically working with private sector developers is considered an asset.

Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD suites

The IMSR plant offers a near 50 percent improvement in efficiency of electric power generation compared to Light Water Reactor nuclear plants. ROLE OVERVIEW

Plan, schedule, and assist in the coordination of short to medium term maintenance for all mobile equipment on-site. Plan to Thiess standard or Original Equipment Manufacturer specifications (whichever is greater) to ensure the equipment fleet achieves maximum availability in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems
  • Supervise and inspect the installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical systems at the company's facilities
  • Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs and provide guidance to industrial maintenance crews
  • Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
  • Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for industrial construction or maintenance
  • Supervise technicians, technologists and review and approve, calculations and cost estimates.
  • Asset cost control - perform regular audit on work order cost code allocation
  • Team building - share the knowledge of Thiess standard and JDE expectation to ensure that the maintenance activities compliant with the policy
  • Initiate the reliability program onsite through the establishment of reliability method:
  • Oil sampling
  • Equipment breakdown statistic
  • Equipment, undercarriage and tire condition monitoring
  • Equipment performance and optimization review, implement the findings to actual maintenance operation
  • Build relationships with the supplier and make sure the proper support is delivered for Thiess Stobie project through timely manner parts delivery, technical support, and warranty process
  • Prepare and build parts database
  • Ensure that all the maintenance expenses align with the plant budget according to the tender and to avoid unnecessary / unbudgeted expenditure
  • Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

  • Familiar with Office 365, including strong Excel skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A highly organized, motivated, self-starter, who can work with minimal supervision and put an emphasis on safety in the workplace
  • Knowledge of practices, performance, measures, scheduling tools, and techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high-performing, multi-disciplined, diverse team

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's Degree required
  • 5+ years in equipment planning, mining maintenance activities and/or equivalent industrial experience
  • 5+ years' experience in mobile equipment maintenance in an open mine site is required
  • Proven ability to build relationships with suppliers/partners to support mining objectives
  • Minimum 5 experience with planning using JD Edwards and Infomine is required
  • Minimum 1 year of reporting experience using Power Bi
  • Minimum 1 year experience using AutoCAD
  • Common core and supervisor training would be considered an asset
  • Deep understanding of the relation between work order, inventory, and procurement module in JDE

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (hours may change and will be scheduled in response to operational requirements of the project)
  • The successful candidate will work onsite at an office adjacent to the open pit project and will be expected to work in cold, snowy, winter conditions from time to time
  • Must be fluent in the English language

The salary range for this role is $115,000 to 125,000 CAD . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.   • Prepare and review equipment specifications, bid packages, and technical evaluations

  • Strong background in CAD design, pressure vessel and piping systems, and mechanical codes
  • Familiarity with compressible gas theory, compressor systems, welding, and project management
  • Excellent multitasking and time management abilities
  • Quick learner with an aptitude for new technologies and engineering tools
  • Strong attention to detail, mathematical skills, and hands-on mechanical aptitude
