DarkVision, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a Data Analysis Team Lead to join our fast growing In-line (pipeline) Inspection team in North Vancouver, BC . DarkVision leverages cutting-edge proprietary acoustic imaging technology to deliver industry leading asset inspection services, capable of detecting defects as small as a few millimeters. As an ILI (In-Line Inspection) Data Team Lead, you will manage a team of Data Analysts to produce accurate inspection reports critical to the safe operation of oil and gas pipelines.

Our Team

Our Data Analysts utilize 3D data visualization software and human-in-the-loop machine learning processes to meticulously analyze ultrasound datasets. The outputs of these analyses result in critical insights that enable our clients to make data-informed decisions on the operations and maintenance of multi-million-dollar infrastructure assets.

What You Will Do

  • Learn the delivery standards and workflow processes for your assigned ILI product line
  • Regularly check in with team members to assess capacity and remove roadblocks or inefficiencies
  • Through frequent 1:1 meetings, track team members' progression in their role, deliver constructive feedback, and ensure they receive proper recognition for their work while building a roadmap for their career development
  • Facilitate communication between your team and other teams and upper management
  • Ensure employees are aligned with the company vision, and that the goals and direction of the team help drive achievement of the vision
  • Facilitate the improvement of workflow procedures and best practices; seek out new solutions, seek feedback, and investigate and implement improvement opportunities
  • Review projects assigned to Analysts on your team; you are responsible for the content and delivery of projects
  • Partner with Recruiting and other Team Leads to recruit and evaluate candidates; a high volume of growth and hiring is expected
  • Make informed recommendations for hiring, raises/promotions, performance management, and further training
  • Develop new and improve existing processes and standards
  • Set project deadlines, assign project leads, and manage follow-up requests
  • Forecast team capacity vs. projected projects, offering transparency to stakeholders

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • At least 2 years of engineering or science study at university, college, or technical school
  • Experience managing a team producing client deliverables (e.g. reports, analysis)
  • Experience managing early to mid-career individuals
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry (e.g. ILI, pipeline or piping integrity, NDE/NDT, well integrity, well logging) or industrial asset inspection services
  • Experience managing teams with at least 5 team members
  • Experience in rapidly scaling an operation or team
  • Able to disseminate complex information and generate pragmatic solutions
  • Able to assess and adjust work processes to meet scaling requirements; delegate and prioritize work effectively among the team

For this role, we anticipate paying $85,000 - $110,000 CAD per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.

Role Overview:
Were looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to help power decision-making, personalization, and automation at Flashfood. Reporting to the Director of Data, youll work closely with data analysts, engineers, and product managers to design and deploy machine learning models that improve customer experience, enhance retailer insights, and drive operational efficiency.

This is a hands-on role focused on turning raw data into intelligent, scalable systems that enable better business outcomes. Youll play a key role in building the next generation of ML infrastructure and shaping how predictive technologies are used across the business.

Responsibilities:

Model Development & Deployment

  • Design, train, and evaluate machine learning models to support business goals (e.g., recommendation systems, dynamic pricing, demand forecasting, user segmentation)

  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to operationalize models using tools such as Databricks, MLflow, and Spark

  • Develop robust pipelines to deploy models into production, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance

  • Monitor model performance over time, retrain as needed, and improve accuracy and impact

Data Engineering & Infrastructure

  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to build reliable, well-structured datasets

  • Contribute to ML platform and pipeline improvements (CI/CD for ML, observability, feature stores)

  • Ensure that models are integrated seamlessly into our core products and tools

Collaboration & Enablement

  • Partner with Product, Marketing, and Operations teams to understand challenges and identify ML opportunities

  • Present insights and model outcomes to cross-functional stakeholders in a clear and actionable way

  • Contribute to team best practices around model development, experimentation, and documentation

Qualifications:

  • 35+ years of experience in machine learning or data science roles, with experience deploying models into production

  • Proficient in Python and SQL; experience with ML libraries such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, or XGBoost

  • Experience working with cloud data environments (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS)

  • Familiarity with ML and data pipeline tools (e.g., MLflow, Airflow, dbt) as well as MLOps best practices

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Passion for purpose-driven work and a desire to reduce food waste and make food more accessible

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning Engineer to join our team in Canada. The successful candidate will have a strong background in machine learning and software engineering, with experience in developing and deploying machine learning models in real-world applications. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with data, a strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques, cloud technology and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders.

This position is based in Toronto, Canada.

What You Will Do 

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will work closely with technical teams on the customer side and Customer Success, Enterprise Support, and Product Engineering teams on the H2O side.

Your primary responsibilities are:

  • Deliver technical professional services to the customer.
  • Working closely with H2O Data Scientists in advising and developing end to end machine learning solutions (from a data engineering perspective) for the customer requirements.
  • Integrating H2O products with customer data sources for model training.
  • Integrating machine learning models/pipelines (python and mojo scoring pipelines) with customer systems for scoring (relatime/batch) as well as model monitoring and operations.
  • Implementing end to end MLdata flow pipelines that help streamline and data science solutions to a business problem.
  • Implementing AI driven applications using the open source H2O Wave SDK.
  • Provide/gather customer feedback so that you can work with the H2O.ai Engineering team to further enhance our products for needed features.
  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of deployed models by implementing appropriate monitoring, testing, and debugging processes.
  • Work on GenAI tools - LLMs, Fine tuning engines, RAG, create GenAI Apps.

Your additional responsibilities include:

  • Be the trusted solutions advisor for our customers and partners.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse audience of internal and external stakeholders consisting of: Engineers, business people, partners, executives.
  • Translate business cases and requirements into value based technical solutions through the architecture of machine learning workflows and systems from data ingestion to model deployment.

What We Are Looking For 

  • Bachelor’s or a higher education degree in Computer Science/Engineering, data science, statistics or related field

Data Engineering Skills

  • Experience building data pipelines, ETL data sets, preferably on ‘Big Data’
  • Excellent understanding and experience with big data tools like Hadoop and Spark
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL query language and working with relational databases.
  • Understanding of various NoSQL database types and their application scenarios
  • Experience in Spark/Kafka and Hadoop ecosystem

Programming Languages/Frameworks

  • Proficient in Python or R for data science. Java, Bash scripting, Scala Go are a plus
  • Experience with writing REST API using microservices frameworks in Python or Java
  • Experience with dockerization of services (i.e. creating docker images)
  • Understanding of Kubernetes based application development

Data Science skills

  • Experience of visualizing and presenting (EDA) to stakeholders using H2O Wave (plus), or other standard data visualization libraries in the Python and R stacks or using Tableau/PowerBi.
  • Experience with post production model monitoring tools like H2O ML Ops (plus) MLFlow etc.
  • Understanding of using a variety of machine learning techniques (supervised/unsupervised, clustering,
  • decision tree learning, neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks/tuning
  • techniques.
  • Understanding of using advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) for practical applications.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience of working in a customer-facing environment, providing technical services
  • Excellent communication skills (proficient in spoken and written English). Additional languages are a plus.
  • Amicable attitude. Aptitude to independently investigate and find solutions to technical problems; urge to learn/master new technologies. Maker mindset.

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Git, Jenkins, ArgoCD.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security principles.

  • Experience with model interpretability techniques such as feature importance, partial dependence plots, or SHAP values.
  • Experience with IaC technologies such as Terraform, AWS Cloud Formation.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker.
  • Experience of debugging/troubleshooting containerized workloads and familiarity with tools such as kubectl, helm etc.
