Job Title: Technical Services Manager

Reporting directly to Skeena’s General Manager, Eskay Creek, the Technical Services Manager will lead the Technical Services team and will be responsible for all on-site Mine Engineering, Surveying, short and medium term Mine Planning, Production Geology and support for Earthworks, QC and Scheduling. This role will work directly with the Mobile Maintenance, Mine Operations and Construction & Engineering teams to plan all mining activities and ensure the overall mining goals of Eskay Creek are met. This role will also oversee the roll-out and management of Fleet Management system and HPGPS mining equipment.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and manage the technical services team, including mining engineers, geologists, surveyors, mine dispatch, quality control, placement planners and other technical professionals, to ensure high performance, collaboration, and continuous development.
  • Provide training and guidance to contractors that work within the Technical Services department.

  • Act as a designate statutory mine manager from time to time in the General Manager’s absence.

Mining Technology and Systems

  • Lead the implementation and management of Mining Technologies including Fleet Dispatch system, site wireless network and HPGPS Equipment.

Mine Planning and Forecasting

  • Oversee short and medium-term mine planning activities, including preparation of quarterly cost forecasts during the construction period and annual budgets once in operations.

  • Collaborate with corporate technical services team to support long-term mine planning activities, including preparation of life of mine plans.

  • Track compliance with the approved mine plan and ensure deviations are reviewed, approved, and documented appropriately.

  • Utilize advanced modeling software to perform mine planning activities including open pit mine design, production scheduling, and operational performance optimization.

  • Develop and maintain short- and mid-term plans that support selective mining strategies to maximize ore recovery and minimize dilution.

Regulatory and Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure and audit site compliance with HSRC, Permit and EGBC requirements for mine planning, geotechnical requirements and dump planning.

Operational Coordination and Execution

  • Efficiently coordinate all mine, dump, bulk earthworks fills, drill and blast, and other technical planning required to support the Eskay Creek revitalization project.

  • Oversee the successful execution of a detailed grade control and ore handling and stockpiling plan.

  • Act as the on-site key contact for managing all Earthworks engineering, Quality Control and file management.

  • Overall ownership of Skeena site survey team, file management, site survey control and as-built records.

  • Collaborate with Operations and Project Controls to maintain and present daily, weekly and monthly reports to senior leadership.

  • Provide direct technical support, planning and guidance to site operations teams, including troubleshooting complex mining issues, material balance, mass haul and implementing best practices.

Environmental and Geological Management

  • Efficiently coordinate the Eskay Creek ML/ARD program including all sample collection, sample testing, geological modeling, field characterization, and in alignment with all relevant permit conditions.

  • Develop and maintain accurate survey, geological, and geotechnical databases to support decision-making processes. Ensure technical data integrity and governance.

Assay Laboratory Oversight

  • Act as the site leader for the Assay Lab and ensure business priorities are accurately met between different testing requirements.

Performance Monitoring and Cost Control

  • Develop, monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and budget performance to identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.

Strategic and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Skeena Corporate Technical Services and Resource Geology teams to drive long term goals and ensure the overall mine plan is followed.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement technical strategies aligned with business goals, ensuring that technology initiatives support the company's objectives. 

Vendor and Partner Management

  • Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and technology partners, ensuring cost-effective procurement of IT solutions and services.

The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)

  • Mine Supervisor or Shiftboss certification (considered an asset)

Experience / Skills

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in the mining industry, including technical and leadership roles
  • Strong foundation in mine planning, geology, geotechnical engineering, survey, and reconciliation
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams
  • Background in open-pit operations
  • Proficient in Deswik or similar mine planning software
  • In-depth understanding of mine scheduling, design, and reconciliation processes
  • Knowledgeable in geotechnical monitoring and stability assessments for pit walls and major placement structures
  • Demonstrated experience in selective mining techniques, including ore-waste discrimination with multiple grade bins, dig line optimization with HPGPS systems, and grade control integration to minimize dilution and maximize ore recovery.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks and technical reporting standards (e.g., NI 43-101)
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development abilities
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
  • Collaborative approach, with experience working across operations, engineering, and executive teams
  • Experience in remote or fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) environments

Work Location & Conditions

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is CA$160,000- CA$200,000 , in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Who You Are

Mikisew is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Director, Technical Services. Reporting to the COO, the Director Technical Services will be responsible for the direction, planning, coordination, and supervision of the Technical Services department. The Department leads programs and activities related to the Mikisew Cree First Nation's housing initiatives municipal operations, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, major and minor capital improvements of streets and parking services, transmission of potable water, safe removal of sewage, engineering services and the proper developments of reserve infrastructure and services. Working within the general objectives and directions from the Chief and Council, the Director is expected to play a major role in developing specific objectives and plans, providing direction, accomplishing expectations efficiently and effectively and evaluating the department's operation.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement annual departmental and staff work plans (financial, equipment, material, and human resources) to accomplish department and program service levels (through budgeting) and to monitor and be accountable for resource utilization according to plan.
  • Responsible for the direction and supervision of all department personnel.
  • Assist the CEO and the Chief and Council in establishing annual goals, budgets, and direction for the department.
  • Ensures there is continuity with other department initiatives that target new reserve infrastructure and services and/or business facilities and services construction.
  • Ensures the positive image of the department with membership.
  • The Director has the authority to make requisitions for capital work, fixed assets and operating expenses within approved budgets, policies, and procedures, to manage staff, to enter into and sign contractual agreements for approved projects on behalf of the department and oversee such projects to ensure a net result.
  • Coordinate the efficient and effective execution of both ongoing Housing and Technical Services responsibilities and specific assigned projects.
  • Liaise with other departments, public groups, and the membership to overcome problems, find solutions and plan and execute improvements.
  • Communicate, operate within, and provide input into the broader priorities, direction, and policy of the MCFN.
  • Establish and maintain general policies and procedures for the operations of the Technical Services department.
  • Responsible for the role of Director of Disaster Services as per the Emergency Operations Plan for the community of Fort Chipewyan.
  • Responsible for Facilities Maintenance and the planning organization of preventative maintenance work.
  • Responsible for managing the budget and submitting update reports and cost estimates as may be required by funding organizations including the federal government.
  • Responsible for the organization, planning, implementation administration and evaluation of the MCFN housing programs.
  • Responsible for multi-year capital plans and projects including the identification, planning, development, preparation and submission of plans and cost estimates. Engaging and selecting consultants to provide architectural and engineering services.
  • Tender call reviews and awarding of Tenders.
  • Monitoring work in progress to ensure compliance with plans and specifications and following up accordingly.
  • Resolve technical problems that arise during construction.
  • Establish and maintain a filing system for capital projects including design drawing as-built drawings, inspection reports, feasibility studies, site plans, project evaluations, computer data etc.
  • Utilize a centralized computer system that incorporates programs for capital project management and to ensure that data is entered correctly, processed and recorded.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in engineering, Public Administration, or related field an asset.
  • Extensive experience dealing with federal and provincial government funding and training agencies and authorities.
  • Proven management and organizational skills.

  • High degree of interpersonal and public relation skills.
  • Strong resourcing skills and excellent job costing and forecasting skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License.

POSITION DETAILS

Position Description:

  • The posting is for a long-term position with General Dynamics Land Systems in the National Capital Region (NCR) in support of the Department of National Defence (DND)
  • This position is embedded within the DAVPM 2 Equipment Management Team (EMT) as part of the Optimized Weapon System Support (OWSS) Wheeled Light Armoured Vehicle (WLAV) Fleet Technical Services (FTS) Team in Ottawa, ON
  • The focus of a Life Cycle Material Manager (LCMM) is to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of sustainment operations while minimizing life cycle cost associated with the support of their assigned material
  • Perform Life Cycle Material Management activities in key functional areas including; Engineering, Logistics, Configuration Management (CM), Tech Data, Procurement, Supply, Quality Assurance, and Disposal
  • Receive and respond to technical feedback from users and maintainers
  • Advise the EMT on issues that may impact fleet availability
  • Provide Integrated Logistics Support to the OWSS team with Logistic Support Analysis Record (LSAR) changes, task development, technical data, waivers, and deviations
  • Perform periodic site visits to units, bases, supply depots, work centers, and GDLS locations
  • Interface with supply support organizations and help resolve supply management issues
  • Interface with other EMT groups for WLAV equipment not managed by the WLAV EMT
  • Log, prioritize, analyze, and respond to problem reports (PRs)
  • Prepare Statements of Work (SOWs) for technical work performed by contractors or other agencies
  • Evaluate proposals, reports, and demonstrations by contractors or other agencies
  • Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Equipment Support List Change Notice (ESLCNs) for supportability impacts and technical feasibility
  • Interface with DND scaling and cataloguing organizations
  • Maintain all technical and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) data held by the EMT
  • Maintain access and update all technical information in DRMIS
  • Co-ordinate updates to technical and ILS data performed by contractors
  • Performing vendor and Canadian Forces Base (CFB) site visits and investigate technical and CM/SE/ILS/LCMM issues with DND personnel
  • Provide technical support to the Supply Management Planners
  • Review all supply demands to validate the requirement, prioritize issues, and monitor stock levels to identify candidates for new procurement
  • Provide support in the analysis of the fleet supportability performance
  • Provide technical advice and support to CAF field units whether in domestic or foreign ops/exercises
  • Manage serialized equipment and tooling in DRMIS
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Exercises a mindset of continuous process improvements and efficiencies

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in Ottawa, ON
  • University degree or; College diploma or; previous experience as a Military Vehicle Technician or; Certified 310T Truck and Coach Mechanic
  • Minimum 5 years related experience
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
  • Detailed knowledge of DND maintenance and supply processes
  • Detailed product knowledge of WLAV automotive and/or turret systems
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain Level II security clearance
  • Knowledge of the theories, principles, policies, and procedures of the Canadian Federal Government and how they relate to life cycle management, inventory control, procurement and repair and overhaul
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to customer requirements and manage expectations while ensuring satisfaction
  • Customer and detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to be agile, set priorities and multi-task under pressure
  • Strong English oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and effective working in a team-oriented environment
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, with a focus on advanced Excel skills including Macros, Formulae, and Pivot Tables
  • Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions
  • Ability to travel (10% Canadian, 5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (French/English)
  • Previous Life Cycle Material Manager or Project Management experience
  • Detailed knowledge on use and application of DND departmental software such as CFSS, DRMIS (SAP), and CGCS
  • Extensive experience in DND equipment maintenance
  • LAV III Family of Vehicles Product Knowledge
  • LAV 6.0 Family of Vehicles Product knowledge
  • GEN II (Bison/Coyote) Vehicle Product Knowledge

Responsabilité principale

Le Représentant des services techniques est un membre clé de l’unité d’affaires Services d’usure de Castolin Eutectic. Il est responsable de fournir des solutions complètes de gestion de l’usure aux clients finaux au sein de comptes clés ciblés dans l’industrie minière. Ce rôle vise à tirer parti des technologies et services avancés de Castolin Eutectic pour développer et étendre le marché des produits et solutions résistants à l’usure dans la région de la ceinture aurifère de l’Abitibi.

Responsabilités

  • Développement du marché :

    • Stimuler la croissance des services d’usure de Castolin Eutectic, y compris les produits CDP wearplate, CastoChrome, Castodur, LaserClad, ainsi que d’autres produits et services complémentaires.

    • Cibler des comptes clés dans les industries minières, de la construction et de la fabrication.

  • Collaboration stratégique :

    • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec l’équipe des services, les chefs de produits et le marketing pour identifier les opportunités du marché.

    • Fournir un soutien technique et applicatif.

    • Développer des stratégies conjointes pour pénétrer le marché.

  • Engagement client :

    • Établir et entretenir des relations solides avec les comptes clés, y compris les utilisateurs finaux dans les secteurs miniers, de la construction et autres industries lourdes.

    • Comprendre leurs besoins et proposer des solutions adaptées.

  • Développement commercial :

    • Favoriser l’amélioration continue des approches techniques et commerciales.

  • Responsabilité des performances :

    • Assurer la réalisation des objectifs de volume de ventes, de revenus et d’amélioration des marges brutes pour les  solutions et services  Anti - usure.

Administration

  • Contribuer au développement d’un plan stratégique de croissance des services pour faire progresser la vision, la mission et les objectifs de l’organisation, tout en générant des revenus et de la rentabilité.

  • Identifier et communiquer efficacement les problèmes commerciaux critiques.

  • Représenter l’entreprise lors d’événements marketing, salons professionnels, conférences et ateliers de formation.

  • Maintenir la documentation à jour dans CRM et soumettre des rapports de dépenses hebdomadaires.

  • Effectuer d’autres tâches selon les besoins.

Exigences en matière d’éducation et d’expérience

  • Diplôme d’ingénieur en matériaux ou mécanique.

  • 5 à 10 ans d’expérience en vente industrielle, idéalement dans le domaine des services d’usure.

  • Solide compréhension des solutions de gestion de l’usure dans l’industrie lourde.

Compétences et aptitudes

  • Expertise technique : Connaissance de base de la soudure de maintenance et de réparation.

  • Aptitudes en vente : Mentalité de chasseur avec expérience en prospection à froid.

  • Connaissance du marché : Compréhension de base des clients clés et de leur position dans l’industrie.

  • Aptitude mécanique : Capacité à interpréter des dessins techniques.

  • Maîtrise informatique : Compétence avec Microsoft Office.

  • Communication : Excellentes compétences en communication consultative.

  • Autonomie : Motivation personnelle avec une forte gestion du temps.

  • Sens de l’organisation : Souci du détail et excellentes compétences en gestion du temps.

  • Capacité à voyager jusqu’à 60 %.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

The Technical Service Representative is a key member of the Wear Services Business Unit at Castolin Eutectic, responsible for delivering comprehensive wear solutions to end users within targeted key accounts in the mining industry.  This role focuses on leveraging Castolin Eutectic’s advanced technology and service offerings to develop and expand the market for wear-resistant products and solutions throughout the Abititibi Gold Belt Region.

Job Responsibility:

  • Market Development:  Drive the growth of Castolin Eutectic’s wear services, including CDP wearplate, CastoChrome, Castodur, LaserClad and other complementary products and services, by targeting key accounts in the mining industry, construction, and fabrication industries.

  • Strategic Collaboration:  Work closely with the Services Team, Product Managers and Marketing to identify market opportunities, provide technical and application support, and develop joint strategies for market penetration.

  • Customer Engagement:  Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, including but not limited to end users in mining, construction, and other heavy industries, to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.

  • Business Development:   Identify prospects and existing customers needs that fit the company’s services capabilities.  Develop strategies and messaging for new customer acquisition and existing customer expansion. 

  • Maintain an Opportunity Pipeline:   Within Dynamics CRM maintain an opportunity pipeline. 

  • Technical Support:  Provide technical, design, and product support to customers, addressing wear-related queries and assisting with proposals and quotations.

  • Market Intelligence:  Monitor competitor activities and pricing, providing timely feedback to inform strategic decisions and pricing strategies.

  • Business Planning:  Develop and implement objectives, strategies, and business plans to achieve growth targets.

  • Cross-Regional Collaboration:  Maintain contact and cooperation with other regions to share best practices and drive continuous improvement in technical and commercial approaches.

  • Performance Accountability:  Ensure the achievement of sales volumes, revenue targets, and enhanced gross profit margins for the Wear Services business.

A.    Administration

·    Support the development of a Services Growth Strategic Plan to help advance the organization's vision, mission, and objectives to generate revenue and profitability.

·    Responsible to identify and effectively communicate and support the resolution of critical business issues.

·    Represent the company at marketing events, trade shows, conferences, and training workshops.

·    Keep key documentation updated on CRM and deliver expense reports on a weekly basis.

·    Other tasks as defined

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Engineering degree in Materials or Mechanical

  • 5-10 years of relevant industrial sales experience in the wear services business.

  • Solid understanding of the wear management solutions offered in a variety of heavy industries. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic understanding of maintenance and repair welding.

  • Possess a hunter mentality with cold-calling experience.

  • Basic understanding of company key clients and their position in the industry

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Consultative communication skills

  • Self-motivated and self-directed individual

  • Knowledge of basic print reading skills

  • Well organized and detail-oriented and good with time management skills

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel up to 60%
