The Field Service Technician (Water Treatment Systems) is responsible for servicing water treatment systems, primarily water filtration equipment located in grocery stores. Technicians in this role are required to travel more than 40% of the time and be willing to travel by air and vehicle working at the external client sites across Ontario. The job holder will be based our office in the Greater Toronto Area, and the successful candidate should reside around the following locations: Mississauga, Oakville, Hamilton, Guelph or Kitchener.


Responsibilities


  • Deliver, install and maintain water treatment equipment providing excellent customer service
  • Routinely change water filters, clean and sanitize equipment, change UV bulbs and clear water lines
  • Conduct quarterly maintenance visits to maintain equipment in Ontario
  • Perform diagnostics and analysis to trouble-shoot and repair water treatment equipment.
  • Complete work orders and paperwork related to tasks in an accurate and timely manner
  • Prepares timely and detailed service report
  • Protect company assets, including maintaining company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good condition and working order in accordance with the company policy
  • Build positive relationships with customers through quality services and client-oriented attitude
  • Comply with all health and safety policies mandated by the company and customers


Qualifications


  • Willing to travel over 40% of the time
  • 3-5 years of related technical or installation experience with water treatment equipment an asset; plumbing experience preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical skills
  • Must be fluent in English, with the ability to read technical manuals, complete documentation, and communicate effectively with team members and the customers
  • Able to accommodate a flexible work schedule
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is included in our technician background check
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • The role requires the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, walking, standing, squatting, bending, walk with heavy equipment and driving for over 50% of the workday
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Job duties:

  • Identify and following up new business leads - ensuring enquiries are logged and responded to, including organizing site and client visits.

starter Field Technician to support our high purity water systems and services business. We design, 

manufacture and install complete turnkey water systems including ultrapure distribution loops for the 

institutional marketplace. Our innovative designs incorporate equipment which are listed with Health 

Canada as licensed Medical Devices. The Technician will install, service, troubleshoot, repair, and 

maintain critical high purity water systems at our customer facilities (life sciences, laboratory, 

healthcare, biotech, pharma, and advanced manufacturing). A successful candidate will have prior 

experience with water purification systems and equipment. The goal of the position is to drive 

service success that improves customer satisfaction, maximizes customer retention and increases 

profitability. Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): Field Service 

Our Services: 

· Health Science and Industrial Pure Water Treatment Solutions 

· Process Piping and Plumbing Repairs

· Must be able and willing to work flexible shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-

outs when assigned to on-call rotation schedule (1 week at a time).  

· Perform other plumbing related tasks as required.  

Requirements:  

· Adequate Electrical Troubleshooting Skills with regards to Switches, Motors, Fuses, and basic 

Circuitry.   

· Experience in Industrial and commercial environments  

· Able to work as part of a team and on their own.  

· Understanding of many aspects of Plumbing (installation, maintenance & troubleshooting).  

· Understanding of Water Testing and proper documentation 

· Thorough knowledge of standard practices and terminology in the field  

· Valid Ontario Plumbing certificate or equivalent  

· Minimum G Driver’s license and clean driving record  

· Ability to lift up to 20Kg and handle physical workload  

· Knowledge and ability to work with plumbing tools and devices safely

POSITION SUMMARY:


Milestone Environmental Contracting Inc. (MECI) is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Water Treatment Technician to join our dynamic field team. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of a variety of water treatment systems on project sites across the region. This includes mechanical installation, chemical handling, equipment calibration, system troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.


The ideal candidate has a mechanical mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a working knowledge of water treatment processes. You must be comfortable working in diverse and remote environments, adapting to varying shift schedules, and contributing to a safety-first culture.


As a Water Treatment Technician at MECI, you will play a key role in protecting the environment while supporting the success of complex construction and remediation projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Reads, understands and follows MECIs Corporate Health and Safety Program, Policy and Procedures
  • Keep training up to date in line with MECI programs
  • Participates in MECI safety touch program
  • Keep the sites neat and clean of debris
  • Maintain equipment and tools
  • Work closely with Supervisors around site equipment
  • Gain knowledge in small site equipment, and get trained to use that equipment
  • Majority of time will be on project sites; travel and work on remote sites across the region may be required
  • Shift duration and frequency is variable and dependent on project and client requirements. Shifts can include weekends and holidays
  • Complete site visit timesheets
  • Complete site visit checklists
  • Setup and Installation of water treatment equipment including:
    • Safe chemical handling and setup of chemical dosing equipment
    • Mechanical installation of pumps, piping and hoses
    • Supervision of electrical installation
    • Water sampling and coordination with labs for analytical results
    • Data logging and monitoring of equipment performance
    • System troubleshooting
    • Media and cartridge/bag filter changeouts
    • Calibration of instrumentation (pH, turbidity, conductivity, etc.)
    • General operations of water treatment systems (clarifiers, UF/MF, RO, carbon filters, media filters, ion exchange.)


Health & Safety:

  • Reads, understands and follows Milestones Corporate Environment, Health and Safety Program, Policy and Procedures.
  • Ensure health and safety is considered in the performance of all activities both on and off the job. Participation in H & S initiatives will be monitored and reviewed as necessary.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Construction industry exposure / experience
  • Understanding of water treatment systems
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools
  • Understanding of electrical systems and controls
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to maintain organizational and time management skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows, and other operational software
  • Ability to communicate with others in a confidential, positive and professional manner
  • Have some working knowledge of WorkSafe BC rules and regulations

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute laboratory-scale experiments to evaluate water treatment processes
  • Perform field-scale testing and on-site evaluations of treatment systems in construction, mining, and industrial settings
  • Provide field operation support on water treatment processes, PIDs, instrumentation setup, and electrical drawings
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and engineering reports
  • Support proposal development, including system descriptions, technical specifications, and cost estimates
  • Collaborate with project management teams to ensure successful commissioning of water treatment systems
  • Analyze operational data and recommend adjustments to chemical dosing, process parameters, and equipment operation
  • Provide on-site support for water treatment systems start-up, commissioning, trouble shooting and performance optimization
  • Support the Aquatech’s research and development activities for novel water treatment technologies and materials
  • Test new chemical formulations and treatment techniques to enhance process efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Work closely with project managers, estimators, engineers, and field staff to ensure cohesive project execution
  • Promote and act in compliance with Aquatech’s Health and Safety and Environmental Management
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment during lab and field activities


Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree in engineering is an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-In-Training license or Eligible to become P.Eng.
  • 3-5 years of experience in water treatment, field commissioning of water treatment systems. and specific experience in municipal, mining or construction sector is required.
  • Strong background in water chemistry and water treatment processes is required
  • Laboratory research and development experience is considered as an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially strong skills with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills in technical writing, public speaking, email correspondence, and presentation preparation.
