The Role

As a fish processing plant worker, your duties include, but are not limited to:

Cutting, cleaning, trimming, filleting, and scaling fish.

Inspecting fish fillets to determine the optimal number and size of fillet sections. Install and operate machinery to clean, cut, process, and package fresh fish products in accordance with our safety and quality operating procedures.

Inspect products and packaging to ensure quality and compliance with company standards, making any necessary adjustments.

Inspect products to ensure quality standards are met.

Pack or wrap fish for shipping.

Maintain a clean work area.

*This position requires standing for extended periods and the use of hand tools, including knives and tongs.

The Role

This position requires a degree of specialized expertise and skill in maintaining established standards of safety, quality and accuracy. The successful candidate will have the drive, determination and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet the established criteria.

Key Responsibilities:

• Grid installation
• Inspection/repair
• Cage and net installation and removal
• Net washing
• General site maintenance
• Harvest assistance may be required, along with other duties

Qualifications:

• Fishing Master IV
• Willing to travel locally.

* Rotating and flexible work hours are required.

* As per company policy, a clear result of a pre-employment criminal background check is required.

As a leader of the maintenance barge crew, you must be able to exercise the necessary authority to assure policies and procedures are followed and time frames are met. Excellent people management and communication skills are essential to build effective crew and organizational relationships.

Le Poste

En raison de notre croissance continue, nous recherchons un(e) Spécialiste en santé et sécurité pour nos sites de Hermitage et St. Albans, T.-N.-L. Ce poste relève directement du Directeur de la santé et sécurité. Le ou la candidat(e) retenu(e) devra faire preuve de détermination, d’autonomie et d’une approche disciplinée pour atteindre les résultats selon les critères établis.

Responsabilités clés

• Assurer la conformité avec la Loi provinciale sur la santé et la sécurité au travail et ses règlements.
• Veiller à ce que les employés respectent les programmes, politiques et procédures de santé et sécurité de l’entreprise.
• Réaliser des évaluations des risques, des audits et des inspections dans les couvoirs, les installations de transformation et les sites marins.
• Mener des enquêtes sur les incidents, en assurant un rapport rapide et la mise en œuvre de mesures correctives.
• Collaborer avec des équipes interfonctionnelles pour intégrer la sécurité dans la planification opérationnelle et la prise de décision.
• Aider la direction à développer des pratiques visant à intégrer la santé et la sécurité dans toutes les opérations commerciales.
• Soutenir les gestionnaires dans l’élaboration de pratiques de travail sécuritaires et la mise en œuvre des meilleures pratiques et normes de l’industrie.

Qualifications

• 3 à 5 ans d’expérience dans le domaine de la santé et sécurité.
• Solide connaissance de la législation canadienne en matière de santé et sécurité et des meilleures pratiques de l’industrie.
• Expérience avérée en enquête d’incident, identification des dangers et atténuation des risques.
• Excellentes compétences interpersonnelles et à l’aise avec la gestion de conflits.
• Capacité à analyser les problèmes et à formuler des recommandations appropriées.
• Expérience dans un environnement marin est un atout.
• Expérience dans une usine de transformation alimentaire est un atout.
• Certificat et/ou diplôme en santé et sécurité est un atout.
• Capacité à voyager dans la province de Terre-Neuve, parfois à court préavis.

The Role

As a result of continued growth, we are seeking a Health & Safety Specialist in our Hermitage and St. Albans, NL locations. This position will report directly to the Director of Health & Safety. The successful candidate will have the drive, determination, and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet the established criteria.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with provincial Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
• Ensure employee compliance with company H&S Programs, policies and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections across hatcheries, processing facilities, and marine sites.
• Lead incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into operational planning and decision-making.
• Assist management in developing practices for integrating health and safety into all business operations.
• Assist managers in developing safe work practices and implementing industry best practices and standards.

Qualifications

• 3 – 5 years’ experience working in the Health & Safety field.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian Health & Safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Proven experience in incident investigation, hazard identification, and risk mitigation.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and comfortable handling conflict.
• Ability to analyze problems and make appropriate recommendations.
• Experience in a marine environment an asset.
• Experience in a food processing plant an asset.
• Health & Safety certificate and/or diploma an asset.
• Ability to travel within the province of Newfoundland when required, potentially on short notice.
