Four Counties Addiction Services Team (Fourcast) is a community-based addiction treatment service provider that strives to provide the highest quality of evidence-based addiction treatment and case management services. Fourcast offers services across 5 sites in the region. The community treatment program staff work in-office and community settings and are often co-located and integrated with other organizations to reduce barriers for those accessing services. About The Position. This position is part time working 3 days one week and the next 2 days. Fourcast’s Addiction Counsellors provides evidence-based addiction screening, assessment, and treatment interventions that utilize Motivation Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and other approaches aimed to improve service user recovery and change outcomes. Counselling is provided in individual and group settings and can include working with those wanting to make changes to their substance use and/or gambling, or others who are impacted by another’s substance use and/or gambling. The Addiction Counsellor works collaboratively with other Fourcast programs and community resources to navigate supports that best suit a service user’s plans for change. Case consultation, case conferencing and advocacy with community partners and services are an integral part of the Addiction Counsellor role. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Addiction Wellness Advisor to join our dynamic healthcare team. The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority is a proactive and growing healthcare organization that provides health program support to its four northern partners: Prince Albert Grand Council, Meadow Lake Tribal Council, Lac La Ronge Indian Band, and Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.
POSITION MANDATE
The Addictions Wellness Advisor is responsible for providing leadership and expertise in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies related to the Substance Use and Addiction program. This position supports NITHAs second-level service providers and works collaboratively with the four NITHA partners to develop a comprehensive framework and model of service delivery that encompasses prevention, assessment, education, intervention, treatment, and aftercare for substance use and addiction. The Addictions Wellness Advisor will work closely with the NITHA Mental Wellness Advisor and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care and promote harm reduction strategies, relapse prevention, and long-term sobriety.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Our ideal candidate will be an innovative professional with the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field from a recognized university or a relevant field. A Masters degree will be an asset.
- Must be eligible or registered with a professional licensing body in Addictions Counselling, such as CADC, CACCF, CCAC, ACHP or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of combined experience that reflects work in the areas of substance use and addiction.
- Certification in ASIST or CISM, or related training, and/or be willing to become certified.
- Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and 12-Step Facilitation.
- Ability to apply knowledge of best practices related to models of care, research, and trends in the field of substance use and addictions.
- Knowledge of harm reduction, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care approaches.
- Maintains positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, exercising diplomacy, judgement and tact.
- Provide evidence of previous proposal/policy framework development.
- Knowledge of community development.
- Maintains a high degree of confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
- Experience working respectfully with First Nations people and organizations and demonstrating cultural awareness, sensitivity, and competency.
- Advanced computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, desktop publishing, and Windows.
- A valid Class 5 drivers license is required.

Position Description: The Addiction Worker performs a broad range of activities including but not limited to overnight monitoring and assigned tasks; brief interventions; individual counseling, information and referral; health promotion; utilize EMHware to record case notes as required; and liaising with community and allied services, resources, partners and referral sources. ABOUT THE ROLE
Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, Withdrawal Management Program, the Addiction Crisis Worker (ACW) is responsible for the physical well-being of the clients and environment involved in the withdrawal management program. Key responsibilities include admitting and assessing individuals suffering from substance abuse; safely managing withdrawal and/or safely sobering from substance use and their safe exit after, providing support, service planning and stabilization; performing all routine duties in maintaining a withdrawal management program.

WHAT YOU BRING
Education/Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years post secondary education in a Human Services field (eg. addictions social work psychology) and/or a combination of addictions training and previous working experience in an addiction field
Previous experience in behaviour management
Current CPR and First Aid certification
Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of addiction issues, crisis management and conflict resolution skills
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills and excellent time management skills
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Asset:
- Experience with computer based data entry is an asset
Conditions of Employment:
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
- Offers of employment made to external candidates are conditional upon providing proof of a complete primary series of Health Canada approved mRNA COVID-19 vaccine or proof of valid medical exemption, prior to the offered effective date. Position: Weekend Addiction Worker, Bed-Based Treatment Program
Position Description: The Addiction Worker performs a broad range of activities including but not limited to overnight monitoring and assigned tasks; brief interventions; individual counseling, information and referral; health promotion; utilize EMHware to record case notes as required; and liaising with community and allied services, resources, partners and referral sources. The Addiction Worker prepares and updates templates and group programming handouts, ensures the security of the buildings and kitchen at night, checks the status of the defibrillators, and monitors the setting during the shift period.
Job Type: Part-time permanent; 16 hours/week; 2 positions: Saturday and Sunday 8am-4pm; and Saturday and Sunday 4pm-12am
Salary: $23.38 hourly
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of issues related to addiction, concurrent disorder, mental health, trauma and recovery.
Knowledge and understanding of community addiction and mental health case management services.
Knowledge of the spectrum of harm reduction and abstinence approaches to problematic substance use.
Experience with EMHware an asset.
Understanding and commitment to health equity, diversity and inclusivity.
Experience utilizing various approaches to substance use and recovery.
Skilled in managing individuals who are anxious or escalated, including strong crisis de-escalation skills.
Experience and skills working with individuals affected by poverty, violence, homelessness, institutionalization (incarceration), stigma, racism and/or homophobia/transphobia.
Knowledge of the impact of social/cultural/economic factors on the determinants of health.
Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the complexity of issues arising for individuals who have experienced homelessness, addictions, poverty and/or mental illness.
Ability to work collaboratively within and across interdisciplinary teams and community partners.
Ability to work with clients presenting with a wide range of mental health issues.
Demonstrated flexibility, sound judgment, initiative and creativity.
Demonstrated capacity to thrive and engage in a dynamic and changing work environment.
Experience working within an anti-oppression and trauma informed framework.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications.
Experience working in a residential setting is an asset.
Qualifications:
University or College Degree in a related field OR equivalent education and related work experience.
Demonstrated experience in addictions work, supportive counseling and brief intervention.
Demonstrated experience in motivational interviewing.
Demonstrated experience with crisis management and de-escalation.
Additional training in screening, assessment and treatment related to concurrent disorder and trauma an asset.
Proficiency and ability to work in both French and English is an asset.
Ability to work in a language in addition to English is an asset
