Job Purpose
The Cargo Agent is responsible for the general oversight, direction, and coordination of cargo operations. This includes but is not limited to overseeing the shipment of cargo in and out of the terminal, ensuring that all shipments are picked up and delivered in a safe, accurate and timely manner, and confirming all paperwork is completed and fees are collected, while maintaining excellent customer service and adhering to all Transport Canada regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Advise clients on transportation and payment options.
- Ensure consistent and superior customer service through awareness of customer needs, and trends.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards customers and staff within a fast-paced work environment.
- Ensure compliance with and enforcement of policies and procedures as established by the company, legislation, and related regulations.
Cargo
- Accept and handle cargo in accordance with the Cargo Security Screening Program.
- Process dangerous goods shipments.
- Determine shipping methods and routes from drop off to destination.
- Advise customers on postal rates, shipping costs, and other charges.
- Prepare bills of lading, invoices, receipts, and other required shipping documents.
- Record information such as cargo amount, weight, dimensions, and time of shipment.
- Trace lost shipment as necessary.
Ground Services
- Assist with ground services including aircraft taxiing procedures, aircraft marshalling, greeting customers, and professional baggage/cargo handling.
- Assist in the coordination of baggage/cargo with the corresponding flight.
- Operate and maintain ground support vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and tidy cargo facility and work environment.
General Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the company's vision, mission, and values.
- Handle irregular operations or customer complaints such as lost cargo in a timely manner.
- Receive phone calls and respond to various booking enquiries.
- Maintain current knowledge of all necessary Transport Canada rules, regulations, and policies.
- Foster a team-based environment through collaborative working relationships.
- Ensure optimal communication with all employees and internal partners.
- Participate in special projects as required.
- Continuously update job knowledge by participating in training and other educational opportunities.
- Protect Company values by keeping information confidential.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety programs to promote an incident and injury free culture.
Qualifications
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position include a high school diploma, with one to two years' progressive customer service experience or related role. Previous work experience or training in aviation is considered an asset.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities include:
- Demonstrated experience in serving a diverse and complex customer base.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a provincial driver's license and an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP).
- Strong understanding of airline, aircraft, and ground handling procedures as they relate to aviation services.
- Proven relationship management skills and demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate and negotiate with both internal partners and external stakeholders to achieve results.
- Professional judgement and well-defined conflict resolution skills in handling sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and high ethical standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Sound problem solving, decision-making, analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects and tasks and execute effectively and in a timely manner.
- Strong leadership skills and a hands-on, self-motivated, and demonstrated positive, can-do attitude.

- Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications and software specific to company operations.
- Ability to support, strengthen and enhance safety initiatives.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the following:
- Provincial class 5 driver's license.
- Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP).
- Radio License.
- Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
- WHIMS and Dangerous Goods Awareness Training.

Pacific Coastal Airlines is headquartered at the South Terminal building at Vancouver International Airport. We fly scheduled and charter service between busy international airports, remote destinations in beautiful province of British Columbia.
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has excellent phone and people skills and enjoys working in an ever-changing environment where multi-tasking and flexibility are the key attributes.
Note: Call Centre duties will be the primary (75%) responsibility of this role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Respond to phone inquiries regarding fares, schedules, routings, etc.
- Book, change and cancel flight reservations
- Resolve service disruption issues over the phone and in person, determining alternative flight options
- Check-in passengers, issue boarding passes, verify immigration documents
- Check baggage and collect excess baggage/overweight charges
- Execute deplaning and boarding processes, ensuring a safe, on-time departure
- Process cargo shipments
- Possess an excellent understanding of company products, services, processes, and guidelines and promote them at all times
- Commitment to providing a safe, stress-free, and friendly passenger experience
- Deliver service standards in accordance with Pacific Coastal Airlines philosophy
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Experience in customer service
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
- Clear and effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to have difficult conversations
- Ability to work in a time-sensitive, ever changing environment where multitasking and problem solving are key attributes
- Comfortable using computers, credit and debit machines
- Able to work outdoors during inclement weather conditions
- Flexible to work weekends, evenings, holidays and/or irregular shifts
- Must represent Pacific Coastal Airline in a professional manner to our partners, vendors, and customers
- Must be able to obtain and maintain designated security clearance
- Capable of lifting up to 70 pounds

Tasks & Responsibilities
- Prepare files for import
- Monitor & process shipments
- Manage documents from carriers and brokers
- Arrange customs clearance and delivery for shipments
- Manage unique, client-based logistic requirements
- Invoicing shipments
Required
- 1–2-year experience in a logistic or supply chain function or equivalent education
- Global logistics industry knowledge
- Computer proficiency (MS Excel, MS Word)
- Excellent communication skills (English)
Preferred
- Experience in logistic operations, domestic transportation, or dispatch role.

En collaboration avec les autres membres de l’équipe, vous participez au bon déroulement des activités au sol entourant les aéronefs en marche en lien avec les arrivées-départs, guidage, remorquage, ravitaillement, bagages, escorte des passagers et du personnel navigant. Vous effectuez l’entretien et les réparations mineures sur l’immeuble, les équipements et les systèmes et faites le suivi et complétez la documentation pertinente des travaux d’entretien. Vous participez activement à offrir une expérience des plus agréable à notre clientèle.

- D.E.S. et expérience pertinente d’agent de rampe;
- Vous êtes reconnu pour votre ponctualité et comprenez l’importance de la sécurité et des risques associés au travail sur la rampe;
- Vous êtes motivé, enthousiaste et énergique et participez positivement à l’esprit d’équipe;
- Vous avez une bonne capacité physique et aimez le travail à l’extérieur;
- Vous êtes bilingue (français et anglais). Connaissance de la culture et de la langue crie un atout;
- Vous possédez un permis de conduire valide.
- Vous êtes disponible en semaine et sur fin de semaine (jour-soir) suivant une rotation hebdomadaire avec les autres membres de l’équipe. Il n’y a pas de quart de travail de nuit.
