ABOUT YOU:

We are looking for a smart, articulate Application Engineer capable of designing Gas Detection systems for condo towers, arenas, breweries, and everything in between. Your job will be to review engineering plans, understand the application, design systems, create drawings & submittal packages, and then support the customer through installation. Dont worry if youre not familiar with Gas Detection; just bring your engineering mindset and desire to learn and we will get you trained up.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review plans & project specifications received from customers
  • DesignGas Detection systems for a wide variety of applications & prepare quotes for customers
  • Create project drawings quotes & submittals packages for dealers and engineers
  • Provide post-sale technical & installation support for projects you design
  • Deliver technical training and education to dealers, technicians, and engineers
  • Share insights with the broader CET team and provide input on product direction


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present to a group in person and/or virtually


BONUS EXPERIENCE:

  • Industry Experience - Experience with Gas Detection, HVAC, Controls, and/or Instrumentation
  • Plans/Drafting - Familiar with building plans and software used to edit them

What would a typical day look like?

  • Formulates competitive bids/estimates/quotations, considering best available product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations for each individual situation. Ensures tenders are well documented in a timely manner and with appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs.
  • Manages the preparation of all technical (e.g., defining the most suitable technology and product type(s)), financial (e.g., total price sheet, cash flow analysis) and if necessary, project management (e.g., quantifies hours of engineering and commissioning) aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions.

  • Collects and archives documentation regarding the offer/order and records assumptions and decisions taken during the development process.
  • Regularly reports the status of the bids/estimates/quotations using defined tools and collects and analyses the reasons for tenders being lost and won.
  • Identifies potential risks in the bids, quotations, and estimates, and in any related contract agreements across customers/channels.
  • Provides information and/or participates in the Risk Review process in accordance with Classic Design policy.
  • Responsible for collecting and collating all information needed to prepare the proposal, including both technical and cost elements.
