Your Opportunity
The Toronto office is seeking an architect to join its Buildings Studio. The primary role of the Architect is to interpret and translate the needs and desires of our clients, in collaboration with our multi-disciplinary teams, into cohesive design solutions. This process will involve production of drawings (2D/3D), and written material to support the conceptual direction of the project. This individual will often be required to present their ideas in formal and informal settings with a willingness and desire to hear and respond to constructive feedback. An individual at this level in their career is expected to perform their role within the standard of care acceptable to their peers in the industry. The architect is expected to work collaboratively with the broader team, conceptualizing, developing and documenting varying aspects of the design of a project, including but not limited to site and space planning, developing elevations, sections and architectural details, and product research.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Supports project teams in development of design documentation.
- Assists in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
- Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
- Participates in design critiques and pin-ups.
- Interprets and applies building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
- Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details.
- Coordinates building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
- Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
- Coordination of specs with construction documents.
- Assists in the evaluation and selection of building systems and materials.
- Attends project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
- Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
- Implements sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment.
- Assists in site analysis, research of concept, benchmark, typology, and precedents.

- To interpret sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material.
- Highly effective communication skills- verbally, graphically and in written form, clients understand your ideas and the way you share them.
- Ability to work directly with leadership and end users to identify and prioritize needs in order to deliver optimal solutions.
- To present abstract ideas to the client and client representatives.
- To apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, sustainability goals, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity.
- Knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials, and industry associated standards.
- Requires a strong understanding of the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Requires strong software skills- Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp.
Education and Experience
OAA Registered Architect is a requirement.
Minimum of 10 years' experience is required.
LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Managing complex tasks on multiple, large scope, highly complex projects
- Effectively participates and helps to win work in interviews for potential projects
- Plans, organizes, and directs the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client
- Keeps the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverables and understands the limits of the decision-making responsibilities of the role and respects the boundaries of the Principal in Charge's responsibilities
- Assists in the negotiation and development of project agreements
- Develops and manages project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance
- Mentors assistant Project Managers and motivates project teams
- Assures that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented
- Leads project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors
- Manages and tracks change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule
- Ability to conduct senior peer review of deliverables, including Building Condition Assessments and Tender Documents
- Works with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel
- Travel to small communities to conduct building condition assessments or review construction progress
- Directs client invoicing and effectively manages collections
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Extensive project experience supporting our team's ability to win work during proposal responses
- Capable of simultaneously supporting one or more Principal's in Charge on multiple projects
- Ability to prepare design and building condition assessment reports
- Excellent understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, northern building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite; prefer experience with Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp
- Proactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction or guidance
- Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities
- Team player with the client, project team and contractor
- Excellent negotiator and communicator
Education and Experience
- The role requires a professional degree in Architecture and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
- Registered or able to become registered within one year, as an Architect with a Canadian Architects Association
- Preferential credentials include: a LEED Green Associate or LEED AP, Lean project management or PMP, Contract Administration or Certified Specification Writer, and/or related Building Science or Technical.
Typical office environment working with computers. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered. Occasional field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

**Pay Range:**
- Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 84,500.00 - Max Salary $ 122,400.00
**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

-3+ years of experience as an Application or Solution Architect.
-Solid background in software development, within the Microsoft .NET ecosystem.
-Proven experience with Order Management Systems (OMS).
-Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms and workflows.
-Demonstrated success in leading migration projects.
