Our client, a well established Architecture and Design firm, is seeking a skilled Project Manager to manage and coordinate projects and project teams from their Calgary office. This firm emphasize a collaborative and progressive work culture and are involved in variety of high level design project types.
THE JOB
As a Project Manager, at ideally an advanced intermediate or senior level, you will oversee project phases through design development, construction documents preparation, and construction period services. The successful candidate will work with project coordination, site visits, project financials, manage client relationships, team communication and liaise with municipal authorities, and you will be responsible for reviewing work, quality control and ensuring projects are delivered to set budget and timelines. Ultimately, you will oversee the successful execution of projects, in collaboration with the senior partners and architects in the firm. You will also have hands on involvement with projects, with technical work and some design input.
WHAT'S REQUIRED
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 8+ years' relevant experience in the North American Architectural Industry.
- Registration as an Intern or Architect in Canada is preferred but not essential (technologist or architecture related background/education considered)
- Broad skill set, including at least 4+ years of project management or project coordination experience
- Multi-disciplinary experience with a variety of mid to large sized project work experience required, including multi-family, civic, commercial, hospitality, residential preferred
- PMP Designation an asset
- Good knowledge of the Alberta Building code
- Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD are preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in building technology including wood frame, steel and concrete construction on multi million dollar projects
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral

Weu2019re looking for a Project Manager to lead large-scale industrial construction projects, including our retail support centers. This role requires deep experience managing complex builds from start to finishu2014coordinating teams, overseeing budgets, and ensuring compliance across all phases. Youu2019ll play a key role in translating technical plans into operational success, while partnering closely with internal stakeholders.
Hereu2019s where youu2019ll be focusing:
Project Planning & Coordination
Review geotechnical and environmental reports
Coordinate drawings, specifications, and contract documents for accuracy and completeness
Align all aspects of the project with retail operations, including consultants, contractors, and equipment delivery
Communicate schedules and phasing to key personnel and facility operators
Budgeting & Contract Management
Establish and evaluate construction costs; serve as a resource for budget planning
Issue, negotiate, and finalize contract changes
Submit change order requests and CAR extensions for management approval
Scrutinize and approve/reject invoices and monthly progress claims
Execution & Quality Assurance
Ensure timely ordering of long-lead equipment and approval of shop drawings
Oversee inspections and testing of key components; manage documentation and follow-up
Conduct final inspections with consultants and municipal authorities
Obtain and distribute as-built drawings, warranties, and maintenance manuals
Lead year-end warranty inspections and final area certifications
Team & Stakeholder Engagement
Direct consultant involvement for technical verifications (e.g., air balancing, CPC panel wiring)
Participate in post-project interviews with National Finance
What you have to offer:
Bacheloru2019s degree or diploma in Construction or Architectural Technology
8+ years of hands-on project management experience across all construction disciplines, with a strong focus on retail commercial developments
Proven experience in industrial construction, ideally involving retail support centers, distribution hubs, or operational facilities
Strong understanding of construction budgets, scheduling, and contract administration
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results
Bilingual in English and French would be an asset, as the candidate will be expected to collaborate with peers in other provinces and provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada.
