Position Description
We are seeking a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineer to join its Inspection Technology Unit (ITU) within the Inspection Technical Support Division.
The ITU is responsible for the development and deployment of advanced inspection technologies to ensure asset integrity across upstream and downstream operations. The unit focuses on qualifying and implementing innovative solutions—particularly In-Line Inspection (ILI) systems—to improve pipeline safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
As a Non-Destructive Testing Engineer, your primary role is to lead the evaluation and implementation of NDT technologies, especially ILI systems, to enhance pipeline integrity strategies
Duties and Responsibilities
As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:
- Evaluate emerging NDT and ILI technologies
- Provide technical guidance on application, and support their deployment across pipeline operations.
- Oversee the technical performance of ILI tools in the field
- Collaborate with vendors to improve data quality and tool capabilities
- Assist in validating inspection results through field verification and integration with inspection programs.
- Promote the adoption of advanced inspection methodologies to detect and manage critical pipeline anomalies such as corrosion, cracking, and geometry defects, ensuring alignment with safety, compliance, and operational excellence standards.
Minimum Requirements
As the successful candidate you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Advance degree is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 20 years of professional experience in asset inspection and non-destructive testing technologies, including hands-on involvement in inline inspection operations and data interpretation.
- NDT Level III certification in at least two inspection methods.
- Ability to apply international codes and standards relevant to inspection operations, such as API, ASME, and AWS.
- Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of pipeline inspection principles, including pigging operations, pipeline cleaning, and inline inspection tool validation techniques.
- Experience identifying and analyzing damage mechanisms detected via inline inspection, such as corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, weld anomalies, dents, and cracks.
- Familiar with high-resolution inspection technologies used in inline tools, including magnetic flux leakage, ultrasonic testing, and electromagnetic acoustic transducer systems.
- Capability to analyze inline inspection results and provide technical support for run/rerun decisions, dig verification campaigns, and fitness-for-service assessments.
- Knowledge of AI and machine learning integration for predictive pipeline integrity assessments is preferred.
- Proficiency in interpreting inspection data using advanced analytics software.
- Ability demonstrates strong economic analysis, planning, and budgeting skills to support inspection strategy development and implementation.
