The role of Industrial Automation Solutions Architect will play a key role as part of the Information Systems group, with responsibilities to all regions of the company. This is a vital role in the development of the overall Information/MES/IIoT solution architectures for our customers. Successful applicants will be involved in every stage of the solutions implementation process including consultancy, assessment, requirement gathering and specification, solution architecting and development, technical implementation, user training and commissioning.


The Industrial Automation Solutions Architect role is perfectly suited for those who have excellent conceptual thinking as well as people skills and who are seeking an exciting career in a growing organization. Candidates with an academic and professional background in System Design, Computer Science, Electrical, Computer Engineering or a business degree with industrial and/or computer development experience will be considered.


What Would a Typical Day Look Like?

  • Involvement in pre-sales support, develop overall solution architecture, requirements specification and system design, as well as construction and implementation.
  • Perform gap analysis and determine best approach to address the gaps.
  • Act as functional lead on a variety of projects
  • Facilitate functional re-use in solution architecting.
  • Building crucial relationships with key global partners within the manufacturing software scope of responsibility
  • Participating in strategy determination with team leadership and global partners to promote the adoption of partner product suite in North America
  • Being responsible for maintaining deep domain specific knowledge of Information/MES/IIoT solution architectures available in the manufacturing software space
  • Provide learning and mentoring to others across the corporation.


What Qualifies You for this Opportunity?

  • 7-10 years of experience in the manufacturing software arena, particularly using software that can be described as Information/MES/IIoT
  • Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment and with industrial controls
  • Proven expertise in areas such as requirements specification, architecting solutions, systems analysis, and design.
  • Certified with Inductive Automation’s Ignition Platform software; experience with Sepasoft and/or Cirrus Link Solutions integrated modules an asset.
  • Demonstrable understanding of industrial automation PLC platforms, network design and implementation, OT/IT configurations, production and engineering processes.
  • Advanced experience using industrial software packages provided by any or all the following vendors: Rockwell, Siemens, Aveva/Wonderware and GE.
  • Experience with network architecture design, system virtualization, and associated design tools
  • Experience using software and systems like MQTT, Azure DevOps, AWS, Node-Red, and Docker an asset.
  • Development experience using Python, Java, JavaScript, and/or Microsoft .NET
  • Experience with database software such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and/or InfluxDB
  • Familiar with application development methodologies, techniques and standards, configuration management, middleware, networking and communication, and hardware configuration
  • Project management experience an asset.

The Director will collaborate closely with the Director of Operations, Branch Managers across North America, a team of direct reports (Business Development Managers), and the Vice President of Sales. Together, they will drive the growth of Process Automation sales within targeted accounts. Our primary focus will be on specific industries, including Oil & Gas, Chemical, Agriculture, and other continuous processes. The Director will effectively coordinate marketing, sales, solution development, and account management efforts with JMP Business Units dedicated to serving these industries.


What Would a Typical Day Look Like?

General Management and Planning Group Participation

  • Achieve business targets on a regular and consistent basis (referred to as the sales operating plan).
  • Planning Group participation – Be a key participant in the development and execution of the Divisional Sales operating plan for the current and upcoming fiscal years. This includes JMP’s Strategic Planning Management Process (SPM) where we define and set our annual and three-year objectives and goals.
  • Collaborate with other managers to develop business plans for different verticals and service areas as well as support cross sell across the Convergix platform.
  • Work with strategic partners to assist in annual joint account planning initiatives.
  • Develop business relationships with targeted customers and influencers in the process control space.
  • As part of Sales Leadership Team – provide advice, guidance, and feedback to the Vice President of Sales, as well as to the Executive Team as needed.

Business Development and Account Management

  • Participate in marketing activities such as trade shows, seminars, and content development for web materials, white papers, and specific target account collaterals.
  • Provide input to other Business Development Managers to develop solution marketing concepts and plan.

Solution Development

  • Provide input and/or leadership to develop vertical solution concepts.

Career Development

  • Develop and document Process Automation account management practices for adoption by JMP customer service/account management staff.

Our client is a company building the world's highest- performance pure digital AI inference chip.
They are seeking a Software Architect to lead their software efforts and advance the software stack that includes ML frameworks, compilers, libraries, and runtime. As a Software Architect, you will be responsible for designing and developing software that interacts with their chip, collaborating with hardware and software engineers, and optimizing software for highly parallel architectures to maximize performance and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Advance the state of the art in compiler and runtime technology for delivering high-performance acceleration of AI workloads across a variety of neural network architectures.
  • Research and design new software and hardware AI solutions, involving simulators, optimizing compilers, code generators, and runtime execution frameworks for deep learning accelerators.
  • Evaluate various trade-offs of different parallelization strategies such as performance, power, energy, and memory consumption.
  • Enhance AI software tools to support the latest and greatest DNNs emerging from the research community and industry.
  • Keep up with the fast-paced development happening in the industry and academia to continuously enhance our products.
  • Work closely with other software and hardware engineers to develop the next generation of deep learning software.
  • Collaborate with architects and hardware engineers to co-design future accelerators.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience developing software for a variety of highly parallel architectures.
  • Previous roles include experience with optimizing algorithms for hardware acceleration machine learning accelerators, spatial architectures, or GPUs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex issues with a high level of ambiguity.
  • Understanding of Deep Learning fundamentals.
  • Strong development skills in C/C++, Python.
  • Superb soft skills: ability to work efficiently and effectively in a group environment, and influence a cross-functional team without having direct managerial authority.
  • Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree; preferably MS or PhD.
  • Driven and self-directed.
