Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance & Automation Engineering Manager to lead plant maintenance operations, reliability programs, and automation initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring maximum operational efficiency, asset utilization, and equipment reliability, while reducing downtime through strategic preventive and predictive maintenance programs. This position also leads automation projects to enhance manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and overall plant performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise plant technical support staff, including mechanics, technicians, electricians, assistants, and outside contractors.
- Set priorities for projects and departmental activities, engaging external maintenance contractors as required.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Time-Based Maintenance (TBM), Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), and Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs for all equipment, plant utilities, and facilities.
- Ensure maximum efficiency and safe operation of facilities and production equipment.
- Recommend and oversee equipment modifications and upgrades.
- Optimize asset utilization and reduce unplanned stoppages through scheduled preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Create and maintain training programs to enhance the technical knowledge and troubleshooting techniques.
- Oversee facilities maintenance, including Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), electrical, and other building systems.
- Manage the procurement and inventory of maintenance parts and supplies to meet reliability and cost objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in plant engineering and plant maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of experience in a managerial leadership role.
- Leadership experience in maintenance project and engineering management.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with an innovative approach to solving mechanical problems.
- Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-controlled machines.
- Ability to operate power tools and common hand tools safely and effectively.
- Fluency in Chinese is considered an asset.

Position Summary/Objective:
As an Automation Engineering Specialist, you are responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing automated systems, while leading and supporting automation initiatives across various industrial projects. This role requires staying up to date with the best practices and emerging solutions in the market. The automation engineering specialist will lead the design and implementation of new automated solutions in collaboration with operations, OEMs and local integrators to enhance operational efficiency, quality and reliability. The automation engineering specialist will participate in process improvements by modifying automation systems and ensuring integration between the existing and new machinery as needed.

- Lead CAPEX automation projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Lead and actively participate in the automation scope of various CAPEX projects.
- Develop and manage project plans, budget, and timelines.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, OEMs and integrators to achieve project goals.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Lead the implementation of SCADA systems for both existing and new lines or machinery to gather performance data that supports the decision-making process.
- Develop and continuously update automation URS (User Requirement Specifications) for new assets.
- Design automation systems and control network architectures in collaboration with OEMs for new machinery. Perform hardware and software selection based on project requirements and Riverside automation standards.
- Lead and support the IO testing, dry commissioning and wet commissioning of new machinery.
- Design the automation integration of new assets in existing production lines.
- Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams. Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on complicated and/or recurring automation failures.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including electrical diagrams, control network diagrams, manuals, functional descriptions, automation devices backups.
- Other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships
- This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Completion of Control/Automation or Electrical Engineering program and certification or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 6 years in an automation role with:
- Min. 2 years of experience preferably in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Min. 4 years of experience leading automation projects in the industry
- Strong knowledge of control system and control network design.
- Familiarity with robotics, motion control, and vision systems is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience working with SCADA platforms.
- Proficiency in PLC, HMI, VFD, servo drives and industrial network devices programming.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong project management and organization abilities
- Capable of following technical direction while also demonstrating the ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments.
- Possess strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a results-oriented and highly organized approach.
- Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting electrical drawings, P&ID drawings, and control network drawings.
- Working experience with equipment such as vertical wrapper, horizontal wrappers, robotics pick and place, tunnel oven is an asset.

Description de poste : gestionnaire de projet en automatisation
Travaillera en équipe afin de compléter les mandats en génie d’usines alimentaires dans le domaine des procédés de transformation alimentaire (échangeurs de chaleur, CIP, pompes sanitaires, valves de contrôles) de la mise en place de système de support d’utilités et des lignes de conditionnement (convoyeurs, embouteilleuse, étiqueteuse, palettiseurs, empaqueteuse, Stretch Wrapper, sécurité des machines, analyse de la productivité d'une ligne de production).
Peut être appelé.e à faire de la conception, de la programmation ou à faire une gestion plus globale des projets auquel cas il ou elle doit superviser des consultants et autres professionnels. En plus d’un français courant, le bilinguisme est un atout afin de communiquer efficacement avec un large éventail de parties prenantes, notamment nos clients, nos partenaires et nos collègues à l’extérieur du Québec.
Principales responsabilités
- Participer à la rédaction et à la négociation d’offres de services et participer à l’estimation des heures requises pour la réalisation de la partie électrique d’un projet;
- Collaborer avec les autres divisions;
- Élaborer l’échéancier du projet (Gantt Chart);
- Établir le budget du projet et effectuer son suivi;
- Organiser et gérer les rencontres avec le client, les fournisseurs et les différents intervenants;
- Établir et gérer les listes d’actions, de responsabilités et d’échéances.
- Être le principal interlocuteur du client et assurer la qualité du travail;
- Créer des documents tels que les cahiers des charges des entrepreneurs et les manuels d'utilisation;
- Travailler avec les fabricants d'équipement d'origine et les différents fournisseurs pour assurer l'intégration de leurs systèmes;
- Effectuer les relevés de chantiers;
- Effectuer la programmation des interfaces graphiques pour les utilisateurs IHM: Allen Bradley, Wonderware, Inductive automation- Ignition, Schneider, Siemens;
- Effectuer la programmation des automates : Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens;
- Utiliser les systèmes Scada: Allen Bradley, Wonderware, Intellution IFix, Inductive automation- Ignition;
- Effectuer la mise en service des systèmes automatisés;
- Vérifier les panneaux de contrôle;
- Fournir du support aux clients à l’égard des systèmes livrés;
- Supporter la production et former le personnel;
- Conception des cabinets de contrôle, réseau de contrôle, sélection des équipements automate / HMI; Validation de données, vérification de plans;
- Offrir une assistance aux chantiers de construction et mises en service.
Exigences, expériences et compétences recherchées :
- Diplôme (DEC, AEC ou BAC) en Génie; ou Techniques de l’Automatisation et Contrôle; ou Technologie de l’électronique; ou électronique industrielle, ou toute autre formation jugée équivalente;
- Minimum de 5 années ou plus d’expérience pertinente en programmation, préférablement en génie-conseil ou en gestion de projet d’usine dans l’industrie alimentaire.
- Bonne maîtrise des divers outils informatique (MS Office, programmation des automates programmables, System SCADA, logiciel d’entretien) requis; AutoCAD (atout)
- Une connaissance des codes et règlementations électrique NEC et CEC (requis);
- Passeport valide, un permis de conduire et capacité à voyager au Canada et aux États-Unis. Disponible pour des voyages d'affaires (de quelques jours à plusieurs semaines en fonction de l'état d'avancement du projet) requis.

Job Summary: Automation Project Manager
Will work as part of a team to complete food plant engineering mandates in the areas of food processing (heat exchangers, CIP, sanitary pumps, control valves), utilities support system implementation and packaging lines (conveyors, bottler, labeler, palletizer, packer, stretch wrapper, machine safety, production line productivity analysis).
May be called upon to do design, programming or more global project management, in which case he or she must supervise consultants and other professionals. In addition to fluent French, bilingualism is an asset in order to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including our customers, partners and colleagues outside Quebec.
Main responsibilities
Participate in the drafting and negotiation of service offers, and in estimating the hours required to complete the electrical part of a project;
Collaborate with other divisions;
Develop the project schedule (Gantt Chart);
Establish the project budget and monitor it;
Organize and manage meetings with the customer, suppliers and various stakeholders;

Operate Scada systems: Allen Bradley, Wonderware, Intellution IFix, Inductive automation- Ignition;
Carry out commissioning of automated systems;
Check control panels;
Provide customer support for delivered systems;
Support production and train staff;
Design control cabinets, control network, select PLC / HMI equipment; Validate data, check drawings;
Provide assistance at construction sites and commissioning.
You will be a great fit if you have:
Diploma (DEC, AEC or BAC) in Engineering; or Automation and Control Techniques; or Electronics Technology; or Industrial Electronics, or any other training deemed equivalent;
Minimum of 5 years or more of relevant programming experience, preferably in consulting engineering or plant project management in the food industry.
Good command of various computer tools (MS Office, PLC programming, SCADA system, maintenance software) required; AutoCAD (asset)
Knowledge of NEC and CEC electrical codes and regulations (required);
Valid passport, driver's license and ability to travel in Canada and the United States. Availability for business travel (from a few days to several weeks depending on project status) required.
Ability to interact directly with customers;
