Bemac Collision Group is a group of automotive repair locations across Ottawa and the surrounding areas. We are looking for an experienced Body Repair Technician to join our team. The role of an Auto Body Technician is to return a damaged vehicle to its original condition following a collision.

  • Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
  • Thoroughly examine collision damage (Review the complete vehicle exterior body parts, check all power accessories (door locks/windows/mirrors are operational) check that the dash panel has no warning lights on. Identify any prior damages overlooked on the QA checklist/ or related on the supplemental damage sheet.)
  • Performing structural and complete body repairs : Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components. (Assess, Repair or Replace interior and exterior parts, electrical components, and vehicle accessories, doors and frame and underbody components)
  • Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment, Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers.
  • Fully dismantle the complete vehicle damaged areas including the blend panel parts in order to identify all hidden damages as early in the repair cycle as possible. For example remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place, repair or replace damaged windows, windshields and sunroof
  • Ability to file, grind and sand repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools
  • Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting, apply primers and repaint surfaces.
  • Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
  • Restore vehicle to factory specification ( Return the vehicle back to factory/OEM specifications)
  • Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling
  • Technician must be able to read and understand the estimates.
  • Capable of reading and comprehending automotive repair procedures.
  • Able to work with a variety of metals and plastics, as well as glass, electrical, and mechanical parts.
  • Experience using frame and measuring equipment.
  • Experience with disassembly and reassembly of vehicles
  • Ability and willingness to follow standardized production processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Auto Body Repair and refinishing experience - 3+ years required
  • Auto Body Collision and Damage Repairer (310B) Red Seal License (310Q) (Preferred but not a must) or in a registered apprenticeship program.
  • Technicians with I-Car and OEM certifications are favorable.
  • Must have I car Welding certification

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program/Service Support

The Maintenance Officer, Property & Vehicle Services will participate in the hands on repair, maintenance and renovations as well as in the supervision of contractors in their performance of repairs, maintenance and renovations at St.Amant external properties.

Duties include:

  • Responds to and schedules assigned work orders and personally conducts onsite maintenance, repairs and renovations
  • Participates in the estimating process for repairs and renovations. Ensures approvals are obtained and documented prior to contracting services or purchasing equipment, furniture, etc.
  • Regularly updates assigned work orders in HIPPO maintenance management systems
  • Supervises on-site contractor renovations, repairs and maintenance to ensure completion, code and cope of work adherence and quality of all work
  • Ensures all properties meet building codes, fire codes, licensing regulations and the City of Winnipeg By-Laws
  • Reports on the status of work completed and work outstanding to the Supervisor, Property & Vehicle Services
  • Reports all matters of significance, unusual or sensitive events immediately to Supervisor and addresses and investigates urgent and emergency situations

Automotive Journeyman Technician (Rim Repair Specialist) 

Reports to:  Service Manager / Shop Foreman
Employment type:  Full-time

Role Summary

We’re seeking a licensed Automotive Journeyman (Red Seal or provincial equivalent)  with advanced expertise in alloy/steel wheel inspection, straightening, structural and cosmetic repair, and refinishing . You’ll diagnose wheel damage, determine repairability to OEM/industry standards, complete precision repairs (including TIG welds where approved), and return wheels to safe, roadworthy condition with a high-quality finish.

Key Responsibilities (Job Scope)
  • Inspect wheels for lateral/radial runout , cracks, porosity, flat spots and heat damage; document before/after measurements  and photos on the RO.

  • Determine repair vs. replace  in line with OEM/industry guidance and safety limits; escalate non-repairable cases and advise customers accordingly.

  • Perform wheel straightening  using hydraulic straightening equipment with controlled heat input and runout monitoring.

  • Execute TIG (GTAW) crack/gouge repairs  on aluminum wheels where permitted; machine, blend and finish to spec; replace if structural limits are exceeded.

  • Complete cosmetic repairs  (curb rash, gouges, corrosion) including filling, sanding, priming, base/clear refinishing  or powder coating .

  • Operate CNC/diamond-cut lathes  for factory-style face finishes; set up programs and verify surface finish and geometry.

  • Colour match  using spectrophotometer/colorimetry ; maintain paint/powder recipes and booth/oven logs.

  • Restore bead seats  and sealing surfaces; treat corrosion; verify leak-free seating.

  • Mount/demount tires, perform dynamic/road-force balancing TPMS  service, and torque wheels to spec.

  • Communicate technical findings and estimates to customers, service advisors, insurers, and dealer partners.

  • Maintain, calibrate, and perform basic repairs on straighteners, lathes, balancers, ovens, spray equipment, and measurement tools.

  • Adhere to OH&S/WSIB/WCB  and WHMIS  requirements (respiratory protection, ventilation, hazardous materials handling); keep SDS up to date.

Qualifications
  • Licensed Automotive Service Technician  — Red Seal  or provincial equivalent (e.g., 310S  in Ontario).

  • 3–5+ years in wheel/rim repair, refinishing, or precision machining; dealership or high-volume rim shop experience is an asset.

  • Proven skill with hydraulic wheel straighteners, dial indicators, runout gauges, IR thermometers , and CNC/diamond-cut lathes .

  • Proficient with TIG welding (aluminum) CWB  certification (GTAW/MIG) considered an asset.

  • Strong understanding of wheel metallurgy, heat control, and OEM safety limits ; knows when to refuse unsafe repairs.

  • Experience with powder coating  and automotive refinishing (HVLP) ; spectrophotometer/color -matching preferred.

  • TPMS  handling and tire service best practices.

  • Valid Class 5  driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with clean abstract.

  • Comfortable lifting up to 25 kg; able to use respirators and work in paint/powder environments.

Tools & Technology You’ll Use
  • Hydraulic wheel straightener, dial indicators/runout gauges CNC/diamond-cut lathe , road-force balancer, tire machines.

  • Media blasting cabinets, powder coating guns/ovens, HVLP spray equipment, spectrophotometer, colour scales.

Responsabilités:

  • Effectuer l »entretien et les réparations de base sur les véhicules des clients, tel que demandés (lubrifier, changer l »huile et le filtre, retirer, installer, effectuer la rotation et équilibrer les pneus, faire les réparations de base, l »entretien et les inspections qui ne nécessitent pas la présence d »un mécanicien automobile accrédité, etc.).
  • Effectuer des inspections du Registraire des véhicules importés (RVI).
  • Communiquer avec le directeur du Centre-auto, les conseillers techniques, les mécaniciens automobiles accrédités et le préposé au guichet des pièces automobiles.
  • Fournir une estimation précise et des rapports écrits des véhicules aux conseillers techniques.
