About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented BIM & CAD Technician to support our electrical engineering team in Vancouver. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and managing 3D models, drawings, and construction documentation for electrical systems, primarily using Revit and AutoCAD. This role will involve a strong focus on modelling electrical systems for commercial and institutional projects, including but not limited to power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communications systems. Working conditions are primarily in-office from 8:00am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work under the direction of the BIM Manager, Electrical Designers and Project Managers to develop construction document packages in Revit,
- 3D Modeling & Drafting: Create and modify detailed electrical models and drawings using Revit and AutoCAD for various building infrastructures such as commercial, mixed-use, residential, tenant improvements, transit and institutional building projects.
- Electrical Systems Design Support: Work closely with electrical engineers to develop Revit models and CAD drawings for power, lighting, fire alarm, and communications systems, etc.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other design professionals to ensure accurate integration of electrical systems within the building design when required.
- Documentation & Detailing: Prepare clear and accurate construction documents, including electrical plans, single-line diagrams, circuiting, panel schedules, and equipment schedules.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs and drawings comply with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements. Review work for consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
- Project Coordination: Assist with coordinating and preparing project deliverables, including submittals and revisions, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Modelling & Clash Detection: Conduct clash detection within the BIM model and address any conflicts between electrical systems and other disciplines.
- Drafting Standards & Procedures: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of drafting standards and practices within the company, ensuring consistency and efficiency in all project models and drawings.
- Other duties assigned as necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience using Revit 2018 or a later version in a professional workplace and AutoCAD
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD (minimum of two to five years of experience).
- Electrical Knowledge: Solid understanding of electrical systems design principles, terminology, and construction practices, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communications systems.
- BIM Experience: Familiarity with BIM processes and workflows, including model creation, coordination, and clash detection.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to produce high-quality, accurate, and detailed drawings and models.

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical BIM modeling, preferably in Aviation, Highways and Roads, Rail and Transit, Bridges and Tunnels, Ports and Harbours.
- Proficient in software, plugins, and cloud-based platforms including Revit MEP, ElumTools, AGi32, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, Dynamo for Revit. Experience with MicroStation and Civil 3D is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in 3D modeling and 2D Drafting of building/roads and airfields electrical systems, power and control systems, lighting and grounding systems.
- Experienced in instrumentation and Metering, Asset Tagging & Performance assessment through IOTs and sensors, and familiarity with Autodesk Tandem and Maximo.
- Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Building codes and infrastructure standards including ICAO Annex 14, IES RP-37, CEC, OESC, CAN/ULC S801, OBC, NBCC. Strong understanding of airfield construction and operations is an asset.
- Facilitating clear communication with the design team, self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset, strong time management and task prioritization skills
