Role

Ontario Transit Group (OTG) is seeking an BIM Coordinator responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes within a construction or design project, ensuring accurate and up-to-date digital information is accessible to all stakeholders by overseeing model creation, clash detection, and data management throughout the design and construction stages, ultimately facilitating smooth project collaboration and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and aggregate Design partners’ and Trade subcontractors’ BIM models, Maintaining up-to date the BIM Federated Models
  • Review 3D models elaborated by designers, subcontractors or other teams in terms of quality
  • Run visual and automated clash detection of aggregated BIM models (spatial coordination)
  • Communicate conflicts in model; both real and potential, producing 3D BIM coordination reports, Issues creation, bcf management.
  • Develop and maintain BIM object library and design scripts libraries, as per Project BIM/CAD standards

The BIM/VDC Manager, under the direction of the MEP Director, is responsible for implementing BIM processes on projects. What is the Opportunity?

Based in Toronto and reporting to the Senior Associate – Technologist Group Lead, the Regional BIM Manager will primarily be responsible for model and drawing production, resource management, and quality control. The opportunity for increased responsibilities in office and field roles also exists. You will be working collaboratively with the project team and client from initial model development to final construction document issuance.

What will you do?

The role involves primarily office work and includes the following general tasks:

  • Structural BIM modelling and project coordination. Working in conjunction with the Project Principal, Project Engineer, client, and other members of the design team you will complete projects of varying size and complexity from start to finish.
  • Serve as a client-facing lead in structural BIM modeling and project coordination.
  • Management of asset information/parameters within models and development of asset information libraries, where required by clients.
  • Maintain a high utilization of BIM staff for your region through effective delegation of tasks to intermediate and junior BIM staff.

Job Description

The Electrical BIM Modeler will be responsible for 2D drafting and 3D modeling of electrical systems, power and control and lighting. This includes building electrical systems, road and airfield lighting systems, power and control systems, MV power, AFL power and telecom connectivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate 3D BIM models using Revit, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D in collaboration with ACC workshared environment.
  • 3D Modeling of Electrical Panels, Power distribution boards, Transformers, Control systems and relay racks, Conduit routing, Cable trays and raceways, Power outlets, lighting fixtures, emergency systems, Grounding systems.
  • 2D Drafting of Schematics & Single-Line Diagrams, Cable Routing & Trench Details, Lighting Layouts, Electrical Room Layouts, Annotations & Legends per ICAO/IES Standards with descent knowledge of Sheet Composition.
  • Collaborate closely with Electrical Lead and engineers to ensure models adhere to design specifications.
  • Produce design-development to Issue-For-Construction schematics, models, drawings, details and schedules.
  • Perform interdisciplinary and interface design coordination and clash detection using Navisworks with ACC model coordination interoperability.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date models reflecting the phased construction and turnover of geometrical and non-geometrical asset data.
Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical BIM modeling, preferably in Aviation, Highways and Roads, Rail and Transit, Bridges and Tunnels, Ports and Harbours.
  • Proficient in software, plugins, and cloud-based platforms including Revit MEP, ElumTools, AGi32, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, Dynamo for Revit. Experience with MicroStation and Civil 3D is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in 3D modeling and 2D Drafting of building/roads and airfields electrical systems, power and control systems, lighting and grounding systems.
  • Experienced in instrumentation and Metering, Asset Tagging & Performance assessment through IOTs and sensors, and familiarity with Autodesk Tandem and Maximo.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Building codes and infrastructure standards including ICAO Annex 14, IES RP-37, CEC, OESC, CAN/ULC S801, OBC, NBCC. Strong understanding of airfield construction and operations is an asset.
  • Facilitating clear communication with the design team, self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset, strong time management and task prioritization skills

Job Summary:The Senior BIM Coordinator will play a key role in managing and coordinating Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes for healthcare projects. Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in BIM coordination, with a focus on healthcare architecture projects in Canada.
  • Proficiency in BIM software, such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and BIM 360.
  • Strong knowledge of BIM standards (e.g., COBie, IFC) and protocols for healthcare projects.
  • Experience with clash detection and resolution processes using BIM software.
  • Understanding of construction processes and coordination with contractors through BIM.

Job Description

The Electrification BIM Modeler will be a key member of the design team, focusing on the Greenhouse Gas systems, EV charging facility, and PV systems.  This includes 2D drafting and 3D modeling of electrification systems for EV Charging Stations, and GHG reduction systems including fleets, clean energy sources and battery systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate 3D BIM models using Revit, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D in collaboration with ACC workshared environment.
  • 3D Modeling of charging stations, bollards, cable routing, power cabinets, transformers, rooftop and ground-mounted PV systems including solar arrays, inverters, cable trays, conduits, connection points, racking, electrical components and cable trays.
  • 2D Drafting of Schematics & Single-Line Diagrams, conduit routing, power cabinets, and trench layouts, Annotations & Legends per specifications and standards with descent knowledge of Sheet Composition.
  • Collaborate with the Environmental, Sustainability and Electrification Lead and engineers to ensure models adhere to design specifications.
  • Produce design-development, Issued-for-Permit and Issue-For-Construction schematics, models, drawings, details and schedules.
  • Perform interdisciplinary and interface design coordination and clash detection using Navisworks with ACC model coordination interoperability.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date models reflecting the phased construction and turnover of geometrical and non-geometrical asset data.

  • Experienced in integrating site survey/topographic data and generating exportable sheets for permits and construction.
  • Familiar with accessibility and clearance requirements for charger placement.
  • Familiar with shading analysis and energy yield simulations using industry-standard tools.
  • Familiarity with Canadian codes and standards including ICAO Annex 14, IES RP-37, CSA C22.1 (CE Code), CSA C61215 (PV Modules), ISO 14067, OESC, CEC, local AHJ and utility interconnection guidelines, OBC, NBCC.
  • Detail-oriented and compliance-focused; strong understanding of solar design constraints and local regulations; collaborative in multi-disciplinary teams; proactive in optimizing layout and performance with energy modeling insights
