Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This position has oversight of a specific area and acts as a representative of the department ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as an Architectural Area Lead or Lead on assigned projects or performs complex architectural assignments, evaluates, selects and applies advanced architectural techniques to a broad set of complex assignments.
Job responsibilities:
- Apply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work
- Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
- Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
- Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of moderate or complex engineering problems. Should be able to demonstrate basic understanding of structural behavior and design principles.
- Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
- Indicate strong technical interests and background with structural engineering subjects such as design of large structural steel and concrete structures including heavy foundations, seismic engineering, and dynamic analysis of structures supporting vibrating equipment.
- Capable to undertake structural engineering work related to resource project development and construction, in one or more of the following areas:
- Performing hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures
- Analyzing complex structures ,
- Wind and seismic loading in structural calculations (structural)
- Dynamic analysis and design (structural)
- Computer modeling and analysis (structural)
- Procurement and construction aspects of engineering
- Vendor drawing review, intergroup review – squad checking
- Engineering and fabricator drawing checking
- Managing and leading a small project
Basic Job Requirements
- Accredited two (2) year diploma or global equivalent in applicable field of study and sixteen (16) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty (20) years if no diploma; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
- Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials, means and methods of construction
- Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
- EPCM Experience in Medium to Large-Scale Projects
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Planning and project execution skills
- Ability/experience of preparing Architectural design criteria and specifications.
- Ability/experience of preparing scope of work to support building request for quote (RFQ) purchase order (PO).
- Ability/experience of technical bid evaluation (TBE) of building bids
- Ability/experience of managing building PO’s

Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $111,000.00 - $215,000.00

The primary role of the Construction Manager is to work with office and site personnel in scheduling, budgets, quality, stakeholder satisfaction and design. The Construction Manager works closely with the client and consultant team and maintains excellent relationships with trades, suppliers, consultants and clients.

- Budget
- Prepare detailed project budget and meet or exceed target margins.
- Schedule: Prepare detailed construction schedules.
- Manage and report on project schedule on a weekly basis.
- Meet or exceed the project milestones and project schedule.
- Quality: Manage scope of project, working with design consultant and client's expectations for final finished product.
Leadership:
Responsible for the motivation, coaching and facilitation of communication with the entire project team, including consultants, finance, superintendents, trades and suppliers, and client in order to achieve budget, scope quality and schedule of budget.
- Understand and manage client expectation and business issues.
- Project Administration:
- Manage the bid process and be accountable for same.
- Ensure all contracts are issued in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Review and update project cost control reports on a monthly basis.
- Attend weekly meetings to ensure client satisfaction and review any on-site issues/concerns that need to be addressed.
Safety:
Ensure all WorkSafe BC practices are being followed at all times and report infractions to ensure safety of employees, trades and the community.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to work with constantly changing priorities and to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Further, the candidate will ideally possess the following:
- At least five years' experience in a construction management role.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Expertise with MS Office, including MS Excel and MS Projects.
- Experience with SAGE 300CRE and SiteMax is an asset.
- Estimating experience.
- Knowledge of Provincial building codes, BC Housing Residential Construction Guidelines, building envelope.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
