Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of food production facilities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor food safety programs and protocols.

**We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Food Safety to join our team remotely, driving critical food safety initiatives across our food-grade facilities.**
**Summary:**
Reporting to the VP Operations & C&I, this key position is responsible for leading new, critical corporate food safety initiatives, with broad responsibilities across the Food Grade facilities involving, product quality, food safety, US and Canadian regulatory, third-party certifications, customer facing technical sales support, and advocacy.
**How will you contribute to the team?**
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following
+ Lead the strategic design, development, and governance of company-wide food safety and quality programs across all food-grade sites.
+ Establish organizational framework to ensure compliance within U.S. (FDA, USDA) and Canadian (CFIA, Health Canada) regulatory bodies and any applicable global standards.
+ Oversee food safety certifications (e.g. SQF, HACCP, GFSI) including audit preparation, corrective actions, and renewals across all facilities.
+ Direct the standardization and integration of food safety procedures, documentation systems, and performance metrics across all sites.
+ Develop company-wide training strategies and guide operational leadership teams to build capacity in food safety and quality standards and practices.
+ Serve as the Sr. Level subject matter expert and corporate spokesperson on food safety and quality matters for key internal and external stakeholders.
+ Stay current on food safety regulations, trends, and technologies to ensure continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
+ Provide Sr. Level oversight of certification audits across all sites and direct teams to implement key quality initiatives.
+ Lead the development of a company-wide Food Safety Management System and Best-Practice implementation in partnership with production sites.
+ Direct company-wide Root Cause Analysis and Corrective and Preventive Action strategies in response to customer complaints and major food safety deviations.
+ Oversee company-wide document control processes and ensure the integration of corporate procedures.
+ Collaborate with Product Management on Product Data Sheet process.
+ Lead, design, and refine corporate audit program including internal and third-party audits and report outcomes appropriately to key organizational stakeholders.
+ Perform other related duties as required.
**What should you bring to the role?**
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance or related field.
+ 10 years of experience in food safety, quality and regulatory roles within food-grade manufacturing or processing environments.
+ In-depth knowledge of Canadian and US food safety regulations, industry standards, and third-party certifications (e.g. GFSI, HACCP, SQF, BRC).
+ Strong leadership and communication skills with experience managing cross-functional and multi-site teams
+ Proven track record of leading successful audits and driving food safety improvements.
+ Ability to travel to multiple sites across Canadian and the USA, as needed.
+ Primarily remote-based, with regular travel to production facilities (estimated 25%-40%).
+ Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving.
+ Superior organizational and communication skills.
**Preferred Qualifications:**

We are seeking a Food Safety Analyst to join our team on a full time permanent basis! You will be responsible for ensuring that our HACCP plan and food safety standards are current and being followed by the plant staff and supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that HACCP plan is updated and maintained and being followed on the food production floor
- Do walk throughs of the food plant to ensure that GMP are being followed
- Maintain record keeping as required for HACCP and BRC
- Assist in achieving BRC certification
- Adhere to and improve our food safety protocols.
- Respond to queries/complaints from consumers, customers, CFIA
- Prepare for and oversee the GMP and BRC audit process
- Interact with regulatory bodies such as CFIA, OMAFRA and third party auditors
- Responsible to ensure that proper housekeeping SSOPs of entire plant, along with associated record keeping, as required by HACCP, GMP, BRC is being followed by plant staff and area supervisors.
- Ensure that food production logs and records are properly maintained.
- Ensure that documented workflow processes are being followed.
- Ensure that proper QA policies are being followed.
- Continuously work to improve food safety policies
Qualifications:
- Strong command of English, both oral and written
- Strong documentation skills to document work flow, processes and update SOPs and SSOPs
- Experience working in a food safety or Quality Assurance role in a Food production environment.
- Experience in a dairy would be a great asset.
- Knowledge of HACCP principals
- MS Excel, Word.
- Some command of spoken Punjabi and/or Hindi would be an asset

What do our Food Safety & Compliance Specialists do?
Our Food Safety & Compliance Specialists help our hotel, restaurant, and grocery clients ensure brand standards, food quality and friendly service for their customers. They also:
● Conduct assessments that measure conformity to established regulatory,
industry, and proprietary brand standards for clients
● Observe food prep and cooking standards to ensure food safety, health,
and sanitation practices
● Partner with clients to address root causes of assessment discrepancies
and develop corrective action plans
● Teach and coach clients how to make their workplace a safer and healthier
environment for themselves and THEIR customers
● Travel up to 50%, or 10 days per month, including some evening and
weekend work
Requirements
What do you need?
● Meet the requirements to obtain a CP-FS certification
● Highly flexible Sunday to Saturday work schedule that lets you work
around personal commitments
● Desire to travel via car and/or plane up to 50% of time
● Ability to lift 10 lbs chest high, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and
reaching
● Have excellent listening and communication skills
● Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
● Excellent organization and time management skills
● Ability and desire to influence others with tact and skill
● Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback in a positive manner
● Thrives in an autonomous working environment
● Ability to organize and prioritize work based on urgency, efficiency and
other factors
● Safe driving record and a commitment to working safely
● Strong technical knowledge of food safety is preferred
● ServSafe and/or CP-FS Certification(s) a plus
● Must pass pre-employment background screen
● Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass motor vehicle record search
Budgeted Salary: $40,000-$46,000 Annually

Duties include:
- Conduct assessments that measure conformity to established regulatory, industry, and proprietary brand standards for clients
- Observe food prep and cooking standards to ensure food safety, health, and sanitation practices

- TRAVEL UP TO 50% OF THE TIME BY CAR AND/OR PLANE, EQUIVALENT TO 10 OVERNIGHT STAYS PER MONTH
Requirements
Qualifications
- Valid FULL driver’s licence and ability to pass a MVR check
- 1 to 5 years of food service, restaurant or grocery operations and customer service experience
- Strong technical knowledge of food safety is preferred
- ServSafe and/or CP-FS Certification(s) a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Hospitality Management or Science is preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- DESIRE TO TRAVEL VIA CAR AND/OR PLANE UP TO 50% OF THE TIME
