The CATEGORY DEVELOPMENT MANAGER will be primarily responsible for analyzing data and developing critical insights and solutions for our retailer partners and internal sales & marketing teams.
This individual should be comfortable using CPG industry tools to pull and evaluate data and preparing and presenting recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Provides expert level category knowledge on performance, innovation, market insights, trends and shopper and consumer insights
- Creates on-going reporting (weekly / monthly / quarterly) to track and interpret performance while drawing insights that lead to actionable category development recommendations
- Works closely and builds trusted partnership with sales team and other internal stakeholders to provide objective recommendations
- Provides support to CPG accounts across both the Canadian and US markets
- Identifies assortment opportunities, shelf allocations and adjacency recommendations of planograms
- Provide postmortems and tracking of programs, including seasonal programs that lead to future recommendations
- Analyzes promotional activity to evaluate success to provide recommendations for future features
- Acts as an internal expert with CPG data tools including IRI, Nielsen, Numerator and other customer specific tools.
- Respects the confidentiality of customer data (internally and externally)
Required Experience
- Demonstrated ability in sales analytics, category management to formulate recommendations
- Minimum 5 years CPG experience
- A high-level expert in all Microsoft Office Suite tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong proficiency to pull data with CPG tools (eg. IRI, Nielsen, Numerator, LDIA, Dunnhumby etc.)
- Proven expertise in building user-friendly tools and reports that help bring data to life
- Ability to distill vast amounts of data into critical business insights
- Superb communication skills
- Previous experience in presenting complex analytics to a senior level audience
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

In-year Activities and Execution
- Primary business partner with Brand Marketing and Sales teams, influencing and shaping segment and brand strategy by channel for the category
- Responsible for monitoring portfolio in-market performance and target delivery, identifying gaps and working cross-functionally to recommend gap close solutions
- Proactively identifies and assesses customer/channel specific category and portfolio opportunities and develops a recommended action plan
- Adjusts Promotional frequency & depth strategies throughout the year to reflect market dynamics
- Adjusts Product strategies inclusive of innovation and distribution opportunities in the market
- Assesses innovation performance through post evaluations, working cross-functionally to address gaps
- Develops NPP category activation plans by segment and/or brand to address business opportunities and challenges
Commercial Planning Process
- Collaborates with Marketing and Sales through the Commercial Planning Process
- Leverages market trends and shopper drivers to identify insights which shape strategic business plans
- Provides recommendations on optimal launch plans by channel with a 4P focus
- Responsible for commercializing annual business plans by developing segment and brand product assortment and promotional strategies by channel aligned to shopper drivers

About the Role:
TreeHouse Foods has an outstanding opportunity for a Director, Customer and Category Manager. The Director will lead strategic customer management, drive revenue and profit growth, and develop new business opportunities.
This role oversees a portfolio of customers, ensuring strong relationships and performance against key metrics.
