L’opportunité

Grass Valley est à la recherche d'un(e) gestionnaire de catégories pour son équipe de la chaîne d'approvisionnement basée à Montréal. La gestionnaire de catégories ou le gestionnaire de catégories de Grass Valley est responsable de l'approvisionnement et de la création de catégories spécifiques pour nos dépenses directes et indirectes. Le titulaire du poste gérera les relations avec les fournisseurs, négociera les conditions et optimisera les coûts pour l'ensemble des dépenses du portefeuille de métaux / mécanique de Grass Valley.

Votre rôle

Responsabilités générales :

  • Concevoir une stratégie globale de gestion des catégories pour le portefeuille de dépenses attribué, basée sur une analyse de marché approfondie et une collaboration avec les intervenants internes au nom de l'ensemble de l'organisation ;
  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les équipes fonctionnelles afin de soutenir des stratégies de chaîne d'approvisionnement qui influent sur les décisions et les capacités de conception technique ;
  • Gérer les relations avec les fournisseurs, notamment la rentabilité, les capacités, les coûts et la qualité ;
  • Être responsable du choix des fournisseurs et diriger les analyses commerciales trimestrielles (QBR) avec les fournisseurs stratégiques ;
  • Élaborer des stratégies de matériel venant soutenir les étapes essentielles, notamment lors des achats à risque ainsi que pour l'assurance de stocks régulateurs ;

  • Gérer les relations avec les fournisseurs, notamment la rentabilité, les capacités, le coût et la qualité ;

Votre personnalité et vos compétences

Exigences
  • Baccalauréat en gestion des achats, en production et exploitation, en ingénierie ou une expérience professionnelle équivalente ;
  • Maîtrise dans le domaine est un atout ;
  • Plus de trois à cinq ans d'expérience pertinente en ingénierie, opérations, chaîne d'approvisionnement ou NPI ;
  • Connaissance et expérience avec les techniques d'amélioration de la qualité LEAN/Six Sigma ;
  • Expérience en négociations contractuelles et leur mise en œuvre auprès des fournisseurs, notamment le suivi de la rentabilité des fournisseurs sur une base hebdomadaire et mensuelle par rapport aux objectifs de l'entreprise ;
  • Expérience avec le développement de contre-mesures permettant de revenir aux objectifs fixés ;
  • Expérience en lancement de produits à faible volume et à volume élevé ;

The Opportunity

Grass Valley is looking for a Category Manager to join our Supply Chain team based in Montreal. The Category Manager is responsible for sourcing and the development of specific categories for both our direct and indirect spend. The incumbent will manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and optimize cost for the total spend for Grass Valley’s global Metal / Mechanical portfolio.

Your Role

General Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a global category management strategy for their assigned spend portfolio based upon in-depth market analysis and collaboration with internal stakeholders on behalf of the whole organization;
  • Work closely with functional teams to drive supply chain strategies that influence technical design decisions and capabilities;
  • Manage supplier relationships including performance, capabilities, cost and quality;
  • Responsible for supplier selection and lead QBRs (Quarterly Business Reviews) with strategic suppliers;
  • Develop materials strategies for supporting critical milestones, including risk buys, safety/buffer stock;
  • Responsible for quarterly cost activities including cost downs, PPV reconciliation;
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the year (domestic and international).
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with global engineering teams to drive supply chain strategies that influence technical design decisions and capabilities;
  • Manage supplier relationships including performance, capabilities, cost and quality;
  • Lead cross functional commodity teams and develop technology commodity roadmaps aligning business requirements with supplier capabilities.

Who you are

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Production/Operations Management, or Engineering or equivalent business experience;
  • Master’s degree an asset;
  • Three to five + years of relevant experience in engineering, operations, supply chain, or NPI;
  • Experience with LEAN/Six Sigma quality improvement techniques;
  • Demonstrated success of completed contract negotiations and implementation with vendors along with tracking vendor performance a weekly / monthly basis to company objectives;
  • Experience with developing counter measures to ensure objectives are back on track;
  • Experience launching high low volume products ;
  • Experience with developing materials strategies for supporting critical milestones, including risk buys, safety/buffer stock;
  • Fluency in French and English, both oral and written.
    • Knowledge of English appropriate to the duties is required, as the incumbent is expected to work with team members in different countries (United States, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Japan, etc.).

Responsabilités

  • Gérez le portefeuille de produits existant pour votre catégorie, trouvez des sources alternatives pour les produits/fournisseurs si nécessaire
  • Planifier et mettre en œuvre des stratégies de développement de nouveaux produits tout en adhérant à l'objectif et aux directives d'approvisionnement de l'entreprise (direct de la ferme, local, spécialisé, durable, etc.)
  • Gérer et suivre le budget hebdomadaire et mensuel

  • Concevez la bonne stratégie d'achat avec le soutien de l'équipe de planification tout en opérant dans un modèle JIT pour atteindre les objectifs de stocks et de déchets.
  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec l'équipe culinaire pour influencer l'utilisation des SKU pour diverses raisons telles que la réduction des stocks, la saisonnalité ou les contrats.

The Category Manager role is a unique opportunity to continue optimizing one of the categories within the company, having a direct impact not only on the bottom line of the company, but also in our members’ experiences. Responsibilities

  • Manage the existing product portfolio for your category, find alternate sources for products / vendors as necessary
  • Plan and implement development strategies for new products while adhering to the purpose and sourcing guidelines of the company (direct-from-farm, local, specialty, sustainable, etc)
  • Manage and track weekly and monthly budget
  • Ensure product availability, minimizing stock-outs and overstock, and meeting service levels to operations
  • Drive cost reductions within your category through negotiations, RFQs, and/or contracts, pulling levers around vendor/volume consolidation, product seasonality, nationwide procurement (while maintaining high quality standards)
  • Stay in tune with member feedback and make recommendations for remediating or sunsetting underperforming products
  • Design the right buying strategy with the support of the planning team while operating in a JIT model to achieve inventory and waste goals.
  • Work closely with the culinary team to influence the use of SKUs for various reasons such as inventory reduction, seasonality, or contracts
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors, to ensure they fit with our purpose (vendor mission, sustainable practices, etc) and adhere to supply agreements (fill rates, quality, MOQs, lead times, delivery frequency, days payable, other T&Cs)
  • Work with vendors and operations to achieve quality goals
  • Search for insights into consumer needs and wants

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years experience, ideally as a buyer, material planner, category manager or similar role
  • Bachelor's degree Supply Chain or related field.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with can-do, problem-solving attitude
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proven experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
  • Willing to get your hands dirty - be just as comfortable negotiating a contract as you are as placing your own purchase orders or checking your products in the warehouse

Job Description

The Category Manager manages and coordinates a portfolio of indirect suppliers in the development and implementation of strategic sourcing activities across the business. Coordinate strategic sourcing for assigned indirect categories by gathering data, identifying suppliers, preparing quotes, qualifying suppliers, and analyzing gaps for supplier selection decisions. This role is responsible for developing indirect category sourcing strategies and managing supplier relationships and performance as well as leading cost reduction for assigned categories 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to capably perform each of the following essential functions:  

  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers in designated categories to maximize the delivery of value to the business 
  • Ensure effective purchasing practices and supplier documentation are in place for sourcing relationships in relevant categories 
  • Ensure supplier training for relevant processes and procedures; develop and implement communication plans to key stakeholders 
  • Establish and manage indirect sourcing goals and metrics for cost reduction, supplier performance, and sourcing decisions based on internal and external factors; lead supplier negotiations where advised 
  • Supervise supplier and product performance, identify performance gaps, and outline improvements to ensure business objectives and investment returns are met 
  • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future supply availability and price trends, recommending efficient procurement channels where appropriate 
  • Participate in and, where relevant, lead activities dedicated to continuous cost reduction and value improvement throughout the supply chain 
  • Drive compliance to company policies and procedures 
  • Support the preparation of annual sourcing plans linked to annual profit plans 
  • Perform other duties as the need arises, or assigned by management, to meet business needs 
Qualifications

Essential Knowledge & Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of applicable education and relevant work experience 
  • Demonstrated expertise with ERP systems and procurement tools including RFQ’s, contracting, scorecards, and reports 
  • Demonstrable experience in a procurement or purchasing function supporting a manufacturing organization 
  • Prior success with business partnering, resulting in highly effective business relationships 
  • Demonstrable experience developing and delivering category management plans with global suppliers 
  • Proven track record handling commercial and contractual negotiations 
  • Demonstrable experience managing material and critical supplier relationships 
  • Commercial acumen with proven business awareness 

Preferred Knowledge & Qualifications: 

  • Proven knowledge of the scientific and technical markets that LGC operates in 
  • Experience in working within a complex laboratory environment is preferred but not essential 
  • Relevant qualification (e.g., APICS/CIPS) or equivalent professional experience
