This is an opportunity to join the culinary team at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Aramark provides catering services to faculty members as well as to external partners and guests for conferences, banquets, weddings, etc. The Catering Manager will be responsible for relationships with key stakeholders at Dalhousie University managing high end catering and conference events as well as developing new strategies to highlight catering business on and off campus.
Job Responsibilities? Oversee catering functions and special events for internal and external clients and groups

- Experience in leadership role, either individual contributor or people manager an asset.
- Valid Smart Serve, WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene.
- Skilled in task prioritization and time management.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Post-secondary education required; in a related field, Hospitality and/or Event Planning is a strong asset
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in planning and executing medium to large scale events
- The ability to work well independently on several projects concurrently
- Excellent communication, organizational and creative thinking skills
- Software proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, is required; knowledge and experience in the event management booking software is preferred.
- Strong initiative and hospitality orientation; Project Management, organizational and prioritizing skills; problem solving and detail oriented.
- Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism, coupled with sound judgment, discretion and ability to maintain confidential information
