Job Responsibilities:

Mission of the Position:

The Expert, Business Process Optimization position will work with key stakeholders to conduct in-depth analysis of existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization. The position will recommend, support and/or lead the design, development, and implementation of strategies to streamline processes and improve efficiency and will use data and metrics to measure the effectiveness of process improvements. This role may act as a work stream lead on key strategic projects and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct operational and statistical studies to identify current states and potential areas for process simplification, standardization, and optimization.
  • Lead in planning and execution for business process optimization projects. These may include but are not limited to domains such as Quoting, EHS management, Expense management, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), front office digitalization, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, logistics planning, Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), Engineering Change management, procure to pay process, and other similar projects.
  • Interview key stakeholders and develop detailed end-to-end process maps, identifying roles and resources required.
  • Utilize data to recommend and implement optimization strategies for business processes, enhancing productivity and reducing inefficiencies.
  • Expertly use software tools such as MS Office, MS Teams, BPMN2 Software, Visio or other visualization software, Power BI, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator to expedite these tasks.
  • Collaborate with various teams to facilitate the implementation of optimized processes, designing and implementing operational models to improve efficiency.
  • Monitor process effectiveness to ensure consistency, refining processes as required, and developing measurable metrics to evaluate improvements.
  • Prepare and present reports to management outlining findings and actionable recommendations based on data-driven insights.
  • Train staff on new processes, standards, and changes, ensure compliance through auditing.
  • Use visual, statistical methods or empirically founded decision-making tactics to conceptualize and execute experiments and demonstrate potential enhancement benefits.
  • Follow Magna's Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience as a Lean Practitioner, Process Analyst, Business Analyst, Project/Program Manager, or a similar role.
  • Expertise in process mapping, data gathering and analysis, and business process optimization techniques.
  • Experience with methods such as Kaizen, Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma is an asset.
  • Experience in data mining, business intelligence tools (e.g. MS Power BI, Grafana, etc.) and cloud data frameworks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in machine learning and operations research, along with strong mathematical abilities encompassing statistics and algebra.
  • Knowledge of programming languages including R, node.js, SQL, and Python. Familiarity with other programming languages is an asset
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies like Waterfall and Agile is an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and driven, with the ability to identify high-value opportunities, gain information, develop understanding, and engage in the implementation.
  • Proficiency in using software tools like MS Office, MS Teams, BPMN2 Software, Visio or other visualization software, Power BI, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator.

Further Information: Work Environment

Office environment: 10-20% Travel required to Magna production locations.

About the role:

Requirements

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategy roles, including time in a top-tier consulting firm and/or leadership within investment management, financial services, or technology operations.
  • Experience in process management, business analysis, operations, or continuous improvement roles.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing complex business processes.
  • Experience with process mapping and modeling tools.
  • Experience in agile development or product lifecycle.

**PRIORITY:** Leverage strong communication and project management capabilities to lead the optimization of activities throughout the commercialization lifecycle for both new and existing products. # **POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:**

- Develop and optimize continuous production and manufacturing processes to achieve the output, quality, and cost goals of the organization.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and 5S principles to improve plant productivity and process efficiency.
- Actively develop and manage cost-reduction projects.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction strategies and process enhancements.
- Lead and manage capital investment projects related to processing equipment and plant optimization.

- Evaluate new product trials/market samples through sampling and sensory appraisal.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, CFIA, OHS, and internal quality standards.
- Collaborate with Health & Safety and Quality staff to ensure site manufacturing processes are safely designed, audited, and operated in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Conduct process improvement training across relevant departments.

# **REQUIRED SKILL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:**

- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Science, Engineering, Culinary, or related field.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in Process and Product Development role in the food industry; meat industry experience preferred.
- Project Management experience with the ability to utilize Gantt charts and Stage Gate processes.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, standards, and systems.
- Experience implementing continuous improvement and best practice initiatives.

Mandate

  • Deliver a safe and highly optimized gas processing facility design.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, review and execution of process engineering deliverables throughout the facility across all engineering stages, including Feasibility and Process Studies, Conceptual Design, DBM Development, FEED and Detailed Engineering Design.
  • Provide expert-level guidance on sour gas separation and processing, acid gas compression, acid gas injection and co-injection, and gas sweetening units.
  • Support the design, review, and execution of the gas processing infrastructure Develop and validate process simulations and modeling for gas processing facilities.
  • Author and review, critical design documents, including material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, shutdown keys, control narratives and Process Engineering reports in support of gas processing infrastructure as well as other area of the facility as required.
  • Verify line sizing, PSV sizing, and the preparation of equipment process data sheets.
  • Oversee and participate in P&ID / PHA (HAZOP) reviews and ensure compliance with safety and operational requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards (API, ASME, ISO).
  • Collaborate with other technical disciplines, vendors, and stakeholders to progress deliverables and address complex engineering challenges.
  • Offer technical support during facility commissioning, start-up, and operational troubleshooting and optimization.

The Process Engineer plays a key role in developing solutions in all areas of the process plant across various systems, unit operations and process equipment. It is expected that the Process Engineer will work within the process engineering department within the company by completing designs and analysis across a wide range of commodities and participating in commissioning. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work within the process and mechanical engineering development for Halyards various client projects.
  • Perform process engineering tasks on metallurgical aspects of projects, in a variety of commodities.

JOB SUMMARY:

In this dynamic, fast-paced environment, the Process Engineer is responsible for working with Design Engineers, Lab Technicians, Product Development and Manufacturing teams to provide leadership and technical expertise optimizing manufacturing processes while ensuring process safety, quality, and efficiency. This role is central to maintaining stable production operations, supporting plant floor activities, and continuously improving systems to reduce risk and enhance productivity. Reporting to the Director, Product Development , this role supports the product development team and the production team in a cross functional approach to manage multiple projects across different product lines and markets.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, evaluate, and refine manufacturing processes to improve throughput, efficiency, and product quality. Implement and maintain standard work documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with process safety requirements, including risk assessments, hazard identification, and safe operating procedures. Participate in or lead PHA (Process Hazard Analysis), MOC (Management of Change), and safety audits.
  • Drive lean manufacturing and Six Sigma projects focused on process improvements, cost reduction, waste elimination, and quality enhancements.
  • Train operators and technicians on new processes, safety procedures, and best practices. Serve as a hands-on resource for day-to-day process troubleshooting and improvements.
  • Maintain and improve visual control systems (e.g., visual work instructions, KPIs, safety alerts) to ensure clarity and standardization across the production floor.
  • Coordinate the implementation of new product introductions (NPI) and pilot runs. Collaborate with R&D and design engineering teams to transition new designs to production.
  • Support internal quality tracking, defect analysis, and corrective actions to maintain high product standards.
  • Manage Engineering Change Notice (ECN) updates and ensure seamless integration into existing processes.
  • Collaborate with materials, packaging, and project management teams to support operational readiness and efficiency.
  • Provide floor-level technical and supervisory support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
