We are looking for a reliable, compassionate "Male" caregiver to provide companionship and community outings for a client living in Orillia .
About the Role
- Hours: Part-time, typically 46 hours daily (some mornings & evenings), flexible weekly schedule.
- Activities:
- Taking the client for coffee, to the park, library, local concerts, dinners, and community events.
- Offering friendly conversation, helping reduce isolation, and keeping them engaged.
- Other tasks:
- Ensuring any portable equipment needed for outings is managed and charged.
- Keeping clear records and communication.
- Someone who is caring, patient, and enjoys building relationships.
- Clear English communication skills .
- Valid drivers license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to drive the client (mileage reimbursed).
- Ability to maintain consistent scheduling and communicate well with our team.

Essential Functions:

This individual is mobile and enjoys routine, social interaction, and engaging activities, but requires some daily support with personal care and life skills.

As a new Personal Care Aide (PCA) joining our Village, you will:

You will work as a key member of our Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ individual needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care.
Personal Care Aides (PCA) at Schlegel Villages foster exemplary relationships with residents, their families and the Village team to deliver holistic care focusing on flexible living and quality of life.
Personal Care Aides (PCA) assist our residents with all activities of daily living. A PCA supports residents with personal hygiene care, such as assisting them to the washroom, bathing, getting dressed, assistance with meals and general hygiene. Our PCAs also provide companionship and activities for our retirement residents. Our PCAs know our residents and are quickly able to identify and report any changes in the resident’s well-being to the Registered Practical Nurse.
To be successful as our new Personal Care Aide (PCA), you will:
- Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
- Have an understanding of the physical, mental, and emotional demands of supporting senior care
Assets, but not required, as Schlegel Villages provides training to the successful candidate:
- Hold a valid PSW Certificate that is 600 hours or greater and meets the vocational standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities, the standards established by the National Association of Career Colleges, or the standards established by the Ontario Community Support Association
- Experience working as a PSW, PCA or equivalent based on international education and have the ability to acquire the above mentioned if requested to do so. Additional document may be requested during the initial screening process.
