We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Construction Projects Manager to oversee and coordinate construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inventory management, project management, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will be responsible for ensuring all projects are completed on time, within scope and budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all phases of construction projects from pre-construction through completion.

The Pipelayer is a vital position for MacKay Contracting Ltd. they are the lead hands on pipe installer working with our utilities installation crew. This role works closely with the Civil Foreman/Superintendent to plan work and coordinate the requirements of specified projects to ensure all necessary resources (people, materials, and equipment) are in place each day.


Location & Hours:

This role will be located out of our Cranbrook, B.C. headquarters office, however, your time will be spent on the Project sites (in and out of town) that MacKay is currently operating. Hours will vary on a Project-to-Project basis and overtime will be required on an as-needed basis to ensure projects are on schedule.


Responsibilities & Duties:


  • Perform work in accordance with all organizational, as well as provincial and federal health and safety standards and legislation, ensuring highest standard of safety is upheld

  • Perform daily site assessments, including identification of potential work site hazards

  • Ensure appropriate tools are transported to the worksite. Ensure proper functioning of all tools prior to utilization

  • Install and use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, and transit levels. Check slopes for conformance to requirements

  • Prepare area for pipe installation, performing all necessary excavation preparation including slope and elevation determination

  • Perform the installation of pipe with the utmost standards in quality while keeping up with production targets

  • Make certain all trenches are dug according to construction drawings including adherence to all specified excavation levels and depths

  • Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices

  • Perform required excavations to create trenches utilizing equipment or when necessary through manual digging

  • Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines or through the use of hand tools

  • Place manholes and catch basins

  • Provide manual labor assistance as required

  • Maintain organizational services, facilities, and equipment

  • Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement, using magnetic or radio indicators

  • Testing including infiltration, exfiltration, pressure and bacteriological testing

  • Maintaining accurate site records including as-built information, photos, changes

  • Care of Equipment (including light vehicles)

Position Overview

Working an average of 50 hours per week, either remotely or from our headquarters in Sturgeon Falls, you will be reporting to the Project Manager. Job Description

Our client, a leading civil contractor in the Lower Mainland, delivers complex infrastructure projects including earthworks, roadbuilding, excavation & shoring, and underground utilities. They are seeking a Project Manager to lead project delivery, manage multidisciplinary teams, and ensure safe, profitable execution from pre-construction through closeout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead civil projects from planning through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget goals are met.
  • Manage forecasting, cost control, and monthly project reviews.
  • Provide technical input during pre-construction and act as a resource during execution.
  • Coordinate project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders; chair meetings as required.
  • Administer contracts and lead procurement activities with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Oversee project schedules, permits, change orders, and risk management.
  • Prepare progress billings, support receivables, and manage project resources.
  • Champion health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Lead project closeout and post-project reviews for continuous improvement.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Project Manager experience in civil construction (earthworks, roadworks, excavation & shoring, underground utilities).
  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil, or Structural Engineering preferred; professional registration an asset.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; able to build credibility with both staff and clients.
  • Proven ability to manage contracts, schedules, budgets, and project risk.
  • Proficiency with HCSS/HeavyBid (or similar), Bluebeam, Agtek, Spectrum, MS Project, and Microsoft Office.
