Quality Control/Construction Survey Technician

REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion or current enrolment in 2-year Technical Program in Surveying or Civil Engineering and/or a minimum of 3 years direct industry experience as a Construction Surveyor.
- Valid Class 5 drivers license.
- Thorough Experience & Understanding of Total Station & GPS Survey Equipment.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD based software for calculations and data transfer between design files and field survey equipment, and processing of quantity survey and project record survey information.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while attending to multiple projects and construction sites concurrently.
- Effective communication skills, punctuality, and dedication to working in a team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and diligence in checking ones own work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report directly to the Construction Manager and Project Superintendent(s) in the consistent delivery of accurate and complete construction survey layout and data collection activities daily.
- Complete layout calculations, data processing, and transmission between office & field software and data set formats.
- Complete critical analysis and pre-job quality checks of design information.
- Establish and maintain master geomatic system control on multiple ongoing construction projects throughout the Peace Region of British Columbia.
- Work to fulfill Project Management requests for information from active construction sites, and to collect other data upon request to support estimating and design efforts.
- Prepare monthly progress reports of work completed to date to support Project Management progress payment applications.
- Collect and compile survey data for the creation of 3D surface files, complete volume calculations, site cut/fill reports, work-in-progress, and site grading design support.
- Set up and manage GPS machine control for various active construction sites.
- Always adhere to Knappett Industries Occupational Health & Safety Program.
COMPENSATION:
This position is compensated at an hourly rate, with anticipated range 30 - 40 per hour + overtime as needed. Compensation rate will be determined by the successful applicants proven level of training and experience. Employees are eligible for enrolment in our company benefits program following successful completion of a three-month probationary period, which includes:
