The Estimator’s primary responsibility and accountability is to provide an exceptional and successful customer experience while creating estimates, coordinating repair needs for customers including all communication, informing and updating customers and insurance companies throughout the repair process. The Estimator accurately assesses the damage of vehicles and documents needed repairs and parts replacement on the damage appraisal. Key Job Responsibilities

Role and Requirements

  • Ensure ASE is updated efficiently and accurately with pertinent details from every customer interaction  

  • Provide Customer with accurate and timely information, guiding them through the repair process and ensuring that they receive excellent customer service 

  • Ensure compliance with all insurance client requirements, processes and metrics 

  • Ensure compliance with all Wow Operating Way’s regarding customer drop-offs, repair planning, customer communication, and delivery

Job Profile

There is an opening for a Construction Inspector within the Community Development Department, Engineering and Transportation Services Division. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Field Services this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

What you will be doing

Inspect and enforce contract specifications on Capital and Development projects

Interpret and ensure contractor compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Environmental Protection Act, Safe Drinking Water Act (and applicable Regulations) and the Ontario Highway Traffic Act

Document all work performed in electronic reports, including materials used, payment items, health and safety issues and customer issues and complaints

Perform various testing of drinking water for compliance to Regulations

Issue variation orders

Direct Geotechnical Consultant activities

Collaborate with Project Engineer or Supervisor of for any issues that require follow-up

Provide project updates and manage bi-weekly site meetings

Review and approve Geotechnical consultant deliverable and billing for projects

Conduct final inspections of projects including evaluation of contractor performance

Education
  • 3-year degree or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
  • OACETT Registration with C.E.T. Certification
  • OACETT Municipal Infrastructure Inspector (m.i.i.) designation is considered an asset.
  • MECP Class I Water Distribution Operator Certification
  • OGRA – Sewer and Watermain Construction Inspection Certificate
Experience and Knowledge

Over 3 years of previous related experience in the following:

  • Recognizing and enforcing municipal infrastructure contract specifications, plan proposals, Ontario Provincial (OPS) and local (DGSSMS) standards, Occupational Health and Safety Requirements
  • Experience in quality control and installation methods including analysis of asphalt, concrete, and soils
  • Experience in the disinfection procedure for new watermains, including hydrostatic pressure testing, chlorination and de-chlorination and bacteriological testing
  • Experience in the use of CAD software for creating as-built drawings and standard details
  • Experience in the use of digital platforms for managing site workflows including mobile data collection
  • Knowledge of survey practices for collecting site data and experience with survey-related tools and equipment.

Your compensation

The current regular hours of work are in accordance with the Inside Worker's Collective Agreement, (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday.
