*Job Responsibilities:*

* Responsibility over medical care delivery to LTC residents
* Management of stable complex chronic co-morbidities in collaboration with MDs
* Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team in the course of care delivery
* Provide high quality customer service
* Provide clinical / medical education to clients and staff
* Participate in care conferencing
* Role is about 70% clinical and 30% quality improvement, education, and leadership

Position Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist (sonographer) is a specially trained healthcare professional that works under general supervision and performs diagnostic imaging examinations utilizing sonography techniques specialized for imaging of the body. The Ultrasound Technologist uses their knowledge and skills to perform ultrasound examinations utilizing a technology that creates detailed and dynamic images of the body’s internal organs using high frequency sound waves. The Ultrasound Technologist ensures the care provided is safe, appropriate, tailored, timely, and maximizes the potential of the available equipment and resources.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

Current Certification from the College of Medical Radiation Technologists
Current Sonography Canada registration or eligible for registration within three months, new graduates will be considered
Graduate of a Canadian recognized Ultrasound program
Small Parts, General, Abdominal and Obstetrical experience
Accurate and thorough practical and theoretical Ultrasound skills
Knowledge and experience in multiple modalities an asset
Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to GGH’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education and e-learning in this area as required
Previous Hospital experience an asset
Intermediate computer skills with experience using Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint
Demonstrated commitment to best practice, standards of practice, and life-long learning
Demonstrated skills in teaching/training
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
Demonstrated skill in multitasking and time management and evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
Experience in or willingness to be trained in Musculoskeletal, interventional and vascular an asset.
