**A Day in the Life:**

The Continuous Improvement Specialist will help drive our organization to achieve substantial cost and efficiency improvements year over year. This position will report to the North American Continuous Improvement Manager. As a CI Specialist, you will be responsible for strategically supporting change management activities at our Hamilton facility and suppor the use of Lean Sigma, kaizens, and other continuous improvement tools within the business and industrial operation environments to eliminate non-value added activities, while improving operational excellence. You will assist in the identification and proliferation of manufacturing best practices across Bunge, as well as be responsible for the support of an operational excellence culture throughout all plant operations and in alignment with the Bunge Production System (BPS) improvement effort.

**What You’ll Be Doing:**

- Champion Safety & Lean manufacturing practices.
- Geographically lead BPS support efforts for homesite and potential sister site(s).
- Support and assist with cross-functional critical business projects utilizing Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement techniques in order to identify and eliminate waste throughout the business.
- Support and assist with various improvement projects; it is important that the projects are followed-up on and when required DMAIC principles applied, while the ownership of the project will be transferred to site Plant Manager and/or BPS Pillar Leaders upon completion.
- Work with Regional CI Leaders to ensure project savings are identified, tracked, and captured for accurate reporting, including BPS progress updates.
- Training and Coaching of local staff and BPS Pillar Leaders within assigned sites.
- Work with the Regional CI Leader to train and build the BPS skillset of the local resources, so that sites are able to implement, sustain, and continue using BPS principles independently.
- Support business functions and plants in mapping their work processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead site transformational change initiatives, in collaboration with Regional CI Leaders, to identifying greatest Lean and BPS opportunities across the company.
- Coordinate with Regional CI Leaders and sites to identify and share BPS best practices and external trends.
- Assist site Pillar Leaders with closing identified BPS gaps.
- Lead discussions and drive the site integrated master plan for BPS success (horizon action planning).
- Actively promote BPS “Pull Methodology” to site Pillar Leaders for regional support engagement.
- Teach and coach others in scientific problem-solving and the importance of standardized work (SWI).
- Educate, communicate, and excite the organization on Lean and BPS principles.
- Embrace and demonstrate Servant Leadership concepts.

**Skills/Experience Requirements:**

- Bachelor’s degree required
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience required, with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing experience preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification Preferred
- Experience with assisting in the design and implementation of continuous improvement projects and initiatives
- Must have an understanding of loss prevention and the 8 Types of Waste
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization

Position Purpose: The Continuous Improvement Leader leads and drives the development and integration of all continuous improvement methodologies across the Truro facility.


Principle Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with the operation leadership team to identify and prioritize high impact initiatives that will provide a bottom-line improvement
  • Facilitate execution of continuous improvement projects, supporting project sponsors or process owners in their successful completion
  • Drive alignment and effectiveness of continuous improvement activities with the corporate strategies, plans and objectives through close coordination of actively working with other Site CI Leaders and Corporate IPS Team.
  • Identify and lead high impact initiatives, incorporating the principles of continuous improvement, a value stream approach, and the voice of the customer as appropriate to the specific objectives of the initiative. Provide for effective communication and change management processes across the operations as needed with respect to the initiative.
  • Responsible for driving Gross Margin Improvement (GMI) projects across the plant
  • Capital project business cases, proposals, leadership, completion and savings deliverables.
  • Develop, train, and mentor others in the use of Lean tools, approaches, and techniques to create a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Train/Coach/Mentor employees at all levels of the organization on the tools and methods that support a continuous improvement culture

Position Scope

The Quality & Continuous Improvement Lead will work with teams across all functions to optimize workflows, improve consistency and enhance output. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, utilizing quality management tools and continuous improvement methodologies, as well as strong stakeholder engagement skills, to implement best practices and streamline processes.

This position is a full-time, 40hrs/week position.  This position is eligible for the 9/80 work schedule to offer a flexible work schedule. 

This role is based in Squamish, BC.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing development of a basic quality management system, focused on improving efficiency, consistency, and effectiveness across the Operations team.
  • Champion the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle to ensure continuous evaluation and improvement of key business processes.
    • Develop and administer a schedule of internal ‘layered audits’ within the Operations team.
    • Support and facilitate teams reviewing performance against established processes and KPIs.
    • Identify root causes of non-compliance, develop pathways to resolution, ensure timely implementation, and monitor to confirm effectiveness.
    • Support the review and update of processes/procedures where appropriate.
    • Maintain action trackers and follow up with action owners to ensure timely completion.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S, etc.) and other process improvement tools to identify opportunities for process optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including production, maintenance, engineering) to identify and prioritize performance gaps, and define strategies to address them.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of improvement initiatives, using data to measure results and drive decision-making.
  • Develop and lead training initiatives to improve team knowledge on quality management practices, process improvement methodologies and statistical process control.
  • Mentor staff in the application of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Create and maintain documentation and process workflows to ensure consistency and adherence to quality standards. The eventual outcome of this process will be a formalized Quality Management System.
  • Facilitate regular review meetings with leadership to report progress of ongoing improvement projects and propose new initiatives.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by engaging employees at all levels, fostering a proactive approach to problem-solving, and encouraging transparent feedback and innovation.

Education and Experience
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in degree in engineering, quality management or a related field. 
  • Black Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent, is highly desirable. 
  • ASQ CMQ/OE or equivalent certification is an asset. 
Experience:
  • 10+ years’ experience applying quality and continuous improvement principles in an industrial manufacturing, chemical plant or technology development environment.
  • Clear understanding of quality management tools and the PDCA cycle.
  • Experience conducting QA audits and implementing and verifying corrective actions.
  • Experience applying a range of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders to execute improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of statistics
  • Experience with Minitab

Compensation and Benefits

Carbon Engineering offers a competitive compensation package including:

  • Base salary for a senior role is $96,930 to $145,000
  • Up to 30% target for annual bonus

What You’ll Do:

Continuous Improvement Strategy & Process Optimization

  • Developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the transportation/logistics function, reduce costs, and improve efficiency
  • Supports Article’s transportation strategy via developing plans and implementation requirements for Class 8/A trucking
  • Acting as the owner of key logistics software (future TMS, Routing software) and driving ongoing improvements 
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and streamline transportation operations
  • Coordinating with external vendors and carriers to improve transportation performance and reduce costs

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Analyzing data and identifying areas for improvement in the transportation process, including route optimization, carrier performance, and transportation costs
    • Identify cost efficiency opportunities for Logistics operations and support annual planning cycle in relation to transportation with finance business partners
  • Owning key productivity projects that support Article’s strategic direction with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Supporting accurate reporting of leading and lagging metrics that gauge current status, inform on long-term progress, and allow for industry comparisons

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Working collaboratively and transparently with senior business leadership, legal and policy teams to ensure alignment between core business priorities and transportation compliance priorities

Team Development & Training

  • In partnership with operations Develop skill matrices and training plan that supports the ongoing development of our logistics planning teams
  • Put in place appropriate documentation that supports the standardization in logistics functions
  • Mentor and coach in the application of lean/CI methodologies

Who You Are:

As the Continuous Improvement Lead - Logistics, you will have built your careers across the varying processes of End-to-End transportation in North America (Ports, Drayage, Distribution, Home Delivery) and bring with you a holistic approach. 

  • You have 5+ years experience in Transportation Management (including Supply Chain, Logistics, Transport or Manufacturing), preferably in a continuous improvement role
  • Proven experience with all modes of transportation
  • Good knowledge of transport and logistics systems (TMS, Routing systems)
  • Completing advanced training in transportation safety is a plus
  • A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally (US & Canada), once per quarter
