Location: Lloydminster, SK

Contract length: 9 months with potential for extension

Pay:

T4 $35.26-43.02/hr

- IC $43.00-52.46/hr

Rotations to start would include a mix of 5 days on 5 days off, 4 days on 5 days off and 5 days on and 4 days off. Working up to a rotating Night Schedule also. If T4, an averaging agreement would need to be put in place for 160 ST hours per month with 8 OT hours for a total Monthly rotation of 168 hours.


HGMP Control room operators use a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA) and a Leak detection system to control and monitor Alberta and Saskatchewan Gathering system and 2 terminal facilities. The operation is a 24 hour/365-day operation that requires the operator to work 12 shift schedule days and nights once fully trained.

Rotations to start would include a mix of 5 days on 5 days off, 4 days on 5 days off and 5 days on and 4 days off. Working up to a rotating Night Schedule also.

If called for an Interview, COBRA testing would need to be completed in person in CPL in advance of Interview being scheduled.


Deliverables


• The ability to remotely control and operate pipeline facilities including terminals and Lease Automatic Custody Transfer (LACT) stations utilizing SCADA and Leak Detection systems.

• Follow the Superintendents Expectations for Control Room Operations.

• Working collaboratively with the midstream team, Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and SCADA Technicians.

• Strong Communication skills, Clear speech, good hearing, and a professional telephone manner

• Calm and reassuring under pressure.

• Deal with confidential and sensitive information.

• Polite, friendly, efficient, and helpful attitude.

Competencies


• Representing HGMP when working collaboratively with 3rd parties.

• Access and review daily production data and respond accordingly to complete volume metric balancing Terminal, and Hardisty Terminal.

• Comply with all safe work practices and procedures, regulatory and environmental requirements following the Control Room Management Plan and Cenovus Management systems

• Comply with Husky’s High Reliability Organization standards and expectations

• The role involves the safe operation of pipelines ensuring the public, Health, Safety, and environment

• Decision making is based on the control room operators using processes and procedures, experiences, and with support from upper management.

• Problem solving is based on the control room operators using Abnormal and emergency procedures, experiences, SCADA technician support, and with support from upper management

• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and independently prioritize tasks.

• Ability to demonstrate Pass/Fail on the simulator using real issues and following process to safely respond to those issues in a timely manner.


Qualifications


• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrated self-motivation and inclination to accept increased operational responsibilities

• Excellent computer skills including experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and SAP

• Candidate must possess at least one of the following certifications:

o Gas Process Operator (GPO) certificate

o Production Field Operator (PFO) certificate

o Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certificate

o Journeyman tradesperson

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

• Completion of Engineering technology diploma would be an asset

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or Robotics & Automation
  • 3-5 years of practical experience in the controls and automation industry

  • Coaching skills to provide feedback and direction

The Co-op Student will be responsible for contributing to technical projects and tasks as assigned by the Systems Integration Manager. During the work term, they will be expected to learn, take initiative, and contribute to ongoing business activities. When possible, Co-op Students are assigned to ongoing projects and will work under the direction of a Team Lead. They may receive mentorship and support from other members of the RidgeTech team, working independently or as part of a team throughout their work term.


Job Summary

  • Participate in the design and programming of projects such as:

  • Participate in the testing, commissioning and debugging of automation systems (remotely or physically) at client sites as required
  • Ensure project documentation is accurate, complete, current and stored appropriately
  • Remain current with, and be able to find, applicable standards, codes and rules relevant to the work being done
  • Support and take an active role in learning other aspects of RidgeTech Automation's core business
  • Utilize non-chargeable time in an efficient and productive manner
  • Other duties as assigned to support other Team Members and RTA business operations

Skills and Qualifications

  • Current enrolment in a post-secondary degree/diploma co-op program in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, Robotics & Automation, or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitudes and the desire to learn in the automation industry, specifically with regards to electrical drawing review, standard coding practices for PLC/HMI/Robotic systems, motion control and other devices typically found in industrial control systems
  • Positive attitude and ability to communicate well with both clients and team members.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work on tasks with individual steps broken down
  • Highly motivated team player with a continued openness to learn new troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
  • Time management skills and ability to manage and own tasks with the support of a team environment
  • Desire to learn, complete training, and provide value when executing non-chargeable work
  • Flexibility and willingness to work with a multitude of vendors' hardware and software
