**Responsibilities**

**Financial Oversight & Analysis**

* Oversee full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, AR, AP, and cash flow.
* Provide timely financial analysis and insight to inform strategic decision-making.
* Conduct financial analysis, including cash flow forecasting, budget variances, and capital expenditure reviews.

* Maintain secure and efficient accounting systems (QuickBooks, Fathom, etc.).
* Manage banking, insurance, vendor payments, and statutory filings (WCB, GST, PST, EHT etc.).
* Manage financial and operational dashboards and company KPIs.
* Oversee benefits administration and annual reviews.

**Qualifications**

* CPA designation (preferred).
* Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, or a related field.
* 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction or project-based industries.
* Hands-on experience with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Office.
* Proven ability to translate complex financial data into practical insights.

Role Summary
As the Controller, you will be responsible for all areas relating to financial and management reporting and provide leadership to the company’s Finance Team. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining internal practices and procedures to ensure delivery of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with ASPE. Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership and support to the Accounting Manager, overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, including general accounting, A/P, A/R, sales tax reporting and remittance, period close, GL reconciliation and variance analysis for the Eminence group of companies
  • Support the Director of Finance with daily cash flow management and banking transactions
  • Manage the development and preparation of timely and accurate financial statements (including commentary) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, as well as development and ongoing improvement of management reporting for the group of companies
  • Responsible for preparing all supporting documentation for the year-end reporting and liaising with the external accounting firm to file annual corporate tax returns (Canada and US)
  • Work closely with the Accounting and Operational Teams to review processes, implement best practices, improve productivity and ensure an appropriate system of internal controls is in place
  • Partner with Supply Chain to deliver optimal management and reporting of the Company’s inventory, including but not limited to inventory counts, valuations, product costing and transfer pricing policy
  • Partner with Sales and Business Development to ensure sales procedures, controls, and revenue reporting comply with regulatory standards
  • Manage statutory audits and be responsible for compliance with all regulatory and governmental agencies, including sales taxes in both Canada and the US
  • Support the Director of Finance in the annual budgeting process and forecast preparation
  • Manage the coordination, compilation, and consolidation of Divisional budgets with key organizational stakeholders
  • Review and finalize the monthly variance analysis between actual versus budget for the consolidated group of companies
  • Support the Director of Finance in managing all leases, contracts, and other financial commitments
  • Manage and enhance accounting information, working paper data storage and electronic filing structure
  • Manage the finance and accounting policies and procedures to ensure the efficiency of processes and standardized reporting
  • Research and advise on appropriate technology that aligns to the company’s systems, controls, and reporting requirements (e.g. assist with ERP selection and implementation)


Qualifications
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required
  • 3+ years of management experience in a Controller role, leading a team of direct reports
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Excel and Power Query
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to inventory and costing is a strong asset
  • Experience in an e-commerce environment (Salesforce) with high transaction volume is an asset
  • Experience with system implementations (ERP, Accounts Payable automation, Business Intelligence) is a strong asset
  • Experience with US sales tax certificate exemption rules is an asset; working knowledge of Sage 300 is an asset

Baker Tilly is conducting a search on behalf of one of our clients, who is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead financial reporting and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of public and private companies. This is a senior-level opportunity for a CPA with deep IFRS knowledge and a passion for leadership in a dynamic, client-focused environment.


Who We Are

Located in downtown Vancouver, this client is a trusted provider of financial reporting, accounting, and corporate advisory services. The firm is known for delivering tailored solutions with integrity, precision, and professionalism.


Key Responsibilities

As Controller, you will play a leadership role in managing client relationships, overseeing financial reporting, and guiding internal teams. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring accounting staff
  • Managing client engagements and financial workflows
  • Overseeing preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with IFRS and public company reporting standards
  • Liaising with boards of directors, auditors, and senior executives
  • Supporting CFOs, CEOs, and senior management at Malaspina
  • Contributing to strategic planning and process improvements
  • Handling ad-hoc financial and administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications & Skills

Were looking for a confident and capable leader with:

  • CPA designation (or international equivalent) with at least 3 years post-designation experience and 7+ years total in accounting/finance or a CPA firm
  • Extensive experience with public companies and IFRS reporting
  • Proven ability to draft and audit financial statements and notes
  • Experience managing teams and reporting to senior leadership
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • High IT proficiency and comfort in digital environments
  • Experience in or exposure to the mining/exploration industry is a strong asset
  • Canadian permanent residency or citizenship is required
