THE POSITION
Helcim is searching for a talented and passionate Manager of Credit Risk to join us on our mission to become the worlds most loved payments company.


As our Manager of Credit Risk, you will lead a team to manage the risk of onboarding new merchants and monitoring our established merchant base to help businesses access our platform for affordable payments. You will use your knowledge to develop and optimize credit strategies, frameworks, and work with cross-functional teams to manage our credit risk at scale while preserving a quality, human focused experience that encourages our customers to grow with us.



A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • Develops the framework and strategies that incorporate our AI products to evaluate and manage merchants boarding and processing on our platform that balances business growth against their risk.
  • Owns the performance of the credit risk domain driving continuous improvement in our practices.
  • Leads and develops a high performing team of Credit Risk Analysts fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Adjudicates on complex applications where escalated support is needed.
  • Monitors the performance of our portfolio to proactively identify new risks.
  • Defines and executes initiatives in close collaboration with key internal partners across data, product, and software development for improving and iterating how we manage credit risk.
  • Helps develop long term plans and a strategy for mitigation of financial risk across our full suite of current and future products.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with organizational, business, strategic, operational, legal, reputation and market risks where applicable.


KEY COMPETENCIES

  • 5+ years of experience in credit risk management, underwriting, analytics experience acquired in the financial industry, or a related area will be considered.
  • Experienced professional with a proven track record of leading teams that balance operational excellence and business delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where youve had to build processes from scratch and iterate on them based on new findings.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher education in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge of credit analysis frameworks, commercial credit underwriting, financial risk modeling, orcash flow forecasting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey credit insights and strategies.
  • Experience using SQL or other data processing languages is an asset.
  • Experience in payments, ecommerce, or the fintech space is an asset.

The US Deal team is a function in Finance responsible for providing financial analysis and deal pricing expertise to compete for client brand decisions. The team is responsible for providing deal support for Visa’s largest book of business globally. This includes end-to-end deal execution in collaboration with various stakeholders and cross functional teams.
