We are seeking a **Cybersecurity Student** for our **North American Headquarters** district in **Edmonton, Alberta**, that is available for **8-12 months** starting in **September 2025**.
As a **Cybersecurity Student** and depending on your assigned project, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:
- Investigates and remediates cybersecurity events, incidents, and threats
- Security Incident Escalations
- Assists with the development and maintenance of information security policies, procedures, and standards.
- Assists with vendor risk assessments on technology projects, initiatives, and infrastructure by working closely with stakeholders.
- Assists with vulnerability management processes, collaborating with stakeholders on remediation plans to resolve identified risks.
- Identifies and documents existing security controls.
- Supports Information security compliance deliverables.
- Participates in the security incident response processes.
- Assists with disaster recovery and business continuity planning and processes.
- Acts as point of contact for internal inquiries regarding information security.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of cyber security metrics and Key Performance Indicators to demonstrate the progress and value proposition of cyber security.

- Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or working towards post-secondary education in in Business, Computer Science, Information technology, Cybersecurity, or related degree.
- Possess critical thinking and analytical ability.

- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to learn and succeed in a fast-paced, technical environment with changing priorities.
- Exposure to SOC2, NIST cybersecurity frameworks, GDPR, CCPA, CMMC.

- Support the development and enforcement of security policies, standards, and procedures
- Assist in delivering security awareness and training programs across the organization

- Implement and monitor Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) to protect cloud resources

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT security, with a focus on compliance management
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, SOC 2, SOX)
- Proven experience in managing security audits and assessments
- Expertise in risk management, vulnerability scanning tools, and incident response
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or similar are preferred
- Experience with cloud security and multi-cloud environments
- Ability to manage complex compliance projects

- Status: Overtime Exempt

Niagara University's Vaughan campus invites applications for adjunct instructors with the expertise needed to teach the following courses in the Information Security and Digital Forensics program, starting in the Fall 2024 semester:
CSO 500 Principles of Information Security and Federal Law
Presents students with the opportunity to explore and discuss information security, to learn about current information security threats and how to protect information. Students will gain experience in the use of network protection mechanisms such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools. Three (3) Credit Hours.
CSO 550 Software Security
Introduces students to research in foundations of software security. Basic static and dynamic enforcement of security policies to enhance software security will be investigated. Language-based security and tools for specifying security policies for different programming languages will also be discussed. Three (3) Credit Hours.
Job Requirements
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a related area, as well as five years of related work and/or teaching experience. A PhD or related terminal degree will be an asset.

Responsibilities
- Identify potential threats and vulnerabilities within ISAAC's IT infrastructure through continuous monitoring
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to detect weaknesses and deploy patches.
- Stay updated on the latest security threats and trends
- Quickly contain and mitigate the impact of detected breaches or threats
- Analyze the causes of incidents and restore affected systems while preventing future events
- Document and report incidents comprehensively
