Successful candidate will be responsible for liaising between Product and Technology regarding data governance implementation for a respective Data Domain, activities to include identifying lineage, critical data elements, authoritative data sources, data quality rules, and investigating any data-related issues. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to continuous iterative exploration and investigation of attribute-level data lineage, critical data element decomposition, application performance and other measures to gain insight and drive data governance planning and data remediation.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Develop creative technical solutions to meet business needs and manage complex, high-volume data governance implementation efforts in partnership with Product and Technology partners and stakeholders
+ Manage complex application and critical data element-level lineage across geographies and products for Citi Services.
+ Contribute to formulation of strategies/processes to implement Citi Data Governance Data Policies
+ Responsible for data quality validation and remediation from root cause analysis through remediation planning and providing input to Product and Technology based on analysis of information
+ Provide advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business and filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex material from multiple sources.
**Qualifications:**
+ 5-8 years of technical experience to include intermediate/advanced SQL skills; Python, Java, COBOL, Visual Studio, Ab Initio, Data Lineage capture tools (i.e.: IBM Manta, Ab Initio mHub), or other development languages helpful.
+ Demonstrated expertise in presenting and using planning tools.
+ Proven diplomatic and analytical skills.
+ Proven ability to manage complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact by weighing various action plans and balancing potentially conflicting needs.
+ Experience in systems analysis helpful.
+ Desired Experience with Agile Software Development Lifecycle methodology and related tooling. For example -JIRA, Scrum, Kanban, Confluence.
+ Experience with specific data governance tools: like Collibra or data catalogs.
+ Knowledge of data warehousing and cloud technologies for managing and processing large data sets.

Skills and Requirements
7+ years experience in data governance and data management, including experience developing and implementing data governance programs
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, information architecture, related tools, and best practices
Experience in data management (DG), business glossary (metadata) and data quality (assessment methodologies and data profiling)
Experience working in both a technical and business context; able to translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand business language.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance standards

Job Title: Data Governance Associate

What you’ll do:  

Reporting to the Data Enablement Manager, the Data Governance Analyst will serve as a liaison between data governance teams and data stewards across departments to ensure consistent application of data governance policies and practices.

Data Stewardship Liaison, Policy, and Compliance Support:  

  • Act as a key Liaison and serve as a central point of contact for all governance-related communications.
  • Ensure that policies, initiatives, and best practices are clearly communicated to business units, and other stakeholders and provide input for the development and communication of guidelines to help Data Owners/Stewards effectively manage their domains in alignment with company-wide governance goals.
  • Support data stewards in creating and maintaining data dictionaries, glossaries, and metadata management in CTC’s Data Governance tools including our Enterprise Data Catalog (IBM IKC) and ensure data sources are cataloged and are well-maintained with clear definitions and standards in place.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of data quality frameworks, ensuring data meets the required standards for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness and assist data stewards in managing and ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and security of data within their domains.
  • Develop and maintain documentation on data stewardship processes, governance standards, and policies and ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, documented, and aligned with governance objectives.
  • Regularly update the Accountability Framework for Data to reflect organizational changes in management structure, business processes, or governance policies.
  • Collaborate with business units and IT teams to identify and assign Data Owners/Stewards for new assets, ensuring accountability across the lifecycle.
  • Assist with audits and reporting related to data governance and stewardship compliance.

Data Literacy and Training:  

  • Support the develop and help to coordinate and deliver training programs to ensure employees understand the importance of governance and how to apply it in their day-to-day work.
  • Support the creation of training materials, user guides, and documentation to aid users in understanding governance tools, policies, and best practices.
  • Promote data literacy across the organization by providing resources that help employees understand data governance principles.

Communication  

  • Support the ongoing maintenance of the Data Governance Website that serves as a central hub for all governance-related information.
  • Create and organize content including policies, procedures, templates, training materials, and FAQs.
  • Track usage of the portal to identify opportunities for improving user experience and content quality.

What you bring:  

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related fields, with a focus on data quality, policy implementation, and compliance
  • Experience with data governance tools, metadata management systems, and data stewardship practices is a plus
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role managing teams of data stewards or data governance professionals
  • Proven experience with data quality frameworks, data governance principles, and metadata management

**Title and Summary**
Director, Data Governance, Data Stewardship
Overview:
Mastercard is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Data Stewardship to join our Data Governance Team. In this role, you will be responsible for promoting and ensuring data stewardship, ensuring data quality, driving consistent use of data, and understanding of our policy and standards across the organization.
You will partner closely with data owners, business units, and technology teams to define data standards, steward critical data assets, and enable data-driven decision-making.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data governance principles, data management best practices, and a passion for enhancing data stewardship initiatives.
This role will report to the Vice President, Data Governance.
Role:
- Continue to develop and refine our data stewardship strategy aligned to domains ensuring it aligns with Mastercard's data governance framework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and enforce data standards, policies, and procedures.
- Lead team meetings with data stewards, providing guidance and support in their day-to-day functions while promoting a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure stewardship effectiveness.
- Conduct regular assessments of data management practices, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on data governance and stewardship initiatives to leadership and stakeholders.
- Facilitate/participate in training and awareness programs to foster a strong data stewardship culture across the organization.
- Serve as a data-driven change agent and advocate, persuading and influencing the organization at the grassroots level on the importance of governance.
All about You:
- Proven track record of leadership in data governance, data management, or a related discipline, with demonstrated success driving enterprise-wide data initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of data quality management, metadata, master data management (MDM), and data cataloging.
- Experience with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, etc.).
- Strong grasp of data management methodologies and compliance requirements related to data privacy and protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Proven ability to lead enterprise data initiatives and cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge and understanding of "driving organization change" for data governance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; capable of understanding complex data ecosystems and translating technical constructs into actionable business strategies.
- Strategic thinker, able to operate at both a high-level vision and detailed implementation level to deliver measurable outcomes under tight timelines.
- Exceptional communicator, skilled at tailoring messages for executive, technical, and operational audiences.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative mindset and the ability to foster a data-driven culture across the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.

Successful candidate will be responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of data domains and data lineage by understanding and documenting application design in a concise, logical and understandable way in coordination with the Technology application teams. The role would focus on data governance implementation for a respective product and data domain, which includes registering critical data elements, authoritative data sources, data quality rules, and investigating any data quality issues The overall objective of this role is to contribute to continuous iterative exploration and investigation of attribute-level data lineage, critical data element decomposition, application performance and other measures to gain insight and drive data governance planning and data remediation. This role will support the Issuer Services business. Knowledge and experience in that domain is desired
**Responsibilities:**
+ Formulate and define systems scope and objectives for data domain implementation and foster communication between data domain leaders and technology
+ Register critical data elements, authoritative data sources, and data lineage in coordination with the data domain and technology application teams
+ Support data quality validation and data issue remediation from root cause analysis through remediation planning and provide input to business and Technology based on analysis of information
+ Consult with users and clients to solve complex system issues/problems through in-depth evaluation of business processes, systems and industry standards and recommends solutions
**Qualifications:**
+ 5 plus years of experience in data analysis with intermediate/advanced Microsoft Office Suite and SQL skills
+ Proven interpersonal, data analysis, diplomatic, management and prioritization skills
+ Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
+ Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and approach work methodically with attention to detail
+ Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
+ Experience in systems analysis and programming helpful. Preferred languages include: Python, Java, Visual Studio, Ab Initio, Data Lineage capture tools (i.e.: IBM Manta, Ab Initio mHub), or other development languages
**Education:**
+ Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

This role is a Data Steward supporting the Issuer Services business. Role consists of executing Data Steward activities such as Data Quality monitoring, root cause analysis, cataloguing of critical data elements (CDEs) and building and maintaining Data Lineage.
