As our new Development Designer, you will:

• Manage projects. You will collaborate with clients to clarify project scope and gather crucial details beyond the initial design documents. You will manage multiple development projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets while maintaining exceptional quality.
  

• Bring concepts to life. You will transform client visions into 3D digital models that accurately represent required materials and finishes, highlighting key features and functionalities. You will develop comprehensive Design Intent packages, including various views, annotations, dimensions, and high-level manufacturing process overviews.

• Optimize. You will engage in iterative design processes, incorporating feedback and enhancements to meet client expectations and achieve final production approval. You will provide ongoing support during engineering and production phases, reviewing and redlining drawings as needed.

• Collaborate. You will partner with manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth transition from design intent to production, including the handover of 3D file assemblies, electrical schematics, and a preliminary Bill of Materials (BOM).

You have:

• The experience. You have a degree or diploma in Industrial Design, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, combined with professional experience in development design. You have an in-depth understanding of design-for-manufacturing principles. Ideally, you have worked in retail or fixture design.

• The technical knowledge. You are highly proficient in 3D modelling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, SketchUp, Autocad, etc) and you can read and interpret technical drawings. You have an in-depth understanding of processes for various materials (e.g., wood, metal, plastics) and packaging structures and materials.You are detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and manufacturability.

We are currently seeking an experienced and team-oriented Design Engineer to join the Land Development team. The Design Engineer is responsible for the design and preparation of drawings and technical reports using strong technical skills, experience, innovation and engineering judgement to transform projects from concept design into drawings and detailed specifications.

Responsibilities
·Review and evaluate background project information using engineering skills and critical thinking process.
·Perform engineering design and analysis (storm and sanitary design, water distribution system design, storm water management facility modeling and design, road design, grading design, subdivision design, site design etc.) and convey design information to CAD staff for preparation of engineering drawings.
·Technical report preparation.
·Complete design calculations based on engineering principles, meeting applicable regulatory codes and standards.
·Communicate with project managers, clients and consultants to ensure design will work within the overall scope of the project.
·Participate in project team meetings and coordinate with team members to ensure efficient project delivery.
·Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications
·Degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering (Masters degree will be considered an asset).
·5-10+ years’ experience (preferably in a consulting firm).
·Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.).
·Knowledge of engineering principals, applicable government technical standards and legislative regulations.
·Excellent attention to detail and sound independent judgment and decision-making skills.
·Excellent technical report writing skills, verbal and written communication skills with colleagues and clients, and a “team player” approach to design and problem solving is required.

Design Engineer

The successful candidate will act as main support for engineering and design teams, supporting them on projects from the design of new products, technical support with Solidworks, Computer-Aided Design, 3D Printing, and R&D.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Designer will include:

• Drafting detailed drawings for fabrication, assembly and erection/installation ;
• Perform all necessary drawing conversions such as pdf files, tiff, jpeg and dwg/dxf files;

• Coordinate and liaised between production, manufacturing and purchasing personnel with all necessary documents and inquiries;

Skills and Knowledge:

• Must demonstrate advanced knowledge, education, experience and/or training in SolidWorks;
• Design and develop products from concepts through the prototyping and testing phases and into production;
• Mechanical aptitude in common manufacturing techniques including injection and compression molding, forging, die casting, extrusion, finishing, etc.
• A portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in product design, versatility with rapid prototyping tools and methods, and a strong understanding of design and creative process is required;
• Understanding of general machining, CNC practices, and manufacturing;
• Strong analytical, design and troubleshooting ability, with a focus on proactively and independently solving problems;
• Injection-molding experience would be a strong asset;
• Must work well under pressure with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
