What you will do:

Qualifications:

- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility in Ontario is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in design management, preferably in heavy civil, transportation, or transit infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience with design-build (DB), P3, or EPC delivery models.

* Assist with the management of the development of our design proposals for P3 and other design-build projects

As a Design Manager, you will join the Major Projects team to lead and oversee the design process for electrical & IMIT construction projects from concept through completion. You will build some of the most meaningful and needed multi-year Hospital projects in British Columbia. These projects range from $30 - $00 million with a typical duration of 3 to 7 years. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong electrical and or technology technical background, exceptional communication & leadership skills, and a passion for delivering innovative, cost-effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Location
This role is site and office based. Project sites are located across the Lower Mainland, BC, and Western Canada. Compensation will reflect factors such as work location and any applicable shift schedules.
Your responsibilities
- Lead the design process for electrical/ technology construction projects, ensuring technical accuracy and constructability
- Apply deep knowledge of electrical and or technology engineering principles to review, validate, and optimize system designs
- Ensure design coordinates with project planning, budgeting and scheduling
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., CEC, NEC)
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members
- Act as the technical liaison with the design team, ensuring alignment on design intent and project goals
- Develop and manage the electrical/technology design process ensuring alignment with project requirements, timelines, and budgets
- Participate in the design and/or construction meetings with the owner, general contractor, sub trades, and vendors
- Collaborate with internal SMEs - engineering teams, consultants, and subcontractors to develop detailed electrical/technology drawings and specifications
- Understand and communicate the electrical/technology design requirements to relevant design and construction teams
Your experience and skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- 5 years of experience in a design leadership role, for multi-million-dollar, multi-year design build construction projects
- Demonstrated experience in design management, including leading cross-functional teams through the design development process involving internal subject matter experts (SMEs), external consultants, suppliers, estimators, and the broader project design team
- Strong knowledge in electrical/ technology systems design and construction for buildings
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of codes, standards, and construction practices
- Understanding of the modeling process, an asset
- Proficient in MS Office and BIM viewing software platforms. Some degree of proficiency in Procore, Revit AutoCAD, Accubid or scheduling software is beneficial
