**Job Description**
AECOM Buildings + Place, is seeking a motivated and skilled **Structural Design Specialist** to help lead buildings projects (commercial, institutional, light industrial facilities, such as Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants and Sewage Lift Stations) This position can be based out of **Edmonton/Calgary** office with opportunities for hybrid work. Some travel to nearby cities may be required. This role offers opportunities for career growth.

**Major Responsibilities:**
* Serves as a developing professional within specific domains of the field who continues to develop areas of expertise
* Applies limited knowledge of standard practices, techniques, and procedures for variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
* Employee may be responsible for aspects of a project or have significant technical role, but is not yet a lead; final authority usually rests with a more senior staff member or supervisor.
* Assists in the development of alternate solutions and design options in support of project team, e.g. white paper research, code review.
* Provides analysis and develops reports, opinions, and recommendations to address design challenges and opportunities with mentoring from senior level architects or designers.
* Communicates and collaborates with full design team and others.
* Develops, coordinates the development of work products such as specifications, drawings, and illustrative graphics based on input from client.
* Develops technical approach and criteria for a design element and analyzes complex issues.
* Coordinates work product for compliance with standards. Identify risk or problems and recommends solution.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Structural Engineering.
+ BA/BS + two (2) years of relevant experience or education
+ 2+ years of experience in structural engineering, design and analysis.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience in structural design of commercial buildings, industrial plants, government facilities, municipal infrastructures, and transit stations.
+ Proficiency in 3D structural analysis, modeling, and design software including but not limited to ETABS, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, SAFE, as well as other computer-aided design tools relevant to this role.
+ Proven expertise in applying all major structural design codes and standards, including in-depth knowledge of NBC, OBC, and CSA S16, CSA A23.1, CSA A23.3, CSA S304, CSA O86, AISC 360, ACI 318, etc.
+ Good written and verbal communication skills (English proficiency essential).
+ Ability to recognize and adhere to established deadlines and schedules is a must.
+ Ability to fit into a fast-paced team environment and/or work independently.
+ Self-motivated, detail oriented and multi-tasking.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $7000 to $9000.

+ Holding or the ability to obtain Reliability Level security clearance
+ Experience in the preliminary and detailed design phases of light industrial and /or municipal infrastructure (pump stations, water / wastewater treatment plants)
+ Proven track record in design and production of engineering documents such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, control and communication system diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams; developing equipment load schedules, cable & tray calculations, and instrumentation lists
+ Proven proficiency in developing construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
+ Advanced AutoCAD or AutoCAD 3D skills required
+ Must be able to interpret engineers' notes & specifications, and convert into detailed design drawings accurately in timely manner with minimum amount of supervision

**Job Requirements**
We are looking for a strong technical talent to join as **Solutions Design IT Specialist in Canadian Distributed** team. Lead the creation of a comprehensive end-to-end detailed solution with overall accountability for the technical design and delivery. You'll be exposed to stretch assignments as you take on large-scale, complex and/or enterprise-wide projects.
+ Application design and development activities. Hands-on experience with Java/Springboot applications.
+ Develop and document a detailed solution design within SDS, impart your subject matter expertise throughout life cycle.
+ Expert knowledge of the business, broader organization, technical environment, standards, processes, tools, procedures, multiple programming languages, operating systems, solutions design and other relevant technology areas from a design/support/solutions perspective.
+ Readiness and motivation to work autonomously in a lead capacity on a diverse range of activities (e.g. design, support of technical business solutions) and can be relied on to coach, educate and monitor the work of others.
+ Primary subject matter expertise in multiple areas; you're seasoned in counselling clients and project teams on all aspects of research, analysis, design, software support, development of technical solutions.
+ Strength coaching and advising clients, partners and project teams, capable of being an internal expert.
+ Participate in complex applications and systems development, programming.
+ Propose solution options; generate stakeholder support.
+ Produce top-notch functional, technical and user interface designs.
+ Take business, Enterprise Architecture, system performance and development standards requirements, then develop functional, technical and user interface designs for an application and/or system.
+ Review technical deliverables for quality throughout detailed design and development phase, identify gaps or redesign as needed.
+ Define metrics and performance goals with technology partners and peers.
+ Respect TD's technology delivery practices and standards, project management disciplines, business technology architecture, and risk and production capacity - this includes thorough project requirements, documentation, scope estimates and costs.
+ Deliver effective and efficient solutions by meeting milestones and ensuring project deliverables are on time, within budget, and adhere to the corporate quality and security standards.
+ Conduct code reviews to address quality, standards compliance, reusability and ease of maintenance, Operational Readiness Reviews, and L3 production troubleshooting support.
+ Support knowledge management processes and ensure knowledge is codified, monitored, tracked and managed.
+ Ensure design leverages existing reusable components, traces back to business requirements, and that new modules are designed with reusability in mind.
+ Identify and address any issue that affects the integrity of the application (e.g. cross-capability/release issues).
+ Lead, Inspire and Mentor team members on the use of Software Development best practices and Agile practices.
**Qualifications & Skills**
**Must Have Skills:**
+ 10+ years experience in development (J2EE, Java)
+ 10+ years experience in frameworks like Spring, Spring MVC, Spring boot, Spring Security (OAuth, LDAP), File based batch application processing
+ 7+ years of E2E system design experience integrating with multiple microservices and following design principles of resiliency and fault tolerance.
+ 7+ years experience in RESTful API, bulk volume transaction handling,
+ 5+ years experience in RDBMS database like Oracle, DB2 etc., Experience in database modelling, stored procedures, performance tuning.
+ 5+ years working experience in Kafka, MQ
+ 5+ years of Hands- on experience with development tools and frameworks such as Maven, Jenkins, Github-copilot and Nexus.
**Good to Have:**
+ Agile/Waterfall and SDLC/PMLC processes
+ Continuous Integration and Test-Driven Methodologies
+ SOAP knowledge
