Responsibilities

DevOps Toolchain :

  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve the DevOps toolchain.
  • Propose and integrate new tools into the DevOps toolchain.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback.
  • Provide clear communication around expected inputs and outputs.
  • Implement and communicate appropriate metrics around the toolchain.

Continuous Improvement

  • Regularly propose and implement demonstrable improvements to DevOps processes and tooling, including metrics.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technologies.
  • Aim to understand domain areas such as underwater acoustics, signal processing, data visualization, and human factors engineering.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps or infrastructure automation roles.
  • Experience with CI/CD Pipeline Management, including building, expanding and maintaining DevOps pipelines.
  • Extensive experience with Jenkins for automating builds, tests, and deployments.
  • Proven experience identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in build and deployment pipelines
  • Strong understanding of secure coding practices, vulnerability scanning, and compliance requirements in workflows.
  • Experiencing using Bitbucket, artifact repos like Nexus Repository Manager, Linux, and scripting.
  • Experience managing VMware servers an asset. Knowledge of Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes an asset.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus and Grafana an asset.
  • Domain knowledge of acoustics, signal processing, marine mammals, or oceanography would also be considered an asset.

Job Qualifications


- Relevant experience may include education with a focus in Computer Science or a closely related IT field, or equivalent hands-on career experience

We are looking for a Cloud Solution Architect - Infrastructure to design the structure of our clients IT systems and oversee programs to ensure the proper architecture is implemented.

In this role, you should be an excellent communicator who is able to translate complex requirements into functional architecture. We’d also like you to have hands-on experience in software development and be able to manage complex programs.

Your goal will be to ensure our internal IT framework operates properly.

Responsibilities

This is a customer facing role, owning the overall technical relationship between the customer and Microsoft Azure Infrastructure and Applications Development Platform. You will own the Cloud Infrastructure and Azure Applications Development technical customer engagements including architectural design sessions, specific implementation projects and/or pilots. The ideal candidate will have experience leading deep technical architecture discussions with senior customer executives, Enterprise Architects, IT Management and Developers.

Understanding Customer/Partner Technical Environment

  • Observes colleagues and learns how to gather customer/partner insights (e.g., feedback around technical preferences, environments, business needs) and align with solutions.
  • Acts as the voice of the customer (VOC)/partner by learning to identify and share feedback around technical capabilities, gaps, blockers, and insights that relate to the customer/partner with internal teams, using established channels (e.g., UAT/TFT).

Architecture Design and Deployment

  • Leverages an existing architecture approach or reference architecture to propose a solution or achieve Microsoft's agreed commitments to the customer/partner. Assesses customer/partner needs and gathers information that helps others to identify growth opportunities.
  • Solicits input from others to contribute to proposals for viable solutions based on specific technical products. demonstrates basic technical concepts and proves those design solutions capability through design collaboration sessions with the customer/partner.
  • Applies foundational technical knowledge of an architecture solution to meet business and information technology (IT) requirements and resolve identified technical constraints.
  • Supports customer/partner projects as needed for specified architecture solutions by investigating a solution area and assisting in research and testing out concepts developed by more senior architects.
  • Identifies technical blockers (e.g., changing configurations, sample coding) for selected products to accelerate architecture implementations and routes non-technical issues for removal by the appropriate party.
  • Applies methodology and governance, as directed, to minimize business and technical risks and adhere to quality assurance while contributing to design and/or delivery of solutions (e.g. Well-Architected Framework, Enterprise Scale Landing Zone, Cloud Adoption Framework). Demonstrates an understanding of customer/partner conditions of success.

Practice Development

  • Supports research projects and contributes to scoping surveys for customers/partners to assess potential intellectual property (IP) needs or process changes.

Trusted Advisor

  • Works with internal teams and begins building relationships with customer/partner/MCS technical specialists under the guidance and supervision of others.
  • Respectfully challenges customers/partners when going in the wrong direction and escalates appropriately.
  • Learns Microsoft solutions and demonstrates an understanding of Microsoft's value to customers/partners.

Thought Leadership

  • Provides input to virtual team members (e.g., Account team, enterprise channel managers, partner development manager (PDMs)) when asked, using a basic knowledge of specific Microsoft architectures and other relevant products. Actively looks for relevant communities to learn from.

We are looking for a solution architect (SA) who will report to the manager of solution architecture. The SA will primarily define the solution architecture for specific projects but will also work with the business leaders to build a roadmap and alignment of solutions. As part of his/her role, the SA will review and understand business requirements for a project in order to design a technology solution that will meet those requirements while respecting the guiding principles of the Enterprise Architecture within the actual BRP context. 

YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Provide an architectural conception of the solution regarding business, application, information and technology domains via the solution architecture design document.
  • Develop and implement infrastructure solutions to meet client needs. This involves assessing client requirements, selecting appropriate infrastructures and network services and designing scalable and secure architecture.
  • Provide expertise in migrating existing applications and infrastructure to the cloud. This includes performing cloud readiness assessments, planning migration strategies, and ensuring a seamless transition with minimal downtime.
  • Ensure infrastructure solutions adhere to industry standards and compliance requirements. This involves implementing security protocols, managing data encryption, and configuring cloud security services.
  • Partner with the organization to understand organizational and departmental strategy and agree on information systems solutions to meet the needs. 
  • Estimate cost, and prepare business cases for IT solutions, considering infrastructure, licences, development and support.

YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related study, or equivalent project-related experience.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in IT, with at least five years in information system design.
  • In-depth experience designing and implementing information solutions, with specialization in IT infrastructure (Server architecture (Windows and Linux), VDI, Virtualization, Networking projects).
  • Strong Knowledge of enterprise networking, cyber security, identity management systems, Backup and Recovery, Monitoring tools, IaC.
  • In-depth experience with Microsoft technologies (Azure, Sharepoint, OneDrive, M365 etc.)
  • Knowledge of public Cloud technologies (IaaS, CaaS, SaaS, PaaS) running on Azure, GCP and AWS.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology.
  • Experience in a factory IT environment.
  • Strategic business acumen and understanding of organization strategy and ability to design information systems to deliver that strategy.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to lay audiences. Some experience of working with board-level stakeholders. 
  • Team player with experience leading and collaborating cross-team to ensure successful delivery of solutions. 
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills - demonstrating outside-the-box problem-solving skills and ability to develop solution architecture designs. 
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies such as TOGAF with Archimate or the equivalent.
  • Bilingualism (French & English) - knowledge of English is required because you will be representing BRP in negotiations with vendors in the US and exchanging with stakeholders around the world.
