Strategic Planning & Execution
Lead development, planning, and execution of strategic DE&I priorities and initiatives that support all areas of the business, including Retail Operations, Retail Support Centres (RSC), eCommerce and Corporate Office teams, to embed inclusive practices across the organization.
Advance inclusive practices and behaviours by leveraging the organization''s robust inclusion structures to drive consistency, accountability and impact across all areas of the business.
Design and deliver targeted programs to remove barriers to inclusion, advance equity and create a workplace where everyone can thrive.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership
Partner with relevant stakeholders to
solicit and provide input on DE&I strategy. Collaborate with the DE&I Team to generate ideas for tactical initiatives and ways to measure impact
to drive an inclusive culture.
Partner with functional leadership teams to build capability and embed DE&I in everyday business practices in a practical and meaningful way.
Partner with HR team (Corporate Offices, Retail Operations and RSC) to ensure teams are aligned and supported on priorities.
Represent the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy and goals with internal and external stakeholders.
Coaching & Advisory Support
Coach, advise and support the business on DE&I topics, challenges and opportunities to ensure inclusive practices.
Partner with key stakeholders to create proactive solutions and drive success in achieving DE&I objectives.
Coach and advise Franchise Operations teams on inclusive leadership, equitable workplace practices, and the implementation of DE&I initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational values and strategies.
Learning & Development Support
Strengthen leadership capability around diversity, equity, and inclusion via multiple interventions including, but not limited to, workshops, training, eLearning development, and leadership guides/toolkits.
Facilitate training and deliver presentations related to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
DE&I Expertise & Advocacy
Keep current on diversity programs and developments by maintaining contacts in field (e.g. professional associations, partners).
Demonstrate subject matter expertise in diversity, equity and inclusion along with change management.
Leadership & Collaboration
Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition to strengthen the diversity of teams by embedding inclusive practices throughout the hiring and promotion lifecycle. This includes using data and insights to drive equitable outcomes, aligning with our 3-year aspirational goals for the representation of Women and Visible Minorities, and ensuring accountability at all levels.
Lead and support a team of DE&I professionals, ensuring their work is aligned with business priorities and responsive to the evolving needs of all areas of the organization.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to gain input and engagement related to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications
Undergraduate degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
Proven experience in developing and delivering processes, tools, and programs
Strong background in program design and facilitation
Experience working in a retail environment

Cuso International is looking for a volunteer like you who will work alongside local staff to plan, design and implement campaigns focused on gender equality, social inclusion, and the empowerment of women and girls. Your expertise will help local staff expand their knowledge in the area through training and knowledge-sharing techniques. Your work will contribute to creating positive lasting change and will help women and girls lead better lives.

As a volunteer, you may be asked to:
- Evaluate current approaches used to advocate for gender equality and social inclusion
- Work alongside local colleagues to design, strategize and implement a gender equality and social inclusion strategy that aligns well with the strategic plan of the partner organization
- Conduct a gender analysis and support gender mainstreaming within the partner organization
- Support and facilitate knowledge-sharing training for staff on topics including gender-based sexual violence, gender mainstreaming, gender analysis, gender programming, etc
- Support local staff in developing best practices and reviewing documents toward gender equality and social inclusion
- Monitor and evaluate results of various equality and inclusion initiatives and provide recommendations on lessons learned
- Support in the establishment of alliances with public and private organizations
Essential Academic Qualifications:
- University degree in gender studies, social sciences, humanities, political sciences, international development or related fields.
Essential Professional Background:
- Minimum 2 years experience in areas related to gender equality and social inclusion
- Experience in the implementation of training for diverse audiences
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to be able to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.

Project - Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE)
Cuso International will deliver the Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE) project, with a contribution from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) over seven years (2020-2027). SHARE aims to improve the economic and/or social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, in developing countries, to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to increasing the engagement of Canadians in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of country partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.

Terms and ConditionsCuso International's terms and conditions allow you to lead a modest and healthy lifestyle similar to local living standards. This support package will cover basic living expenses for one volunteer and is not intended to cover home-based expenses (eg. loans, support payments, etc.) or luxury items such as imported items in placement or international personal travel.

Selection Requirements:
Please note that if you are shortlisted for the placement, you will be required to:
- Confirm Passport or Permanent Resident details for travel purposes

Pre-placement Training and Briefing - Skills and Knowledge for Working in Development (SKWID)
We commit to helping you prepare as best as possible for your placement. You will have a Volunteering Mobilization Advisor (VMA) to support you through the process and will participate in pre-placement training as part of your preparation. You will also have access to self-directed briefing documents, online training, and external resources through the volunteer portal. This training is designed to maximize your understanding of your placement and culture, help you identify and plan your learning, and help you stay safe and healthy during your placement.
