Position Summary
Reporting to the Foreman or designate, the Operator performs a variety of tasks related to the operation of heavy construction and maintenance of way equipment in the construction and maintenance of track.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
+ Operates Excavators, Backhoes, Skid Steers, and other heavy equipment
+ Operates heavy construction equipment to move, load or unload materials.
+ Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures;
+ Installs equipment or attachments on machinery or related structures;
+ Performs equipment safety, maintenance checks and routine repairs;
+ Repairs and maintains equipment, making emergency adjustments as necessary;
+ Signals directions or warnings to coworkers;
+ Coordinates machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members;
+ Locates underground services, such as pipes, wires, prior to beginning work;
+ Takes actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines other equipment, other workers, and falling objects;
+ Keeps records of material and equipment usage and problems encountered;
+ Pushes other equipment when extra traction or assistance if required;
+ Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
+ Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
+ Minimum 3 year experience operating excavators, backhoes in a construction environment;
+ Valid AZ Driver's License and a clean driver's license;
+ Ability to understand and follow instructions; read and interpret document such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, construction specifications, and procedure manuals;
+ Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety requirements and procedures;
+ Ability to pass pre-employment background checks including drug screening.
+ Willing to travel across ontario
+ Willing to work nights
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
+ Standing and walking around the project site
+ Frequent bending, lifting, digging, shoveling and moving of objects on site;
+ Loud noise
+ Field environment and subject to all weather conditions;
+ Working in and around live commuter trains, high voltage, confined space, safety sensitive cabling

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator who is proficient in operating excavators, skid steers, and rollers. The role involves working around both underground and above-ground utilities, sorting materials, loading trucks, and digging. The work will take place on various sites ranging from Vancouver to Maple Ridge.
Responsibilities
+ Operate excavators, skid steers, and rollers efficiently.
+ Work around underground and above-ground utilities.
+ Sort materials and load trucks.
+ Perform digging activities.
+ Conduct pre-trip inspections and clean equipment tracks.
+ Engage in general labor and civil construction tasks.
Essential Skills
+ 3+ years of experience operating an excavator.
+ Comfortable performing labor-intensive tasks.
+ Experience with mainline and underground utilities.
+ Ability to lift 50lbs.
+ Possession of PPE including 6" steel-toed boots, glasses, protective gloves, hard hat, and high visibility vest.
+ Good communication skills.
+ Willingness to work in all types of weather, both indoors and outdoors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience tying rebar.
