As the Education Coordinator you participate in the centre's operations, including working with multiple people from centre staff to teachers, to parents, and of course, the students! You will work directly with the Centre Director as a key staff member with the following responsibilities:
- help inform inquiring parents about our Oxford Learning programs
- organize schedules for students, staff, and teachers
- set up and administer assessments
- establish and oversee student learning programs
- liaise with members of the community (schools, sports teams, and local businesses)
- maintain contact with parents and meeting with them to discuss their child's progress
- ensure that the Oxford Learning philosophy is being maintained throughout the centre
- create a fun and energetic learning environment on a daily basis
- effectively master the Oxford Learning Teaching philosophy as well as coach other teaching members of the team

Empowerment Squared is looking for a Coordinator, Education, to join our Programs Division.
Reporting to the Manager, Education, the Coordinator, Education is responsible for providing leadership and assistance with Empowerment Squareds Educational programs, like the School Readiness Program, Homework Circle, Career Discovery and other educational initiatives for participants to further Empowerment Squareds mission and vision. The Coordinator, Education will help with facilitating programs and participate in strategic planning, outreach and administration for participants both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development:
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement programs and initiatives
- Support curriculum development for various programs throughout the year, organizing programs under the UBUNTU framework with an emphasis on wellness
- Provide mentorship and support to participants and their families
- Facilitate group programming and individual follow-up, including regular check-ins with program participants and/or guardians where appropriate
- Escalate key issues/risks to Manager and ensure timely action to maintain program timelines
- Administrative Support, including, but not limited to:
- Communicate and track programs and projects using virtual tools including Google suite, Zoom, WhatsApp, and CRM system
- Managing attendance and enrollment lists, reminder calls, answering phone calls
- monitoring budgets including creating finance requisition and expense reports
- Support programs launch and closure, including reports, evaluations, and feedback meetings.

2. Community Outreach and Engagement:
- Support community outreach initiatives to raise awareness of Empowerment Squared and its programs.

- Schedule and coordinate volunteer activities, ensuring adequate coverage and effective use of volunteer resources.

Compensation and Benefits:

Responsibilities (Position Details):
As the Education Coordinator you participate in the centre's operations, including working with multiple people from centre staff to teachers, to parents, and of course, the students! You will work directly with the Centre Director as a key staff member with the following responsibilities:
- help inform inquiring parents about our Oxford Learning programs
- organize schedules for students, staff, and teachers
- set up and administer assessments
- establish and oversee student learning programs
- liaise with members of the community (schools, sports teams, and local businesses)
- maintain contact with parents and meeting with them to discuss their child's progress
- ensure that the Oxford Learning philosophy is being maintained throughout the centre
- create a fun and energetic learning environment on a daily basis
- effectively master the Oxford Learning Teaching philosophy as well as coach other teaching members of the team

Education :
- Minimum university degree (Credits in Social Sciences, Languages, Math and Business preferred)
- Strong secondary school mathematics skills are an asset

- Experience with billing cycles required

* Skill in the application of the professional sciences of food, nutrition and management
* Have knowledge regarding the Canadian Diabetes Association Guidelines for the Nutritional Management of Diabetes, and Clinical Practice Guidelines
* Ability to develop normal and therapeutic diets
* Ability to adapt normal and therapeutic diets to the group’s and to the individual’s cultural, religious, economic needs and preferences.
* Ability to integrate nutrition services into the health delivery system including the preventive program
*What You’ll Do*
* Conduct professional nutritional assessments, evaluations, counselling as it pertains to diabetes management
* Conduct clinics and provides education in a variety of formats: one -on-one consultations, group sessions and community based educational presentations via in-person either in clinic, in community or home visits, or by way of virtual settings (telephone, OTN, video conferencing)
* Diabetes education (at-risk, pre-diabetes, diabetes, pediatric diabetes, gestational diabetes)
* Attends multidisciplinary meetings as an Allied Health member
* Leads presentations and workshops centered around nutrition (prevention, cooking demonstrations, etc)

* An accredited 4-year or equivalent degree with appropriate courses in sciences and human nutrition, administration and humanities
* Completion of Dietetic Internship or equivalent supervised practical training
* Successful completion of the Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination
* Member of College of Dietitians of Ontario (or eligible for membership)
* Certified Diabetes Educator (willingness to obtain certification within a prescribed time frame)
* Membership in the Diabetes Educator Section of the Canadian Diabetes Association
* Ability to communicate in local native Cree language is an asset
