Nature of the work
The position of education consultant encompasses, in particular, responsibility for providing advice and support to staff of educational institutions and services in the implementation, development and evaluation of programs of study, class management and instructional materials.
Some characterictic duties
Collaborate in the implementation of the educational and special projects of the schools.
Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the school's success plan, while respecting the educational and administrative frameworks at both school and school board level.
Collaborate in the implementation of curricula and training programs.
Advising teachers and management on curriculum interpretation.
To design and run workshops and training sessions relating to curricula.
Advising and supporting teachers individually and collectively in their day-to-day work.
Design or select and lead training and instrumentation activities to meet students' needs in terms of adaptation, innovation and pedagogical development.
Assisting in the design, development or adaptation of learning and assessment tools
Propose diagnostic assessment tools.
Participate with the multidisciplinary team, parents and students in developing and revising the individualized education plan (IEP) for students with disabilities or social maladjustments or learning difficulties.
Participate in the choice of objectives and means of intervention.
Support teachers in developing and implementing strategies and projects to help students with, or at risk of, adjustment or learning difficulties.
Support school teams in implementing universal best practice in classroom management and the design of learning environments.
Advising teachers and principals on issues relating to staff development programmes.
Planning staff development programmes and evaluating their results.
Analysing and advising on the selection of teaching materials, supplementary materials, equipment and specialised software.
Advising school staff on the allocation of technological aids as accommodation measures.
Collaborate on projects aimed at integrating technologies.
Develop and run training and information workshops on the elements of the technology integration programme.
Collaborate with other school stakeholders, partner organisations, Centres of Excellence and the Ministry of Education.
Travel to CSCQ schools in different regions when necessary.

Qualifications required
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty, notably education;
Special Education / Adaptation scolaire background and/or studies is an asset;
Knowledge of the Québec School System;
Knowledge of Competency Approach to Social Participation (CASP), Work-Oriented Training Path (WOTP) and other pathways (15+, 16+, Concomitance), Transition école-vie active (TÉVA) is an asset;
Knowledge of Professional Learning Communities (PLC), Response to Intervention (RTI), Neufeld Developmental Paradigm, Trauma-Informed School Practices and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an asset;
Knowledge of the three forms of differentiated instruction (pedagogical flexibility, adaptation, modification) is essential;
Individualized education plan (IEP) Framework knowledge is essential;
Excellent knowledge of oral and written English and a good knowledge of oral and written French;
A valid teaching permit issued by the MEQ or eligibility to obtaining a teaching permit issued by the MEQ is a definite asset.

JOB SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Director of Recruitment and Admission, the Graduate Admissions Advisor/Recruiter for Programs in the School of Education on the Vaughan, Ontario campus is an essential partner in the development and implementation of Niagara University's recruitment strategies for the programs in education including the Bachelor of Professional Studies, Master of Educational Leadership and Additional Qualification courses. This role is responsible for attracting high-quality applicants, managing the complete recruitment cycle, and providing exceptional guidance to prospective students throughout their application journey. The position requires building and nurturing strategic relationships with key stakeholders including academic departments, partner institutions, alumni and representing the University at recruiting events. Critical to success in this role is the ability to plan and execute engaging information sessions, webinars, and one-on-one meetings with prospective students, while maintaining comprehensive data tracking to inform recruitment strategies. The admissions recruiter will join regular team meetings and provide timely reports on key recruitment metrics.The ideal candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate strong organizational abilities, and have a thorough understanding of the Ontario higher education landscape.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

  • Nurture candidate leads through personalized communications, email campaigns, and targeted marketing materials.
  • Implement effective follow-up strategies and workflows to maintain candidate engagement throughout the recruitment process.
  • Communicate effectively with prospective students regarding program offerings, admissions requirements, deadlines, and application processes.
  • Track, organize, and maintain accurate and updated versions of graduate recruitment materials, including program flyers, fact sheets and website information.
  • Counsel prospective students on the Niagara University application process; help them to expedite and complete the process.
  • Create and manage virtual and in-person recruitment events, including program webinars and open house events.
  • Represent Niagara University at career fairs, networking events, and campus recruitment activities. Arrange a timely and cost-effective travel schedule.
  • Maintain detailed records of student interactions and event participation to inform outreach strategies and ensure data-driven decision-making.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to student and employee personal information, student grades, etc.), both during and after employment with the University. Any question regarding the confidentiality of material should be referred to the supervisor. Any violation shall subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Comprehensive understanding of Niagara University in Ontario's education Bachelor of Professional Studies program, graduate programs, degrees, certificates, and departments
  • Thorough knowledge of university admissions processes and familiarity with effective recruitment strategies and lead nurturing techniques
  • Understanding of event planning and management for virtual and in-person recruitment activities
  • Knowledge of social media marketing and content creation best practices for higher education
  • Awareness of data privacy regulations and confidentiality requirements in educational settings
  • Ability to learn application management systems (SLATE) and other university digital systems that aid in the processing of critical information
  • Strong grasp of metrics analysis and reporting to improve recruitment outcomes
  • Understanding of relationship building with community and college partners
  • Must have outstanding communication skills, verbal and written as well as exceptional customer service skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Typical office environment with regular use of a computer, phone, and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and travel as needed.
  • Occasional lifting of materials or event supplies (up to 25 lbs.)
  • Evening or weekend hours may be required to attend recruitment events.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Bachelor's degree required; preference for candidates with a master's degree or prior graduate study.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in recruitment, admissions, student affairs, or a related field; experience in higher education preferred.
  • Strong public speaking, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and CRM systems (Slate experience preferred).
  • Ability to travel for recruitment events and work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends.
  • A valid G driver's license is required that satisfies both University and insurance company underwriting rules and regulations for driving a motor vehicle. Must also be able to operate a motor vehicle in Canada.
  • The ability to perform all duties related to the position in Canada regardless of residency is required. This includes, but is not limited to, border crossing and eligibility to work in Canada if the employee decides to relocate.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION – % OF TIME

  • 60% – Develop and execute recruitment strategies; conduct outreach and follow-up with prospective students; maintain records of engagement.
