Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide HS&E expertise, enhance performance across projects by offering specialized knowledge and developing processes tailored to project needs
  • Conduct work area inspections, meet with field supervisors to address potential issues, and ensure adequate safety equipment and supplies are available
  • Serve as a resource for HS&E guidance, environmental management, and regulatory compliance for all site stakeholders
  • Develop safety procedures, lead training sessions for employees and supervisors, while providing technical support for safety equipment and systems
  • Investigate and resolve issues by conducting complex investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Proactively manage risks, evaluate the accuracy and thoroughness of hazard assessments by inspecting sites, reviewing processes, and interviewing team members
  • Drive continuous improvement, assess leading and lagging indicator reports, offering actionable recommendations to enhance HS&E performance
  • Provide support to site leadership in preparing materials for safety meetings and toolbox talks

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in construction projects, preference will be given to those with on-site industrial, commercial, institutional or residential construction experience
  • Experience conducting & leading large investigations
  • CRSP, CSO or NCSO designation is an asset
  • Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the workforce
  • Proactive approach to safety, including identifying issues and implementing solutions
  • Proven experience in risk assessment, program development, training, and incident investigation
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to adapt communication styles to various audiences

  • This is a site-based role located in Winnipeg, MB
  • WHMIS 2015, Fall Protection training, and First Aid certification (completed or willingness to obtain) are mandatory

  • About the Role:

    Reporting to the Plant Manager, the EHS Manager is responsible for managing plant safety and environmental programs to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment. Implements, oversees, and adapts policies and programs to improve the facility's environmental and safety performance and ensures compliance with current and future regulations and standards. Plans and / or delivers programs to train managers and employees in work site safety and environmental practices. Promotes safety by working with all departments to analyze the current situation and recommend safety improvements. You'll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:

    • Responsible for all aspects of EHS, including OSHA, and environmental record keeping, safety audits, and accident investigations and identifying workplace hazards.
    • Develop, evaluate, and maintain the department budget for the EHS area.
    • Ensure the facility complies with OSHA and environmental laws and regulations.
    • Develop, deliver, and track participation in health and safety related training and OSHA related certifications.
    • Provide ongoing support to department managers for safety meetings and department work modifications.

Summary

Tarkett is seeking a hands-on EHS Manager to help develop, establish, and maintain an environmental health and safety program that strives to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements, and provides for a safe work environment that is free of hazards in pursuit of zero work-related injuries / illnesses, using a behavioral based approach. Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary EHS support for the site, responsible for all aspects and EHS reporting
  • Act as the primary voice for safety and environmental support for the site
  • Assists with all aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety program.
  • Ensure compliance to all Safe Work Practices (SWP), regulatory standards (CNESST, code du batiment ) and plant policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Safety, Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or related discipline desired.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in environmental, health and safety, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of all local, provincial and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting, air permitting, and hazardous waste management.

Job Description

The person responsible for the Health, Safety and Environment department is responsible for implementing and administering health, safety and environment programs for all plants in Canada and ensures that the HSE team works with the organization to promote a safe, healthy work environment that complies with provincial and Sika Group obligations.

They must also represent Sika Canada to all our corporate partners regarding shared responsibilities and communications related to health, safety, and the environment, as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define, deploy, and implement health and safety guidelines, objectives, and programs by encouraging participation at all levels of the company.
  • Ensure the integration, training, and development of health and safety skills.
  • Supervise, mobilize, and develop the Health & Safety team, define clear objectives, and ensure their follow-up.
  • Ensure that new legislative and corporate requirements are communicated and implemented.
  • Manage and ensure the proper functioning and successful completion of audits/inspections, when necessary, tests and sampling carried out by third parties in the field of HSE and keep up to date the results of tests carried out by third parties.
  • Organize training on various topics related to the environment, health, and safety for employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Support ISO 9001/14001/45001 and other certification initiatives
Qualifications

  • University Degree or College Diploma (Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental) or related disciplines.
  • 10 years of experience in Health, Safety & Environmental within a manufacturing environment (Preferred)
  • 5 years of experience in management
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes and legislative requirements relating to CNESST, OSHA, CSA and the Environmental Protection Act.
  • Health and Safety certifications and accreditations (e.g., GHS, Working at Heights, Train the Trainer programs, Joint Health and Safety Committee)
  • Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective relationships across all levels in the organization.
  • Bilingual in French and English to properly support all of our Canadian sites.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Available to travel to other plants and locations across the region and across Canada and International. (10% to 25%)
  • Varied shift schedule due to supporting both day and night shifts at various locations (across time zones)
