Key Responsibilities

Your Role as Intermediate Electrical Engineer

In your role as an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, reporting to the Manager of Power Systems Engineering Services, you are responsible for performing engineering design and studies for various electrical distribution and substation projects (from 600V up to 230kV voltage levels). This includes preparing electrical protection and control design deliverables, and/or physical layouts for medium and high voltage substations. You will also establish project strategy, review drawings, and ensure elements of design and detailing adhere to jurisdictional requirements and will liaise with all key stakeholders.

Your Key Accountabilities

  • Technical and Documentation
    • Independently prepares and verifies complex technical calculations.
    • Designs distribution systems utilizing client standards including bill of materials, yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, ground grid, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC and DC power systems and cable lists.
    • Designs protection and control scheme; including CT selection, relay wiring design and protection parameter selection using IEEE standards and applicable codes.
    • Prepares scope of work, estimates, schedules, budgets, specifications and reports.
    • Prepare new and modify existing relay drawings including relay panel arrangements, single lines, three lines, AC and DC schematics, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring.
    • Prepare new and modify existing reports/studies such as Protection and Coordination, Arc Flash, Load Flow and Grounding.
    • Leads site visits for data collection, and assessments and to provide recommendations for remedial action.
    • Leads and provides oversight for QAQC (quality assurance quality control) checks as
      required.
    • Completes and reviews project documentation and technical report development.
  • Business Development and Client Management
    • Identifies and pursues new high-value business opportunities.
    • Leads in the preparation and presentation of proposals of significant scope and complexity.
    • Manages client communications including regular updates, contract negotiation, and documentation.

  • Knowledge of mining-related processes is a definite asset

Our TYLin Water Sector is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for managing all electrical, communications, and fire alarm design projects within the MEP/IC group. The ideal candidate should have experience in designing electrical infrastructure in industrial environments.
**Responsibilities & Qualifications**
**Responsibilities:**
+ Electrical contract drawing and specification production for a wide range of project types, including water and wastewater treatment plants, odor control systems, administration and laboratory facilities, vehicle maintenance buildings, central heating plants, and others.
+ Conceptual design development, electrical field troubleshooting, and electrical systems cost estimating.
+ Staff development; project profitability tracking; management of project scope, schedule, and budget.
+ Internal and external client management; electrical coordination with other disciplines; electrical design cost estimating.
**Qualifications:**
+ BS degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
+ P. Eng registration required.
+ Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical design, related energy design, and electrical project management.
+ Experience in wastewater and water treatment and conveyance facilities highly preferred.
+ Experience in commercial or industrial and low voltage power distribution design required.
+ Past experience in project management and/or group leadership.
+ Good working knowledge of low voltage electrical distribution, medium voltage electrical distribution, motor control, variable speed drives, control schematics, lighting design, fire alarm, and access control, electrical codes, and standards.
