As our new Electrical/Mechatronics Engineer, your primary goal is to design, build and test electro-mechanical devices for our Extract Energy heat engine as well as our actuation and medical device applications. We’re looking for someone who can truly own their projects and carry them independently all the way through design, prototyping, testing, and production. Specifically, we're looking for someone with hands-on experience building control and data acquisition systems for in-lab testing and final products, including taking ownership of understanding requirements of large-scale systems, to specifying, assembling, and integrating the components, right down to writing code to support the firmware to integrate these systems. We’re also looking for someone who understands power electronics and how to process raw power from a generator into a clean grid-quality electrical output. **Your Impact**
+ Reverse engineer vehicle systems to identify and understand HMI inputs, sensor signals, and ECU interfaces.
+ Design and implement electrical interfaces to enable autonomous control of vehicle systems. Use tools like oscilloscopes, logic/signal analyzers, and multimeters to capture and interpret electrical signals.
+ Write and execute test scripts in Python, C, or MATLAB to validate prototypes and support reverse engineering efforts. Create and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical layout drawings.
+ Configure and debug communications systems including CAN, LIN, RS-232, and Ethernet. Use Linux for day-to-day development and integration tasks including scripting, networking, and diagnostics.
+ Perform vehicle instrumentation and testing in real-world environments such as farms, warehouses, and outdoor test fields. Collaborate with software and systems teams to support integration with autonomy platforms such as ROS.
**Your Experience and Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
+ 0-5 years of experience in a hands-on electrical engineering or vehicle integration role.
+ Demonstrable experience with electrical instrumentation, reverse engineering, and hardware integration. Practical knowledge of electrical components, sensors, and actuators. Proficient use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other bench tools. Solid programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++ for scripting, data collection, and hardware validation.
+ Comfortable working in Linux environments, including bash scripting, networking, and system debugging. Experience with CAN bus systems and tools such as can dump and can-utils; familiarity with J1939 is a strong plus.
+ Ability to read and produce detailed electrical schematics. Familiarity with designing, building, and testing wiring harnesses. Understanding of communication protocols (CAN, RS-232, Ethernet, etc.) and electrical interface design. Awareness of safety best practices when working with vehicles, tools, and in field environments.

**Qualifications / Requirements:**
- Bachelor of Engineering degree from an accredited university or college.

**Job Description Summary**
This Senior-level role Instrumentation & Control Systems Design Engineer is responsible for design and analysis of process instrumentation and support of control systems interfaces for nuclear power plant applications. This includes plant process instrumentation and digital controls systems requirements and specification development.
**Job Description**
**Responsible for Plant I&C Systems design activities that support:**
+ GE's BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR)
**Essential Responsibilities:**
+ Demonstrates accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks.
+ Provide technical guidance and leadership, oversee project scheduling and resource planning, develop talent through mentorship, and act as the point-of-contact between your engineering team and both internal and external customers.
+ Perform lead Instrumentation Application Engineering (IAE) technical work scopes or manage IAE design scopes with architectural engineering firms.
+ Support I&C System design and development from conceptual through preliminary and detailed design, fabrication, assembly, production test, validation test as well as site installation, start-up test, and commissioning.
+ Perform, lead, or manage design and related technical scope from Conceptual, Preliminary, and Detailed Design including successful completion of nuclear regulatory design certification or plant licensing as well as procurement packages and hand-off to suppliers for implementation all applicable system, and component requirements; interfaces, function, performance, design assurance process, qualification, standards, regulatory guidance, certification or licensing commitments, technical contract, human factors, safety hazards, reliability, cyber security, etc.
+ Collaborate with other disciplines to define and achieve functional, performance, reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) targets and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
+ Collaborate with system supplier implementation teams to develop, perform, and review unit, module, system, and integration test plans, procedures, and reports including factory acceptance test, site acceptance test, construction, pre-operational, and start-up tests.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited university or college.
