Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement the design concept through the preparation of electrical detailed design, production drawings and schematics for industrial, commercial, and/or institutional buildings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Design and prepare layouts and specification for lighting, electrical distribution (single line diagrams), emergency power distribution, fire alarm, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, cable, and panel schedules.
- Engage in meetings with clients, contractors, and other consultants regarding project reports and findings.
- Provide expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems.
- Ensure ASHRAE and LEED compliance where applicable.
- Create technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
- Create specifications and equipment selection.
- Review shop drawings to confirm they adhere to project requirements.
- Consistently follow company policies, procedures, and file structures/formatting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Post-secondary Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is an asset.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is required.
- 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering for industrial, commercial, and/or institutional buildings.
- Work experience designing HV substations, fire alarms, lighting, emergency power generation, MV and LV distribution systems, and large electrical systems.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as the Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Building Code (OBC), Canadian National Building Code (NBC), etc.
- Ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure on various tasks.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
