**Job Description**
As part of our continued growth, our Winnipeg office has an opportunity for an Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in delivering conceptual, preliminary and detailed design phases, construction services in utility, mining, Industrial and/or municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities. They will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment to deliver advanced water and wastewater treatment facilities, transmission and distribution, renewables and large mining projects to our clients based in Western Canada and the USA.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Design of electrical power and distribution systems, lighting, grounding and control systems
+ Design and supervise production of drawings and specifications for complete electrical and automation systems including single line diagram, AC/DC schematics, field and panel control devices and SCADA for various processes including water/wastewater treatment, utility and mining applications.
+ Design experience with MV/HV substation protection and control systems philosophy, switchyard physical design including MV/HV equipment and structure, cable trench and grounding layout.
+ Strictly adhere to AECOM's project and Quality standards, including capability of learning and adopting clients' standard and requirements upon request
+ Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical aspect on project documentation produced in accordance with AECOM QA/QC procedures and the clients' standards.
+ Ensure that project deliverables are produced in a timely manner to expected quality and allocated budget.
+ Work with Construction Contract Administrator to review Shop Drawings, prepare and issue responses to contractor queries.
+ Perform site inspections and issue inspection reports, issue Field Instructions and Field Orders, and prepare deficiency reports.
+ Provide technical support through all phases of the project.
+ Understands the importance of meeting schedules, deadlines and good time management.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical / I&C Engineering + 4 years of related experience in engineering design in a multi-disciplinary electrical, instrumentation & control environment for production, including field services during construction phase of projects.
+ Registered as a P.Eng in Manitoba or ability to become registered within 6-12months.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Ideally 5+ years of experience in engineering design and field experience in a multi-disciplinary electrical, instrumentation & control environment for production, including field services during construction phase of projects.
+ Proven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, control network diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams; developing equipment load schedules, cable & tray calculations, instrumentation indices & standard details.
+ Experience in MV/HV substation design including physical switchyard, protection and control systems and medium voltage switchgear will be an asset.
+ Experience in protection relay selection and setting will be an asset.
+ Experience with technical software such as SKM and ETAP will be an asset.
+ Familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), Manitoba Building Code and Canadian Standard Association (CSA) standards
+ Design experience with low voltage (600V) MCCs and communication systems will be an asset.
+ Must be able to interpret engineers' notes & specifications and convert into detailed design drawings accurately in timely manner with minimum amount of supervision.
+ Experience in the design of PLC based systems an asset.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
+ Critical thinking to identify issues, present solutions and follow through to ensure completion.
+ Capable of collaborating and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Supporting our growing Water division, you will perform specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer including:
+ Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
+ Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

+ Independently work to provide EI&C engineering tasks for municipal projects to clients based in Western Canada especially for Metro Vancouver type of work.
+ Design and develop contract specifications, studies and reports for electrical power and distribution systems, grounding, lighting, cable tray system, cable feeder sizing, soft-start and variable speed drives, standby power, and low voltage systems (fire alarm, telecommunications and security systems) focused on building systems applications.
+ Capable to develop single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, equipment layout and elevation drawings, P&IDs, grounding layouts, motor schematics and wiring diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, equipment interconnection wiring diagrams, AC/DC schematics, cable schedules, cable tray layouts, area classification drawings, fire alarm riser and layout, control panel layouts, specifications, cost estimates, lighting layouts and other building systems without supervision.
+ Design and specify process instrumentation and control devices for various processes including water/wastewater treatment and industrial applications.
+ Provide electrical discipline leadership on small to mid-scale water and wastewater projects under minimal supervision to ensure that engineering and design deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards and sounds engineering practices.
+ Take direction from Projects' Managers, Leads and Process Engineers, and work closely with other discipline Designers and Engineers as a key team player for coordination and liaison of project deliverables under minimal supervision.
+ Strictly adhere to AECOM's project design and specification standards, including capability of learning and adopting clients' standard and requirements as required.
+ Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical aspect on project documentation produced in accordance with AECOM QA/QC procedures and with the clients' standards and expectation.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum requirements:**
+ University Degree in Electrical Engineering, from an accredited post-secondary institution;
+ Minimum 5 years related industry and engineering design experience in a multi-disciplinary electrical, power and/or instrumentation & control environment.
+ **_Registered Professional in Canada (EGBC preferred)_** or eligibility to **quickly** obtain EGBC registration with registration in another Canadian jurisdiction.
+ Applicable experience in electrical related design and commissioning, preferably encompassing electrical distribution systems and DCS or PLC control systems, variable speed drives, and instrumentation & control systems for municipal or light industrial environment.
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ Familiar with the **Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA** (National Fire Protection Association, Canadian Building Code), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), other recognised standards such as CEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEMA, NESC, ANSI, ATS, ISA, IESNA and experience in building (fire alarm and communication) systems.
+ Proven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, control and communication system diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams; developing equipment load schedules, cable & tray calculations, instrumentation list and specifications sheets, standard details; contract specifications, electrical studies and reports.
+ Experience working with Metro Vancouver is an asset.
+ Perform electrical system studies and calculations. Proficient in use of **_AutoCAD_** and/or other design tools (AutoCAD P&IDs/Electrical, REVIT MEP) will be a desirable asset.
+ Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
+ Experience with Metro Vancouver engineering standards is a strong asset.
+ Excellent English written and oral communications skills; proven interpersonal skills, self-motivated, results oriented, ability to work independently and be flexible to perform work under tight schedules in a fast paced integrated multi-disciplinary team environment.

Create electrical schematics drawings for the systemu2019s communications, power distribution and safety circuitry using AutoCAD
Perform and detail Safety Risk Assessments on the system design for compliance with locally legislated requirements such as OSHA, CSA, CE, UKCA, UL, IEC or customer specific
Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM) pertaining to electrical assemblies for order release in the ERP system
**Continuous Improvement**
Help to improve design efficiency and consistency from project to project by maintaining the central design library for commonly used components and assemblies
Ensure design issues and/or problems are resolved effectively and accurately vetted by the multi-functional project team
Investigate, propose, and implement design improvements to enhance our product quality, value to our customers, or improve our profitability
**How will you get here?**
**Education**
Bacheloru2019s degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng) license considered an asset
**Experience**
5+ yearsu2019 experience in an electrical design or engineering role
Experience with robotics and/or automated systems considered an asset
Able to perform power distribution calculations and heat generation analysis
CMSE or experience in Machinery Safety considered an asset

As an Electrical Designer, you will play an important role as part of a project team providing engineered electrical solutions to ensure performance and safety of engineered-to-order (ETO) automated laboratory projects.

The Electrical Designer is responsible for a variety of engineering activities including product design, and testing/verification of their designs and other assignments supporting Product Engineering initiatives for water/wastewater treatment equipment. Working as part of a cross discipline team in a collaborative environment you will be involved in many aspects of the product lifecycle. Products developed will directly impact water/wastewater quality globally.
This position is part of the Engineering team located in London, ON and will be on-site.
**In this role, a typical day will look like:**
+ Carry out assignments of substantial variety and/or complexity requiring a sound understanding of related engineering principles and practices
+ Involved in product design and enhancement throughout product lifecycle
+ Produce professional design drawings / documentation, build rapid prototypes of product concepts to illustrate design concepts
+ Act as a technical resource in a cross functional product design environment
+ Participate in testing and field verification
+ Up to 10% local or international travel may be required
**The essential requirements of the job include:**
+ Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology and/or a Degree in Electrical Engineering

Location: Langley Twp, BC
Pay Range: $25-$28.44/hr
Shift: Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday: 5:45 am to 4:15 pm - 4 X 10 hour shifts per week

What's the Job?

  • Assemble control panels for emergency control systems according to assembly instructions, specifications, and quality standards
  • Wire termination and component layout using hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, screwdrivers, and pliers
  • Mount electrical components including circuit breakers, switches, transformers, relays, and contactors
  • Position, bolt, screw, clip, and fasten parts and components using hand and power tools
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics to ensure accurate assembly

What's Needed?

  • Previous experience with electrical and mechanical assembly, with strong analytical skills
  • Experience or training in electrical or industrial assembly is considered an asset
  • Proficiency with power tools such as jig saws, grinders, pneumatic tools, and cutters
