**Job Description**
The **Buildings+Places** division of **AECOM** is seeking a motivated **Mechanical Engineering Graduate** for employment out of the **Markham, ON** office.
_This role is expected to begin for either January or May 2026_
**Major Responsibilities:**
+ A key member of the mechanical design team participating in design and construction administration of various facilities, including occasional out-of-town travel;
+ Design of Plumbing, Fire Protection and HVAC systems;
+ Perform Energy and HVAC calculations and analysis using industry programs (i.e. Carrier HAP);
+ Ability to use and create excel spreadsheets to assist with calculations and analysis;
+ Assist with the design and drafting of mechanical systems in 2D AutoCAD and MicroStation;
+ Assist with the design and drafting of mechanical systems in 3D such as REVIT;
+ Must be able to prepare written reports and deliver results in a clear manner to technical or non-technical persons;
+ Strong communication skills, spoken and written;
+ Experienced at using computers and utilizing Windows, e-mail, internet, MS Word, and Excel;
+ Able to work independently or as part of a team.

**Job Description**
AECOM Buildings + Places sector is seeking a **Mechanical Engineering Technologist** to join our **Ottawa, ON** office with opportunities for hybrid work.
AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building's engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.
**Major Responsibilities**
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
+ Conduct drafting / 3D BIM for mechanical systems
+ Prepares finished design drawings from sketches, notes, and details
+ Activities may include assisting with engineering calculations, coordination with other disciplines and prepping preliminary equipment lists with the assistance of an engineer and/or equipment supplier.
+ Supporting the preparation of the specifications and maintaining project documentation including quality review documentation.
+ Supporting packages preparation and submission
+ Monitors and documents conformance with quality, performance, safety and code requirements.
+ General understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.
+ Works in engineering project collaboration software platforms (i.e., ProjectWise, BIM360, Autodesk Construction Cloud)
+ Self-checks drawings for quality assurance
+ Support with field inspection and construction administration
+ Works in team-based environment that involves coordination with colleagues in different disciplines based in different offices
+ Performs the responsibilities under limited supervision

**Minimum Requirements:**
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:
+ College diploma in Engineering Technology + 4 (four) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
+ Proficient in 3D Revit/BIM drafting
+ Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
+ Holding or the ability to obtain Secret Level security clearance
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ EIT, C.Tech or CET designation, or working towards certification
+ Able to develop and advance drawings from conceptual to detailed design stage.
+ Good written and oral communication skills
+ Familiar with software such as: AutoCAD 2015 or later and Autodesk Revit Family/BIM Software
+ Familiar with Ontario building code, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62.1, NFPA 13, and other relevant design standards

• Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the robotics or automation industries, or in a related field involving complex electromechanical systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (On-Shape preferred).
• Understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA) principles.
• Familiarity with various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding).
• Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
